They currently are sharp and I love that with the self sharpening block they will stay that way. The only downside is the block is HUGE and I wish it was shorter so fit on the counter better.

I was so amazed the first time I used the chef's knife, cut through raw potatoes like going through butter.

They feel very well balanced and have a good feel to them. The block is very impressive and has a beautiful finish to it. The ceramic sharpening rods do a great job of keeping a keen edge to the blades.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I got these as a wedding gift. These were an upgrade to my previous Ikea Knifes. I knew my knifes were low quality, but these just blow them out of the water. These make prep easy and fun. My steak knifes are perfect, makes it so much easier and I am no longer destroying my steaks with low quality knifes that rip them apart. I am happy I have not had the knifes long enough to test the sharpening yet to see if it works or is just a gimmick, but I expect good things with these knifes.

Granted, I replaced a smaller set with this larger 20- piece set, but the block is still much much bigger. That being said, the knives are beautiful and sturdy. I have only used the small paring knife at this point, but I was happy with how sharp it was cutting grapes even though it's not serrated!
