use half of the bags on first day and test the salt level after a day or two. salt levels can " bounce" up .

The product is great. The bags may allow some moisture in when sitting in my pool area, but overall, it was close to perfect condition.

I have been using this brand for years in my pool & with great results. Hopefully Sam's will continue carrying this product.

Been using it for years

We have a salt pool and add a bag of pool salt directly in the deep end of the pool. Buying salt that has been formulated for pool use is far better than buying just any bag of rock salt. I find Sam's has the best price for a 40lbs. bag.

I love this pool salt. It dissolves quickly and it does a great job keeping the salt levels where it should be. In other words...a bag goes a long way. ;-)

Turned our above ground pool water green and is nothing like the Morton pool salt I was trying to purchase. Doesn’t seem like the water even got salty, nor do salt levels register with the chlorinator. I question what’s in the product. Now trying to shock the pool and need some Morton’s

As other reviews have mentioned, if you dump this bag of salt directly into the pool, it will stain your liner. I purchased 6 bags of this salt and every bag was like a solid brick. Before adding to the deep end of the pool, I used a hammer to hit the side of the bag to help break things up a bit. The smaller pieces dissolved quickly enough but there were some larger chunks that remained around the bottom edge. The next day I noticed "rust spots" in the liner exactly where those chunks of salt were. My liner is over ten years old so I know every mark in it and these were new. I'm so glad this happened before we replaced our liner! I was a little skeptical of the other people reporting the same issue, but sadly its true. I've never had this problem with Morton pool salt and will always use that from now on. As a work-around, for the remaining bag that I had left, I broke up the bag into large chunks and then dissolved a few chunks at a time into a 5 gal bucket and added the salty water from the bucket directly into the skimmer basket. Do yourself a favor and use Morton pool salt and you'll never have to worry about staining your liner.

Dissolves surprisingly quickly in cool (62F) water. Added 8 bags all at once, tested salinity one hour later, test came out spot on. Great use of the online ordering process, since they brought over 300%23 of salt out to my truck without me having to schlep it out myself. 10 out of 10, will do that again.

We bought this salt when putting up our new pool last summer and we diluted in a bucket of water before throwing in pool and we never had a problem with stains. our pool stayed perfect all summer. Looking to buy more to get ready to open pool in spring.
