Best potting mix ever

Great potting mix without the usual overload of woodchips. This is very nice peaty rich soil and my seeds germinate better than ever in this mix. We love the big bag at such a great price. Winner!

Disappointing Product

Absolutely do not recommend. They no longer carry to soil I’ve used for years, so I tried their product. There is a lot of mulch and big pieces of wood in the soil. I’ve also found several pieces of blue plastic material ground up in the soil. If I wouldn’t have dumped both bags in a wheelbarrow I would be taking this product right back to the store. You should be able to run your hands through the soil when you’re planting plants, that is something you definitely cannot do with this product!

Wood chips in potting soil

This is marketed as an indoor/ outdoor potting soil for plants. This should be a "raised bed soil" due to the amount of wood chips / branches. I am glad I only purchased one bag since I need 10 bags total for my plants. I usually use Miracle Grow and was hoping this would be a good alternative. I am taking it outside to put into my compost heaps. Very disappointed in the quality.

Equal amount of soil and mulch in each bag…

I’ll start out by saying I’m not a potting soil snob….I usually use Miracle Grow from Sam’s. This year they didn’t have any so I bought one bag of the Member’s Mark to give it a try. I’m using it to pot up some pretty mature seedlings. I will include a picture of the leftover mulch from a ‘sifter full’ of the soil. The second is the amount of soil after sifting. I have to admit that is nice looking….if that was how it came out of the bag. Well you are going to have to take my word for it…it won’t allow me to post pictures.

Hi Kelly- We’re sorry to hear about your experience. This mix is a premium blend of peat, composted softwood bark, composted forest products, perlite, fertilizer, and a wetting agent. The mix should contain smaller bark pieces to aid aeration and plant stability. If you’re seeing anything different, please call us at 1-800-285-7333, and our team will be happy to help resolve the issue.

So Disappointed

Was disappointed that they did not have Miracle Gro available this year (2026). Took a chance nd bough Members Mark Planting Soil. I am SO DISAPPOINTED with the quality of this soil. There is so much bark and solid matter in it. Bought three bags and plan to return 2.

LOW in nutrients only 10-5-12

LOW in nutrients ! skip this one.the NPK ration on this is 10-5-12 thats HALF of Miracle grow. 21-11-16 i normally buy the miracle grow moisture control from Sams club however i noticed this year they are not carrying it . Your definitely going to need additional fertilizer to get the same result.

I wouldn’t buy this again

I’ve purchased the Miracle gro moisture control potting soil at Sam’s for years so I was disappointed it was not available this year. I purchased this instead hoping it had just been rebranded with the Members Mark name. Thank goodness I only bought one bag. It consisted of a dry, rough, shredded mess - I wouldn’t even call it potting soil. Since I couldn’t figure out how to return it without gettting it all over my car, we threw it away. Hopefully, it’s not like this is all locations!

Unremarkable soil. Gets the job done-not the best.

I figured I'd give this a try because it's about four dollars less than an equivalently sized bag of Mir@cle-Gr0 potting soil. honestly it's better to just spend the extra money. The soil is okay but there are a lot of large chunks and plainly visible for fertilizer pellets, which can burn new roots from young plants. I did pot some young bell pepper plants using this mix. truthfully they are doing well so far, but this soil seems overpriced for what you get in terms of quality. also the bags themselves seem a bit smaller than the 2CU FT bags of the aforementioned brand.

Super Good Potting Mix

Trust me…I have tried nearly every potting mix on the market…Miracle Gro to specialty brands. This soil is Beautiful! It has a Rich, Dark, Even texture and holds moisture seemingly just right. It DOES NOT SMELL or stain the concrete with some funky compost color. This is my first year using it and hopefully Sam’s Club will continue with the same product content. I know as everyone else that having a beautiful garden is an investment and I believe Sam’s has a winner in this potting mix…one that they will become known for. Sam’s DON’T Change a thing because you’ve hit perfection!!

Poor imitation.

Do not buy this if you want your plants to thrive. I am an experienced gardener and have been using Miracle Grow Moisture Control to pot my seedlings into larger containers before setting them out to the garden. My seedlings this year appear stunted and are failing to thrive. The Members Mark potting mix has a lot of larger pieces of bark, some package ( same pallet lead) have mold and dye transfer in the soil. A seriously inferior product to the Miracle Gro brand.
