Turbotax has been great for us for many years. It allows you to work through and better understand the forms and how they work. It helps to ensure accuracy, and allows you to easily port year over year information. You can upload directly from QuickBooks as well.

the program would not download my state. tried on 5 or six occasions and it would not let me select california and instead decided i really meant washington. i gave up and filed my 1040sr but had to manually input the ca. info into another program. this same thing happened last year on the business program for a 1041 return. needless to say, unless you can convince me you have fixed the problem or at least give a phone number to call and help fix or tell me how to, i am done with turbo tax.

I used TurboTax Business Desktop to complete a final-year trust return (Form 1041) along with the California fiduciary return (Form 541), including a home sale with stepped-up basis and K-1 distributions to beneficiaries. Overall, the software performed well and allowed me to successfully complete and e-file both federal and state returns. The workflow was structured, error checking was helpful, and the automatic generation of K-1s worked as expected. However, there are areas where the experience could be improved—particularly for trust and estate filings. Some sections lack clear explanations, especially around fiduciary concepts like allocating deductions between taxable and tax-exempt income. In several places, the software asks for inputs without explaining why they are needed, which can be confusing for users without advanced tax knowledge. Additionally, California fiduciary adjustments and related worksheets are not very intuitive, and the character limit on trust names caused inconsistencies between federal and state entries. With clearer guidance, better explanations, and more real-world examples, TurboTax Business could be an even stronger tool for complex trust filings. Despite the complexity of my situation, I was able to complete the return successfully, which speaks well to the overall capability of the software.

Turbo tax desktop has some UI design issues. Some of the blue scroll bars in forms menu are hidden behind the grey scroll bar. Also, major issue is with balance sheet that does not explain where to balance once you are in the guide me view after final balance sheet identifies an area with balancing. Overall Turbo tax is awesome and gets the work done with some assistance from the online help experts who are deeply knowledgeable and help resolve the errors.

I have two significant challenges with the Turbo Tax for Business software: (1) Why can't Turbo Tax make the software work the same way the individual product works, i.e., download 1099s from bank and brokerage accounts and populate appropriate forms; and (2) It is crime that Turbo Tax does not make its business software for a Mac. Any family LLC or partnership needs to file a Form 1065 and cannot use Turbo Tax if they work in a Mac environment.

Program would not allow me to make a correction to "Federal Asset Entry Worksheet" on line relating to Special Depreciation Allowance - under Regular Tax. Error check says amount should be "blank" BUT I was unable to remove the "0" to leave it blank. Any suggestions on how to fix this error.

The software is OK, but I had a glitch when I updated the Federal Business Activity code in the Federal Return and it didn't flow over to he Alabama State return. Fortunately, Intuit has a great support staff and some excellent screen share capabilities. We were able to resolve it within 10 minutes.

Cumbersome to move around in. Difficult to find specific items to edit. Missing ablity to import 1099's from financial institutions (at least I coudn't find it). This is critical for trust returns. The Help function is woefully incomplete or uniintelligible. Inability to exchange which state I want to do returns for, forcing me to purchase the one I want and ignore the default one.

Product is very expensive and seems to have few glitches. I had to redo the return from scratch because it would not let me Transmit, becasue it was showing some phantom member forms. I spent couple of hours trying to find and remove the but they would come back every time. Once I created all new report I was able to transmit but now it only shows status of Federal report even though state was transmitted at the same time. Generally a bit dissapointed, it used to work much better. Not having a Mac version of the software is also and issue. As a Mac user I need to use another computer.

TT Business seems to be the forgotten stepchild, yet it costs more. For my Trust return, I couldn't download 1099s or file my state electronically. It also didn't explain what many forms were, instead simply asking me if i needed to add them. I had to look them up myself. while I am happy with the regular TT, TT Business is not very good.
