This product has changed in its consistency from last season. Same packaging. This product contains the same ingredients but are courser in texture. The coconut coir is course shedded as opposed to finely ground coir in last seasons mix. The pine bark is larger but shows good decomposition. I have not used this new courser mix but it looks promising. It should have good moisture retention and excellent aeration.

I have always bought the miracle grow potting soil at Sam’s this year that was not available and I thought I would give their product a try. Big mistake. I opened up the bag. It was actually moldy at the top and musty smelling clumps of wood. This is not good potting soil. My only regret is that I bought two bags. It is a very inferior product so now I am heading to my local store to buy the miracle grow potting soil.

While the price beats the name brand, the quality is just as low. This is more like double ground mulch. Lots of large pieces of sticks and wood. There were clumps of whitish grey that are probably either mold or fertilizer. Either way, not good for planting. I will likely spend the extra money and stick to the name brand next year.

The potting soil is moist and doesn't smell too bad. My husband is out green thumb and so he planted jalapeno seeds to try and make pepper plants. I replanted one of my plants that was failing in the pot it was in. This potting soil was better looking and the plants have began sprouting.

Member's Mark Potting Mix is my new favorite planting soil. The popular brand seems to hold too much moisture. I like to garden and raise plants from seed in a small greenhouse in the early spring. I have used several varieties of garden soil and really like MM soil better than the pricier brands.

My wife has been potting plants for nearly 50 years and she said that this is the worst potting mix that she has ever seen. (Said it reminded her of mulch) It looks like mostly peat moss, with ALOT of wood chips, and a little bit of perlite. We threw it away as I wasn't about to try to seal the bag and haul it back for a refund. Hint, HEY SAM'S, not everything you sell needs to be Members Mark. The Miracle Gro sold the last few years was OK.

i am not happy with this product. i always thought Miracle Gro has a lot of wood pieces in their potting mix, but upon opening my first bag of this Members mark potting mix, i was stunned. there was so much mulch in this potting mix, i had to sift through it first in order to fill a few small pots with actual soil instead of wood chips. very disappointing.

I am beyond disappointed. I have used this soil every year for seed starting and have always been happy. This year this is more like a bag of mulch than soil. Seeds cannot come up through this. Terrible doesn't even begin to describe it. I will return to the name brand but am so sad to do so.

This is potting soil is just as good as the name brand products at a great price. I have used my types of potting soil and typically the lower cost ones are just not as good, but not this one. I have used it for a couple of years and have no complaints.

Throughout the month of April, I purchased many bags of this soil, but the last bag purchased Mid June is not the same soil, if you can even call it that. It is so light and filled greatly with newspaper thickness wood shavings, it’s more like gerbil bedding. It’s all I have so I’m using it even though the quality is poor.
