Not just for lights!

Honestly I’ve never used these for outdoor lighting. I’ve used them on our RV to hold up plastic fencing so our dogs can’t escape under the RV. They stayed on from SC to FL during heat and storms and held strong. We didn’t lose a single one. I’ve used them in our showers to prevent shower caddies from swinging from side to side when they get unbalanced during use. They have never fallen off their either. I can only suspect that the folks having issues have failed to properly prep the surface (dirty, etc) or the substrate is unsound (lose paint, chalky vinyl, etc). Also you have to follow the recommend time before hanging items. Oh, also, if the strips are stored unused for long periods of time in too hot or too cold, they tend not to stick as well either.

Easy to use!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We love the 3M Command brand products. We needed a good way to hang our outdoor lights under the patio. So we got the Command light clips. The patio structure is made of steel so we cleaned each spot where we wanted a clip with alcohol as suggested in the instructions and they work just fantastic. They are clear so they are basically invisible. against the steel. We are very happy with their performance!

Works great

My neighbor was going to hire someone to put up there holiday lights. I told them about the command strip outdoor light hooks, and said I thought we could do this without hiring some pros. We entourage out and made the purchase and about an hour or so later we put up the hooks with ease and completed a very nice lighting display using only the outdoor hooks. They just worked splendidly.

Great damage free solution

I used these to install a string of Bistro lights around an aluminum patio cover. I placed them 12 inches apart so there would be plenty of support for the heavy lights and cords. I had to trim them a little with wire cutters to get the thick cord in but they work great. They've been up for over a year with no problems.

Did not stick.

We tried to place one hook, in fair temperature (not that it should matter as stated on the packaging) and it did not even remotely stay put on the smooth surface. Extremely disappointed as hanging the lights on our patio of the new house after just getting home from college was going to be a great family activity. Spent nearly $50 on these clips to end up only disappointed and feeling guilty I recommended these to my parents.

Midwest Inland Hurricane Proof!

We purchased these clips to use on our shed last year for the Christmas lights so we didn't have to use a ladder for the gutters. Wasn't sure if they would stick and stay on while being exposed to our brutal, cold winters here in Iowa. Not only did they stay on for the holiday and the rest of the winter, but we had a Derecho - an inland hurricane of 140 MPH winds - trees, power lines, traffic signals, and more came down and were destroyed - but our clips are right where they were originally placed and can still hold lights! If that isn't holding power, I don't know what is!

Strips not sticky

I have had good luck before but I bought 9 hooks and 8 of the sticky applicators were not sticky (there were 4 per pack). I’m not sure if this means They were old and sat on the shelf too long or were lemons! I probably would recommend to a friend, but they are pricey and it’s a drag to have to go buy more pieces to use them.

Great for Holidays

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] These Command Outdoor light clips were both easy to initially use as they are to take down. The damage free is really true too. If you are a person who likes to decorate with lights for different holidays, then this is a perfect easy helper. you don't need to mess with a staple gun or anything like that, that would leave small holes.
