I've used this vacuum twice now %26 love it. I used to have a Tri-Star vacuum that kicked butt on my carpets. Came a time when I couldn't repair it any longer so have been struggling with name brand vacuums that last 2 years at the most %26 weren't very good. This Dyson reminds me of my TriStars, powerful, picks up everything like I expect vacuums to. It is a bit heavier but managable. Well worth it Plus you can't beat the sales price now at Sams. So glad I purchased this.

This vacuum is a step backward from my 15 year old Dyson. I did not like it and returned it. It is very heavy, like so heavy you'll feel like you're lifting weights. The kickstand is so terrible that they should fire their engineers that designed it. It collapses inadvertently all the time, making it hard to even just move the vacuum around. The hose attachment is so awkward to use, it's like it is backwards. Makes no sense. Save your money and buy a different vacuum.

Wow, this machine has some super sucking strength! I'm already a Dyson fan because they do make good products that last forever. This is my 3rd type of Dyson vaccum and this is by far the strongest vaccum power. I have vinyl tile floors and this machine picked up some dirt, but the best part is the little hose accessory that has the rotary heads. It really did clean up cat hair from by microfiber sofa cushion. I wish the floor head was a little wider because this more narrow one does require a few more steps, but it works good!

I'm a long-time Dyson owner and it was time to replace my 12-year-old DC 40. I bought the Ball Animal 3+ because it was the most similar to my old one, and I would be able to reuse all my many attachments. I tried this out and could barely push it across the carpet! The suction was too strong, even on the highest setting. I really wanted this to work, but it was so hard to push that my arm was sore after cleaning one room (and I lift weights!) I've since found out that Dyson is getting out of the upright vac business, to concentrate on the rechargeable stick vacs. It's a shame because I really liked my old one.

Other poor reviews are accurate about the animal 3. This vacuums suction is so strong that I can’t push it even on low pile carpet. I adjusted the height and it is still too difficult to push forward. I didn’t spend this type of money on a vacuum I can only use on tile/wood. I was afraid it was going to damage my rug. My arms hurt trying to vacuum 1 room let alone try to do an entire level of my home. It’s so heavy that it would be unsafe to use on stairs. Like others have said the hose is too tight and attachments are difficult to use and disassemble. The vacuum also falls over when trying to use the hose. It’s difficult to get the ball to maneuver around furniture like it claims. Most of the plastic is cheap and doesn’t seem like it will hold up over time. Trying to get it out of and into the locking standing position is difficult and I felt like I was going to break it. I really wanted to like this vacuum. I guess I’ll go back to buying Sharks.

The suction power is great and that’s the only thing good about it. This is our second dyson animal. Our first one lasted 15 years. It actually still works but just has a few issues. This new one looks and feels like cheap quality. The way it functions feels janky and is a poor design. I would recommend playing with one at the store before you purchase. Like I said though the suction is great

I really like this vacuum cleaner. It has exceptional power. The one problem I’m having is it’s very heavy. I have shoulder replacements in both arms which makes it hard to use this vacuum because of its weight and maneuverability. Also I’ve got problems with my back which causes some pain. I love the long extension cord and love the fact that it easily picks up pet hair and my long hair without me having to constantly clean the brush. I’m planning on giving the vacuum to my son and I have purchased a cordless Dyson sweeper to replace it.

I have a Corgi and he sheds a LOT. We recently moved to a new place that has a lot more carpet. My area rug that I thought was pretty hair free turned a different color. This thing sucked the dust out of the carpet from the apartment downstairs. Another review mentioned that this was hard to push/pull. In that case, as the instruction manual states, adjust the red slider on the front by the brushroll all the way to the left. This made it significantly better. I got it on sale for $279 which I feel is a fair price. It's a great vacuum but I wouldn't buy this if it was the regular price of $389.

Powerful suction. This is a great vacuum! It handles my carpet & tile floors like a champ!! This is our first Dyson & we got it on sale. The first time I used it on my carpets, it was set on the lowest carpet height setting. I almost could not move the vacuum because the suction was so strong. Moved it to the medium height setting & still had a hard time pushing the vacuum. So I moved it to the highest setting. Still lots of suction. I set it to the lowest setting & it picked up everything. It did not just blow things around like some other vacuums I have used. Love this!!

This machine was bought to replace a Dyson DC 50 which had served me well for many years. The Animal3+ is extremely heavy for normal household use and is difficult to maneuver. Because of the weight and difficulty using it, I wish I had not bought it.
