Seems iffy to me

I just got this assembled. There's no telling when I'll get to try it out in snow—next week or next year. But I do have strong opinions about the assembly, so I'll go ahead and review it on that basis. It was a time-consuming pain to put together. I know it's supposed to be easy to assemble, and conceptually it is. And it's not like I've never done assembly before, or have trouble following written directions. But when you're an older woman who doesn't have great eyesight and hand strength, it can be a problem! You have to line up holes, some of which are very small. Some of the handle pieces fit together tightly, and I got bitten trying to fit them together in one instance. Attaching the lower part of the crank to the base unit was almost impossible. This is done with a cotter pin, not unlike a bobby pin, but VERY tight and hard for me to spread, and the holes I had to align to get it in were small. I finally used a real bobby pin to align the holes, and then with God's help somehow managed to force the cotter pin into place. The weak point is the joint between the lower chute and the base unit. You fit it into a collar and align it, turn it to lock it, then put in a small screw to secure it at the back. Not so simple. It took me awhile to get it to lock properly because the lips of the plastic parts were so small. Then when I got that done and got the top of the chute screwed on, I found the front of the lower part of the chute had come loose, so I had to unscrew it and reattach it. I have to wonder if it's going to withstand the pressure of the snow coming out of it. I really think it should have at least one more screw, in front, to ensure it stays in place. The written instructions weren't fully accurate. There isn't a diagram that shows and labels all the parts. I almost missed the little screw for the chute. Some of the diagrams were so detailed—“busy”—that it was hard to tell exactly what I was supposed to be looking at. It also seems the instructions weren't updated to reflect manufacturing changes, so there were errors.

Good for a few inches of snow

First of all, this machine comes with a significant design flaw. The plastic output chute comes with only one machine screw to hold it in place and it immediately blew off when the snowblower was engaged. I had to rig a few additional machine screws into the unit to hold it in place. The snowblower itself is generally effective on up to 4 inches of snow. Beyond that, it is not large enough to do the job. It does seem powerful enough to remove light or wet snow, but certainly not heavy snow or ice. Having used a gas powered snowblower for many years and going to a smaller electric machine, having to deal with the cord getting in the way of operating the unit can be annoying and cumbersome.

excellent snow thrower

used for the first time on my deck. had 5-6" of wet, fairly compacted snow and this little guy buzzed right through it effortlessly. I was impressed by the throw distance coming from the chute. Glad I bought it and the price for value is excellent.

Not a bad little machine

It's great not having to try to start a gasoline engine in the cold, on Friday of last week it was -20 and we got about 5 inches of snow. This little guy did the job and did it well. I would give it 5 stars but the chute likes to vibrate and come off, so I had to stop several times and reattach it.

Actually, Better Than Expected!

This item was well priced at Walmart and arrived just on time, on the date it was expected. Took a little longer than expected to put together since the instructions are not very user friendly. One other issue was we were missing a part when putting it together only to find it had fallen out of the sealed box on the driveway when delivered? Not sure if it wasn't properly secured at the factory or that we received a returned Snow Joe? That said, we had a large dump of snow a few days ago and our new Snow Joe cleared the better part of the drive way. Couldn't handle the stuff at the end of the driveway but it did ease the job somewhat by clearing a better part of the driveway. Glad we went with the 13 amp.

No more shoveling snow!

Ordering was easy; great price and free shipping; delivery was one day less than expected. I bought Snow Joe Ultra for clearing sidewalk and paths to my bird feeders and the oil fill pipe. It will also be used to clear 3-4 feet of snow from in front of garage doors to make plowing easier for hubby. Assembly of Snow Joe was easy up to point of inserting cotter pin into the holes of the Lower Crank Rod and opening at the back of the Housing - had to ask a neighbor for help with this. He did not have an easy time, but finally got the pin in place. Once fully assembled, I used it for the first time blowing approximately five inches of ice-crusted snow, and the Snow Joe met all of my expectations. Its light weight made it easy to handle going forward and backwards. Using my Snow Joe sure will be easier on my back than shoveling!

Waste of money - Poorly designed

Don't waste your money on this thing. Discharge spout keeps coming loose. So-called locking ring won't hold. Only secured by one screw. Wet heavy snow plugs discharge. Not good for 1" light fluffy snow, just blows it out in all directions. Discharge spout poorly designed, doesn't throw all the snow away from machine, some just pours out right beside spout.

Basically works well, maybe too well, at throwing.

Not happy that the chute repeatedly was knocked loose of its 'mooring' and had to be 'restrained' to be of use. Luckily I had the appropriate pair of screws to hold it in place while still allowing it to rotate as necessary. Otherwise it worked just as expected and I am, for the most part, pleased. Quite sure it would not end so well with your less equipped customer(s).

Snow Joe Electric Snow blower

This thing is great. It's perfect for our deck. I use our big gas one for the drive and walks, but this is light and throws the snow surprisingly far. No more fighting the gas blower up onto the deck, nor back breaking shovelling! Had the same issue with the chute as others, but easily fixed. I used it on wet snow as well as up to 6-8” already. Overall this is a great unit for the price. I could hear the motor get a little taxed with the wet snow, but it still threw it like a champ. Highly recommend for decks or smaller areas. Cheers!

A Pleasure to Use

I purchased this snow blower in the summer of 2020 but didn't get a chance to use it until January 2021. Once I did use it, I was very surprised by how well it works. It was very easy to put together the handle and chute. I have a 50 ft driveway and 2 short sidewalks of 10 and 20 ft. This machine really cut through the snow and completely cleared both sidewalks and driveway in a matter of minutes as compared to the hour it would have taken to shovel by hand. It does bog down a bit it in wet, heavier snow but I sprayed a bit of silicone spray in the chute so it didn't get clogged up. As an over 65 year old I very much appreciated its light weight which made it a pleasure to use. I would definitely recommend this unit to anyone who is ready to get rid of their bulky gas powered machines or just to quit shoveling.
