It's not worth the couple bucks!

I was a regular chocolate Premier protein drinker and I thought I would try these out hoping to save a couple of bucks. The taste is pretty terrible and they gave me horrible stomach issues. I ended up throwing most of them away and I will stick with Premier from now on.

Disgusting taste and mouth feel

Absolutely disgusting taste and mouth feel. My DH bought these when he couldn't find Fairlife Protein Shakes and these Member's Mark 30g High Protein Shakes do not come close to the Fairlife 30g Protein shakes. The Member's Mark shakes taste like chemicals and are gritty, the chocolate flavor is non-existent. We now have a 16 pack of these shakes we won't drink. We each opened one and poured them down the drain after one taste for me and two for DH.

Very inexpensive cost per gram of protein

I really didn't notice much difference in taste between this and Premiere Protein (the brand most people are comparing this to). Premiere Protein gives you flavor alternatives, so that's good. However, strictly economically, Member's Mark costs 4.9 cents per gram of protein, and Premiere Protein is about 5.8 cents, making this about 16% cheaper.

These shakes taste nasty

Just bought a case of this, since they were out of the muscle milk at the store. I agree with some of the other reviews. This stuff tastes nasty. The Chocolate Muscle Milk that they carry tastes much better and is a little better for you when you compare the Nutritional facts. I'll be returning the rest of the unused case.

BEWARE! I got awful pains in my gut

I tried this rather than Premier last time I was at the store, unfortunately. When I first tried it it was hard to get over the taste. Some describe it as chalky, seemed like a really strong peanut butter taste to me with a little chocolate added in, but as a lover of chocolate and peanut butter, it was not a good taste. Definitely not like any chocolate I'd tasted before! I kept forcing myself to drink it every so often til I got used to the taste. Then I started drinking it once a day to use up the box. A couple of days ago, after drinking it every day for the last 7-10 days, I began getting a really sharp, severe pain beneath my right ribcage that I didn't associate with anything specific I was doing/eating. But it really started to worry me, I wondered if it was my liver or colon or something serious. It would come and last for a while and then go away. Very painful!! I never associated it with this drink until yesterday I drank 1/2 bottle without eating or drinking anything other than water and within a couple of minutes the pain started again. Needless to say I didn't drink another sip and the pain went away. It never occurred with other things I ate throughout the day and I haven't had it since. I'd never had this pain before a couple of days ago. I'm glad it happened right then so I could know that it was the source of this pain. If it had continued I was going to call my doctor, because it was so concerning. I don't know what they put in this stuff, but buyer beware!! I've got 3-4 bottles left and I'll try to return them or throw them out. Not worth organ damage!

Good enough.

Pluses: Good calorie count and low carb Not too thick Decent chocolate taste Good amount of protein Not great: Adding so many vitamins leaves an aftertaste I don’t like thickeners in protein drinks, but every single one has them I keep them ice cold and use a big wide milkshake straw to get it down quicker. I don’t have time to stop and eat lunch and wash my hands, so they’re a convenient way for me to get protein without too many calories. I’ll repurchase.

GREAT as coffee creamer to boost daily protein.

I add HALF of this each day to my morning coffee...its is perfect. I do not care for it straight out of the carton, but love it as an add in to boost recipes and such. I wish it did come in different flavors, but for now I simply add a tablespoon of coconut coffee syrup (or sometimes pepermint...yum!).

Absolutely Awful - Hard to Even Get Through

So, when Sam's pulled the sneaky move of swapping the 18 count Premier Protein shake packs with the smaller 15 count Premier Protein shake packs, while keeping the price exactly the same - you know, reducing the product amount by 17% but not reducing the price at all - I was ticked off. But then I saw the Member's Mark version of the Premier Protein shakes ... in the old 18 count for the usual price. Ah, okay I see the game here. Anyway, I had hope when I saw this. I'm not necessarily brand loyal if there's a comparable alternative, so I was down with trying the MM brand protein shakes. Unfortunately, they only come in chocolate right now. Deep down I knew better than to buy these given that the chocolate flavor of the Premier Protein is the most disgusting, not-even-remotely-chocolate-flavored "chocolate" protein shakes. And these MM shakes are packaged and distributed by the same company that does the Premier Protein ones. But for some reason I had hope. Sadly, these Member's Mark chocolate protein shakes taste EXACTLY like the chocolate Premier Protein shakes ... which is to say, utterly disgusting and only tolerable if you chug them fast, avoiding any taste buds if possible - straight down the gullet. Now, my hope at this point is that Sam's Club will order these shakes from the supplier in the truly good Premier Protein shake flavors, like the Mocha, Peanut Butter Cup, or the BEST, the Caramel flavor. If we can get some 18 count packs of the Member's Mark (aka Premier Protein) protein shakes in THESE flavors for this same $22 price, then we'll be in business and Sam's Club will be rocking some great shakes at great prices. So now, we wait. But these chocolate ones are not worth a fraction of the cost, simply because of the awful flavor.

I have regerts and regrets

Maybe this would have received a "below average" rating if I hadn't already tried FairLife...but I did and this is chalky, watery, and disappointing. I tried just refrigerator cold and then tried putting it in the freezer hoping the colder temp would improve the taste...alas it was not to be. Back to Sam's it goes and I will give Premier Protein a try.

understand the nutrition label

OK tasting, but leaves after taste; prefer Fairlife 30 grams as milder chocolate flavor; you should understand the nutrition label for these protein drinks; most drink labels treat 50 grams of protein as 100% of the Recommended Daily Value (RDA); however, the RDA for protein is based on a person's weight and their amount of physical activity, so that there is not one RDA value of protein that applies to every person; the general daily dietary guideline for adults is 0.8 grams of protein per kg of body weight (which converts to 0.36 grams of protein per pound of body weight); most nutrition drink labels list 30 grams of protein as 60% of the RDA which would mean that 50 grams of protein would be 100% for the RDA; however, by working backwards (divide 50 grams of protein by 0.36 grams of protein per pound), it means that 50 grams of protein would only be 100% for a sedentary 139 pound person; however, many adults weigh more than 139 pounds, and thus, they would have a greater RDA for protein; for example, an 150 pound person needs 54 grams for 100% of daily protein, and an 180 pound person would need 65 grams of daily protein for 100%; and for a very physically active person and someone who is trying to build muscle, they could need up to twice that amount of the daily protein that a sedentary person needs; also, as people become elderly, they tend to lose muscle mass and need more than the recommended minimal RDA protein; thus, while you should pay attention to the number of “grams of protein” listed per the bottle label, the percentage of what those grams represent for each person's RDA of protein depends on the individual person's weight and daily physical activities;
