This was my first time doing an estate tax return (my parents very small estate). It was not difficult and what I did not understand , it was fairly easy to find the right answer. My biggest complaint is the cost. This is a very expensive program. It was $171 for Fed and $55 for the state. The personal versions of Turbo tax are a much better deal and they are on "sale" sort of at the beginning of tax season. I wish they had a smaller version for less cost.

This is a clunky and confusing software. It was easier to do it long handed by myself last year. The real death nail is that it doesn't even work with Quickbooks Online. It requires you to export QBO data to QB desktop version if you would like it pull in QB data - totally laughable.

the state filing is getting worse and worse. i purchased only to be unable to file. Am stuck in a continuous loop of adding the state and downloading the state, then readding the state and downloading it again. i've installed removal tools supplied by turbo tax but run into the same issue. i've waited for forms to be completed by my state and still the same issue. please fix the states issue.

I have happily used TurboTax Individual for 25 years but was disappointed with TurboTax Business that I used as a trustee for a family trust. It lacked the running tally on the top, was not intuitive, did not have explanations for all areas, and there was no option to hand off to an expert. It was more expensive and did less.

I strongly dislike that I had to pour over tons of IRS publications and website content to fill out the appropriate forms within this software. It pretty much made this software purchase useless... why didn't it ask me if I did any of those things & then help me determine which spreadsheets/tax forrms are required? Even more so, if you wanted to help me to make sure I filled out the correct forms why didn't you give me descriptions and examples of those tax forms so that I can make the best decisions without having to rely on the IRS website? It's self defeating, and definitely wouldn't recommend Turbotax business to anyone trying to build a small business, it's worth paying an accountant because this software sure isn't going to help anyone.

I have been using TurboTax for at least 30 years and it works better every year. I have been doing Partnership and S-Corp returns for businesses that had income from several states and TurboTax helped with the allocation to the proper forms and helped keep me out of trouble over the years. The software will ask you questions that make you think about what you are doing and should keep a person from rushing through the process and into future letters from the IRS or State Governments.

Although I do enjoy Turbo Tax, the internet requirement and lack of a disk is making me consider other options for next year. My businesses are in a rural area and internet is not available at a reasonable cost. I have to drive into town to get service and this is a chore for me. Please consider going back to a disk and make it possible to work on stuff without internet service.

This was my first time using TurboTax Business to submit taxes for a trust. My biggest issue is that I was surprised that there was no user interface or instructions within the product to support entry of a 1099-R. Even if the IRS has different requirements for handling 1099-Rs, to help your users, TurboTax should provide a user friendly way to enter the 1099-R information, and then handle the information to meet the IRS requirements. Instead, the users are left to search through the messages of other users, and read IRS and State instructions. Additionally, I wanted taxes to be paid by the trust, not the beneficiaries. Even after searching and reading through input from other users, the only way I could figure to do this was to say that I did not make any distributions in 2024 (so the trust paid the taxes). The trust will have very little income in 2025, so I'll report the distributions and generate K-1s next year. Hopefully, this won't get me in trouble. On the positive side, this was certainly easier than filling out all of the forms manually.

TurboTax for Trusts (Form 1041) is improved this year. The process for computing the distribution deduction is now seamless, as long as all of the net income is distributed to beneficiaries. This has been a major complaint of mine in the past. This software would be even better if it offered electronic downloads of Form 1099s from brokerages, as is available with TurboTax Form 1040 software.

TurboTax gets more confusing every year. It never uses the same depreciation schedule as QuickBooks and makes it increasingly difficult to override the Turbo Tax calculations. The documentation and help features are worse every year as well. insult to injury, it forces me to log into Intuit to use a product I have downloaded from Intuit.
