This is the first year I've been unable to use my normal laptop with TurboTax that has my prior years filings. Apparently a 7 year old laptop is now obsolete with TurboTax. Also, the price went up 50% for one of the two programs I normally purchase. I'm afraid TurboTax has outpriced itself from the common man's budget or small business owners.

We had some figures input from a K-1 that were not flowing through to Sch. E. When we contacted support they suggested creating another K-1. This was after TurboTax had reviewed the return and found no errors. While the new K-1 cured the problem it shakes confidence in the entire program. If the amount was entered once it should work. Period.

Desktop version does not walk you through step by step on many section you would expect it to. There is much to be desired in both desktop and online. Online is WAY too expensive and doesn't have the ease of bulk editing like the desktop version does. You can't copy/paste text in the desktop version if you need to look up something on google (because you know the help in the app won't be good enough). State parts leave MUCH to be desired....Really, no e-file for state even though I paid $55 for it? I still need to print and mail myself. Also, I had to re-enter in ALL of my information from the online version BY HAND again because the tax download file from the online version must have been corrupted/incompatible. No one was available from support. Navigating the interface was often frustrating. Who knows if I got the state filing correct because they really didn't help with much at all or explain it. Next year I be actively looking for other solutions.

The Oklahoma State return kept me in a loop with the Form 506 which I was not eligible for but it would not transmit my return saying additional information was needed. After answering questions any time I have to go back to a step, my answers are not all saved and they have to be redone.

I have been using TurboTax for years. There were some inconsistencies with the transfer of W2 income for QBI deductions. I was left trying to find answers myself. This was quite time-consuming. There should have been more clarity on the 199A forms and the transmittal of the correct W2 amounts regarding director compensation and employee compensation. You had very little support for me.

It can sometimes get complicated if you need to update a number but being able to switch from the quick guide to the form to the worksheets is super helpful to find and correct any errors. And the little links for tips on calculation, source, or definition are a huge time saver.

Overall, I was able to complete the tax return needed for my trust. However, trying to get to the right outcome of no taxes due was not intuitive since I needed to enter the amount of the distribution to not be taxed on the trust return... 100% was not the right answer.

I have been using turbo tax for 30 plus years. It gets worse every year. Terrible customer service and just want more and more money. Please do not buy this if you do not have to. I started with Turbo tax many years ago, and I am locked in due to the fact that all my information rolls forward to the next year. Avoid turbo tax if you can

customer service is very helpful and try to help you and any situation

It would be excellent if the desktop version integrated with Quickbooks Online.
