Why the negative reviews?

I am not sure why there are so many negative reviews for this product. I felt like our basement was moist for a while. When I saw this de-humidifier at Sam's on sale I decided to give it a try. My husband hooked it up without any issue and we waited to see what happened. I didn't expect to see any water in the unit for a few days - lo and behold after 45 minutes the tank was full. We have been running the unit for about 2 weeks now, and the unit still fills up with water, although at not as fast of a rate. I cannot speak on the pump feature of the unit since we have not been able to get it to function properly - although admittedly, we have not given too much thought to it.

Excellent Dehumidifier

I purchased this unit to replace a Soleus Air unit that had finally given up in my basement. When searching for a replacement I was surprised by some of the negative Midea reviews since I own several of their small appliances and have no issues myself, so I went with my gut and purchased the 50-pint, Smart Dehumidifier. So far it works great, and I've had zero issues. The main thing my new unit had to have is a continuous drain feature because trying to remember to empty one is a pain. While I'm not an overly tech driven guy I do like the app that allows me to check operation without having to go to the basement to do so. The controls are easy to use, it has a slim profile, and the rollers make it easy to move. The unit operates quietly and I'm able to keep my basement dry which is the ultimate goal.

Not the one.

Poor Quality

The unit is not used very often, and yet when I went to use it this spring/ summer the fan turned on, but the compressor did not. The unit is stored most of the time in a clean environment. No reason for it not to work beside poor quality.
