This is the perfect size for our family of 3, mainly because our daughter will "make a meal" out of the salmon itself. It is always packaged will with minimal additional prep time.

I buy this frequently (1-2x/month). I freeze it in portions for 2 and use only what we need. I've never known this product to be odorous or bad-tasting. I use the tiniest bit of oil and Weber's Roasted Garlic & Herb seasoning and broil for 8-9 minutes at 550°F. It's always perfect and delicious! The bad reviews must have just been a bad batch!
