Tough and chewy

I am by no means a ground beef snob but this is awful. It was so tough my teeth hurt to chew it. I made meatloaf with half of it and I thought maybe I did a poor job cause it was so tough. Next night browned it up for tacos and could barely get it broken up with my hamburger chopper. 2nd night it looked fine but had an off smell. I'll never buy this again.

Is there a need to change things up now?

The ground meat was ok just one more day and it was have spoiled. I did return a package of ground beef because it was spoiled. I don’t know why lately this has been a problem. I have been buying ground beef for years and there is a problem with your ground beef.

Tough

I am a pretty decent cook. I know if meat doesn't have enough fat it can get tough quickly. I never had problems until the last 2 times I have purchased this ground meat and now it is off my list. 88% should never be tough. So I question what this grind is made of. I even added ground pork to my meatloaf recipe for added fat and the meatloaf was still slightly tough. If I have to play mad scientist like adding baking soda to my ground beef or an acid to it to make it edible, then I am better off paying a little more elsewhere for better ground beef.

Be aware of the weight.

Adjust broke down the 5.07 pounds of burger. I separated it into two packages. I only got 4.13 4 lb of burger The rest was packaging. At 3.3 ounces Sam's roughly made an extra $1 each package. Times that by the thousands sold each week they have overpriced their customers. I have photos but can't load them here
