Turbo Tax Gets the Job Done

I spoke with tax expert Marissa from Pennsylvania. Her assistance was awesome. She was patient while I downloaded Chrome and she got my TT for a C Corporation downloaded and running. The one issue I have with TT for business is the lack of an online solution for C corporations and requiring you to download a version to your PC.

Difficult to use, very little useful help

Very little useful information in the help files to explain terms, or explain the differences between various classes of trusts, etc. Turbotax Business was used to file for a Trust, without distributions this year, yet the program insisted I make a distribution and prepare distribution forms.

Turbotax for Business poor quality prevented efile

The software is okay, except there's no Mac version. It generated the forms just fine, but had inexplicable errors that prevented me from e-filing either the federal or state return and forced paper filing instead. Claimed "some values are too large and caused calculation errors" in a non-required estimated payments form. No way to fully delete the form or correct any values. Intuit's software just keeps getting worse and worse. AVOID!!!

TurboTax Business Desktop version (for C-Corp)

I have been using TurboTax online for years with great success, and for personal taxes or a pass-through entity, it works great. This year I needed to file a C-Corp tax return. TurboTax Online does not handle C-Corp returns, so I opted to download the Desktop version - TurboTax Business 2024. For starters, you can not directly import QuickBooks information from Quickbooks Online into the desktop version of TurboTax Business. You have to have QuickBooks desktop software installed on your computer, because TurboTax Desktop automatically looks for a Quickbooks Desktop file (.QBW), and doesn't give you the option to browse for a file manually. There is a migration tool that lets you convert a downloaded .QBXML file from QuickBooks Online, and import it into the QuickBooks Desktop software (if you even have the desktop version, and have an active subscription to it), which you can then finish setting up your company in the QB Desktop version, and then if all went well, you can hopefully import it into TurboTax Desktop. Unfortunately, I only have Quickbooks Online and NO subscription to Quickbooks Desktop. I was able to download a 30-day TRIAL version of Quickbooks Enterprise (Desktop), but unfortunately, it doesn't play very nice with the migration tool. After 2 solid days of trying to get the migration tool to complete a migration without any errors into the trial desktop version, I was finally able to verify my data in the desktop version, and then import it into TurboTax desktop, which also didn't go smooth the first couple of tries. The trial version would often times close by itself or give some kind of error preventing TurboTax from completing the import. Apparently both programs have to be running for the import to take place, TurboTax desktop doesn't seem to be equipped to import a QB desktop file by itself. This would probably go a lot smoother if Intuit gave TurboTax Desktop version the ability to import directly from Quickbooks Online, or at least be able to import data using the QBXML file that is downloaded from Quickbooks Online. The whole idea of having to use the Quickbooks Desktop software as a middle-man for importing into TurboTax Desktop is poor design, or a terrible oversight, in my opinion. Better yet, Intuit could just outfit Turbotax Online to handle C-Corp returns and import directly from Quickbooks Online, and do away with all of this software requirement craziness. Wish I could give 5 stars, but this whole C-Corp process with Turbotax has been a nightmare, and I came very close to opting for a different solution. Aside from all of the absolute insanity with importing the Quickbooks data, the software by itself performed pretty well, but next year, if nothing has changed, I'll have to find a new solution. I'm not buying QB Desktop software (in addition to QBO) just for the ability to import my data into TurboTax Desktop software.

Not happy with Turbo Tax this year

I have used TurboTax for at least 20 years. And I have had to file a trust return using your Business program for the last 14 years.. Since you no longer sell the CD, I had to download it, I was given the incorrect information about which program I needed and therefore downloaded the wrong forms. After 6 phonecalls (which were supposed to have been recorded) I finally asked for a refund and deleted your whole program. I then purchased it from Costco online and was finally able to download the program. However, since I have done it before, I found this year's directions pretty confusing. I'm just hoping my return is correct. I still have to do my Federal return and hoping it goes more smoothly. I'm not sure I will be using TurboTax next year

States that don't have efile

Each year I almost miss what to do with my state filing. My state (NC) doesn't do efile but Turbo Tax doesn't remind me to print my state forms and mail them. I efile federal and it wants to say You're Done! This needs to be addressed with a reminder somewhere.

Returning user for 2024

I returned to TurboTax after using a competing product for several years. I was disappointed with the ability to import pdf data from my prior year return but found it easy to enter info. A couple of things looked like errors but I was able to work through them. Overall, it was easy to use and i was happy with the purchase.

TurboTax Business is Great!

I've used TurboTax Business download for several years for several business returns each year (you can do up to 5 business returns each year). It's easy to use and mostly intuitive. I'll continue to use it. the download is cheaper than the online version. A great thing is that it remembers your basic info from one year to the next, and then you just input the current year's numbers.

Bit clunky for doing a Trust's taxes, but worth it

This was the first time I have filed a return for the trust I administer. I have paid a preparer to file the past 2 years since the trust was created. I found the software a bit clunky and dated-looking, but it worked well. I had to search the internet to find out where to put information that was not asked in the step-by-step process, such as the income and withholding from a 1099-R. I finally found the wirhholding area after going to forms, then clicking links within the forms until I landed on the right worksheet. I'm finished, and it was worth the time, effort, and monetary savings to DIY this year.

auto populated values are lagging

Partner accounts and depreciation & amortization report values should carry over and auto populate in the software . it takes a lot of wasted time to look for this information . What is the point to use Turbotax year over year and have everything available if you don't do that .
