I picked through the packs this week and got one dated March 8. Today is March 3. The salmon has an odor and does not taste fresh at all. What has happened to the quality? Given packaging there is not a way to assess the freshness of the product. Bad fish was rare in the past. What has changed?

I initially bought this thinking I’d bake the whole thing because I was too nervous to try it raw. I checked the dates, made sure the fish was cut nicely and there was a nice amount of pink with minimal fat. I only chanced it for reasons being that the fish had zip zero fishy smell, no stickiness or slime, no runny liquid, and because it says on the package sashimi grade-all that and after having watched other people actually eat it raw. So the verdict…this was the best $34 ever spent on salmon. This beats paying $5 at the restaurant for 1 sushi hand roll. I’m super full and super satisfied. I had light soy sauce with wasabi at home and made my own little dip. I was in my happy place! Definitely recommend.

I had to throw it out immediately. The smell was horrible! We did the pre order pick up shopping. Clearly someone must have shopped our choices and left it in the cart overnight unrefrigerated. We paid 20.00 and they would not refund us unless we came back in with receipt. The point of having the shopping service was to avoid contact as much as possible in this covid 19 pandemic.

So the new packaging, portions, and price, are about ridiculous compared to the old, full size, uncut fillet. Everyone I know and seen at the store was furious over this on top of the recent reviews. While we obviously enjoy the salmon and its quality, this new step was in the wrong direction. The first come people are getting the thick cut centers while us daily working folk who come later end up with tail ends and bits. Please go back. We want our 'reel big fish'!

It has a smooth, tender texture and flakes beautifully when cooked. I tried both baking and pan-searing, and in both cases, it held up well—moist, flavorful, and fresh-tasting. There was no fishy aftertaste, which is a good sign of freshness.

I have been buying salmon from Sam's club for years and have always been very pleased until my last purchase. Apparently, they have switched to a different supplier and I am not happy at all. I prepared our salmon the same way I always do and it was not edible! The texture was off and the taste was even more off! I will not be purchasing this product again! Please go back to the old supplier!

We really enjoyed this product. We found it tasted great and was very high quality--tastes rich in that farmed salmon way. The shrink style packaging is very well done and appears to keep the salmon fresher, longer. We found this product superior to that which could be purchased in the competing warehouse club. We had some slight concern about freshness as we obtained via club pickup. But all was well and our piece had a best by date many days in the future. We prepped with a soy honey BBQ glaze. We baked about 1/3 of the side of salmon in the oven or toaster oven @ 400 degrees for 5 minutes, then turned on the broiler for another 5-6 minutes to caramelize the glaze and finish the cooking.

Salmon is a great "meat" substitute, easy to season, cook and serve my family with veggies!!
