Plenty of power

After my family experienced the ice storm in Victoria, TX last year, I knew I had to do better. Having a wife and three young children, I felt helpless with no water well pump, internet, septic, plugs, switches, or any type of cooking appliances available. My brother and I installed a 30A transfer plug to my panel recently. After days of researching, I decided on this generator because of all the reviews stating to buy bigger than what is needed, for a buffer. I am glad I have that comfort zone. I received it today, assembled it in 10 mins, filled with oil and gas, and pushed the start button, it started right away. I let it run for about an hour and stopped it with key fob. So far so good, very satisfied so far. I will update.

Really well designed generator!

I have a lot of experience with large commercial diesel generators (100 KW+) and portable generators such as this one. It took less then 20 minutes to setup by myself - with the help of my tractor to unload it. I have only run mine for a few hours to start the break-in and try it out. It is quieter then the name brand 8 KW open frame gen it is replacing (the 8 KW reached the end of it's service life) and looks like it will be much easier to service with a better layout. From what I have seen so far, I am really happy with my purchase, I think you would be hard pressed to find a better portable generator of this size for this price - it is a good value. I am pretty confident it will serve my needs as my backup gen for my off-grid homestead for many years with proper service.

Westinghouse 9500c Generator

Purchased this generator due to living in Florida where we have frequent power outages as a result of tropical storms and hurricanes. It started the first time we tried with the remote automatic power button!! Seems to run like a top. Hope we don't need it, but it is fueled and ready for any outages.

Great Performance, but CO Sensor Issue

I recently purchased the Westinghouse WGen9500c portable generator, and overall, I’ve been quite impressed with its performance. It offers plenty of power with its 9500 running watts and 12500 starting watts, which is more than enough to keep essential appliances running during a power outage. The build quality is solid, and the unit starts up reliably, even in colder weather. I also appreciate the user-friendly features, like the electric start and the clear, easy-to-read display panel. However, I’ve encountered an issue with the carbon monoxide (CO) sensor, which has been a bit frustrating. Early on, the CO sensor seemed to malfunction, triggering the generator to shut down unnecessarily. While I understand the importance of this safety feature, it’s disappointing to experience this fault so early in the generator’s life. As a result, I now need to send it in for service to address this problem. Despite the CO sensor issue, I’m still optimistic about the long-term performance of the WGen9500c. Westinghouse is known for good customer support, so I’m hopeful that this will be resolved quickly. If you’re in the market for a powerful and versatile generator, I would still recommend the WGen9500c, but be mindful that this model may have some early teething issues with the CO sensor. Pros: Powerful output (9500 running watts) Easy to start and operate User-friendly display panel Good build quality Cons: CO sensor malfunction (requiring service early on) Hopefully, this is just a rare issue, and once it’s fixed, I can enjoy the generator without further problems.

Good features for pricing

We bought this just in case we were without power. I forgot to turn the gas valve to on. Once I figured that out it started right up. Push button works. It is a not a quiet machine, I plan to cover it in a vented box or use some plywood to mute the sound a little. Overall a great value

Fabulous Features and Perfect Performance

I do not often leave product reviews, however, I felt compelled to in this case. After shopping around, I landed on this generator and was surprised to see its affordability and the features it has. Living in a hurricane prone area, having a generator is necessary and this one is perfect for the application I had in mind. Its wattage will allow me to run so much more than the essentials. It operates flawlessly, the documentation and tools provided with it are high quality and I can start it with the push of a button, so I do not have to brave the southern heat and humidity for too long. It is a solid purchase.

Great power

I bout this generator because I was tired of cold showers when the power was out. It will power all the lights, fridges, tvs, computers, and allow me to use my well pump and hot water heater on at the same time. Sound is about normal of most generators. The electric start is where this thing shines!

So Far, I'm Impressed

Got my new generator yesterday and today I set it up and got it running. I'm blown away about how quiet it is compared to my 18 yr old unit I replace this with. Installing the wheels, the feet and adding the oil was straight forward and easy. Added gas and it fired right up.

Like Having Your Own Power Station

Received the delivery of my W9500 generator just days before the first of most likely winter power outages in Northern New England. The electric start makes it easy to fire up the generator and even easier with the remote start. I don't even have to go outside and free my backside off to start the thing and get my house up and running (so that has touches of hyperbole, but it beats the heck out of pulling those ridiculous start cord that destroys my shoulder and leaves me suffering the humiliation and frustration of getting old and weak). Would I purchase this again? Uh, yes. Would I buy a second just because -- uh yes. While I haven't put it through a significant long term power outage, it provided days of heat and barely made it obvious the power went out. Now, if only it could re-fuel itself so I never have to leave the warmth of my New England Home in the winter. A couple of key things to note if you are interested in buying this generator. 1. It is heavy -- about 250lbs. But, the wheels work. So, if you can drag fat guy with an ankle injury off a trail or a pro football player off the field after an injury, you can lug this around and place it where you need it. 2. Is it a good lookin' machine -- It's blue, of course, it looks good. 3. Does it feel well built? Well, I haven't hit it with a hammer or dropped it out of my truck, but it seems well built (and seems unlikely that the bolts will vibrate themselves out when running. 4. Is it quiet? It's a generator. I don't have it in my house (and hopefully you weren't thinking you might do that) so it ain't too bad. You can hear running outside but it doesn't prevent me from watching movies (when I am sitting in the cold of winter, powerless, using the generator to save my soft, first-world lifestyle). 5. Is the remote key fob junk? Actually, it's a pretty nice key fob. It isn't the quality you'd get from a German-engineered auto -- but it is durable, easy to use, and it comes with a clip so you can hook it on something. Is it easy to find when you open the box? No, not really. I guess if you're the type of person that looks for objects zip tied to your tools, then YES. In short, don't panic if you don't find it in the box -- it's strapped with a zip tie to the actual generator. 6. Can it be set up when it's below freezing outside? Yes, but it's cold. 7. Does the battery come fully charged? Yes, but make sure you hook the cables or you will be sitting there for hours trying to figure out why the gosh darn thing won't start. I am not saying I did this, I am just saying 8. Can you trickle charge the battery? Yes. It even comes with a trickle charge plug -- if you're partial to using the slick little plugins versus hooking your battery cables up the old fashioned way. In short, worth the buy. Good product. Can't wait to see how else I might be able t use it -- maybe a snow cone stand in the summer.

Great Generator - 9500

I purchased to use when the power goes out. Arrived today, packaged well. Just screw in the feet and pop on the wheels and ready to go. Started right up. Hopefully will not have to use it, but best time to buy a generator is when you don't need it!
