STAY AWAY from this brand!

I've been a pool owner for 20 years and have NEVER had pool salt stain my liner! We added the Clorox brand (first time using this brand) salt in the shallow end as usual. Walked away for a couple of hours and came back to brush the left over salt to help dissolve and found a huge ugly brown stain on the liner right where the salt was added! We are highly upset and DO NOT recommend using this brand of pool salt!

Clumpy, but fine

Unlike some of the other reviewers, I added this pool salt to my vinyl inground pool with no staining problems whatsoever. It's salt, pure and simple. The idea that there is copper or other metal impurities in the salt sounds like baloney to me. Seems to me there must be something else going on in those pools, and the addition of this salt seemingly resulting in yellow or brown stains is just coincidence. My only complaint is that the salt was clumped up in rather large chunks, as if moisture had gotten in the bag, which made adding the salt to the pool a bit of a pain.

Stained my vinyl liner

I bought this salt and used it several times. I have a vinyl pool liner. After using it one time, I found brown/rust stains in the deep end of the pool. I didn’t know right away what had caused them. I spoke to several different pool people and they all said it must’ve been something I used that had iron in it. I’ve use this salt several times and this had not happened before. The pool store told me they thought it was the Clorox pool salt. Since my liner was already stained/ruined, I tested the Clorox pool salt again in area of the pool...completely stained that spot. In a different place, I used a bag o salt of different brand that I bought from the pool store. No stains! The Clorox pool salt is not a pure product and I do not recommend it for anybody that has a vinyl liner. I saved some money by using the Clorox brand of salt versus buying a more expensive brand from the pool store and now I get to replace a pool liner for $5000.

Best brand for your salt water pool.

Great product for our salt water pool. I have used a number of different brands and the Clorox brand is the best. When you add the salt it immediately dissolves into the pool to quickly enter the filtration system. With the other brands, I had to use the pool brush to break up clumps of salt and sweep it for minutes to get it to dissolve. I highly recommend the Clorox brand.

Worst pool salt ever

Worst purchase ever. I didn't know a company could mess up salt. I bought 4 bags and put 3 in the pool. Turned pump and salt system on it was running fine the 2 weeks later the low-salt light came on and I added the other bag.. still saying low-salt. I did all the trouble shooting and still nothing. I ordered a new salt-system then read someone's review and now I will be going back the Mortons,, and maybe I will be able to return the new salt-system. Thanks alot Clorox for all the trouble

DO NOT USE CLOROX POOL SALT!!!

DO NOT USE CLOROX POOL SALT!!! I put 40lbs into my pool and it IMMEDIATELY left stained places all over my gunite pool. I swept it into the bottom drains immediately and the jets distributed it all over the pool. I now have rust particle stains everywhere. There are so many stains that all I can think of is draining the pool to try and remove them. Who can suggest the best way to get the stains off.

Stained my liner in one day

I have a 2 year old inground liner salt water pool. I have been using Morton and Diamond Chrystal salt with no problem. Yesterday I tried this product because Walmart had it priced about $1 less than Morton. Big mistake! I added it to the pool yesterday. This morning there is a large yellow stain on the bottom of the pool. I sure hope that Clorox steps up to fix this!

STAINED OUR POOL - DO NOT USE - DO NOT USE!

One bag of this salt stained our entire vinyl in-ground pool. I have now spent more than $100 (not including the electric bill running my filter 24/7 for a week already) trying to keep the stain from returning using ascorbic acid and Jack's Purple Magic. The salt dissolved fine - as a long term pool owner, I know how to add salt! This product is a disgrace and I'm disgusted that Clorox does not have better quality control. I've always used Morton Pool salt from Walmart and like an idiot - bought this bag cuz it was cheaper. Cheap no good - I'm paying the ultimate price.

Do not buy

I'm not sure how you can screw up salt, but Clorox found a way. It turns your pool water a rusty yellow-brown immediately. I used to add one bag of Morton when my 'low salt' light came on...I tried 2 bags of this Clorox junk and couldn't get the light off. Went back to Morton and now no problem. Save your money and time and just get Morton.

Clorox Salt Stained my pool liner!

I put (1) one 40 pound bag in and the next day there was a stain where the salt had been dissolving on the liner. I then checked the Walmart site and discovered many others had the same problem. I was totally unaware of this issue. I figured how can you go wrong with salt from a brand like clorox. I have called the distributor and gave a complete description of the problem. Will see where it goes. Looks like the only why to fix it is to drain the pool, replace the liner and refill. Oh yeah, not to mention all the chemicals to balance the water and hundreds of pounds of new salt. Plus hours of time. The picture does not show the stains as well as they can be seen by the human eye. I will take a gopro and submerge it for a better view.
