works great for us.

Best deal around. I've used this every time we've had to add salt including first use for 2 years. We have not had any trouble with it not dissolving or with it staining the liner. BUT we are in Texas so the pool stays in the high 80s. Might be that it needs warm water perhaps.

damaged items

the plastic bag had a hole in it. It was leaking at the registry. the lady did give me some tape to put over the hole. after i got home i had salt all in the back seat. i found several other holes in the bag. i did go back to get another bag and i found that the bags were damaged in shipping. there was salt all over the floor and it was very dangerous to walk on.

Salt Pool= summer fun!!

I recommend putting a hold on the bottom of the bag and pouring it directly on top of the water jet that’s in your pool. Otherwise it’s going to sit in one spot until dissolved. If you put the pool salt directly over the jet, it will push the salt throughout the pool. It works best at least in my opinion.

Getting Staining Red Dirt

Picked up 6 bags of this salt from Sam’s last night and dumped one in the pool on the steps after dark. Got up this morning and went outside and there was orange colored residue all over my top two steps. People this stuff was not easy to get off the Gunite finish. Be cautious dumping this product In your pool.

Also handy for fish ponds...

In any fish pond, it is usually recommended add non-iodized salt, at least 1tsp per gallon (more, sometimes much more, depending on the species of fish you keep). I'd used water-softener salt for decades, finally found this and am VERY happy with it. It dissolves VERY quickly, and provides the perfect balance and protection for my fish. MUCH cheaper than kosher salt, or the salt they sell in a pet shop (for an arm and a leg!). HIGHLY recommended!

Do not buy

I'm not sure how you can screw up salt, but Clorox found a way. It turns your pool water a rusty yellow-brown immediately. I used to add one bag of Morton when my 'low salt' light came on...I tried 2 bags of this Clorox junk and couldn't get the light off. Went back to Morton and now no problem. Save your money and time and just get Morton.

Works Fine in My Gunite Pool

It appears the complaints are from pool owners who have liners. I have a 40,000 gallon gunite pool and put in 22 bags over the past couple of weeks. I always scatter the salt out and don't add it all at once so that it has time to dissolve. This salt is finer than what I previously used and is is dissolving easily with no staining.

1 Star Reviewers Didn’t Read Instructions

Anyone who says they should’ve read the reviews before buying is wrong. Instead, they should’ve read the instructions. When you add the salt you can’t just let it sit on the bottom, you have to brush it around every hour or so until it dissolves. This salt does its job well.

Beware of Iron and Copper in this salt!

Turned my pool green immediately. This salt is contaminated with Iron and Copper. If you get a bad batch, it will immediately react with your chlorine and ruin your pool chemistry. You will have to shock and sequester the iron then vacuum it out. DO NOT BUY THIS!

Warning - Read Reviews!! Stains the Liner

Devastated … worked tirelessly, alone (single mom) to deal with an inground pool that, upon opening, was filled with dirt due to flooding. Literally scooped out the debris by hand for about a week in preparation for a graduation party. Had the pool crystal clear and ready for the salt generator. Purchased this salt, without reading reviews, thinking that Chlorox is a great name so what could go wrong. Dumped in TWO bags, brushed away til dissolved and by the end of the day these awful stains appeared where the salt had gone in. Scrubbing won’t take them out… liner is ruined!
