This product is not good, and it's definitely not potting soil. The bag had a lot of wood shavings (curls and pieces of the edge of a 2 x 4) and possibly some peat moss. You might be able to use this as a soil amendment, but not as a standalone potting soil.

All the plants I planted in pots using Sam's Club potting soil are doing terrible. They are stunted or growing at all. The tomatoes are spindly. The peppers and even basil won't grow. The plants look terrible. The pictures are after three weeks of planting. Almost $50 wasted but even more waste is the vegetables that I won't get. I tried to upload photos but I get an error.

I have mixed opinion on the Member's Mark potting spoil. Cost per cubic foot is about the same as large box store brands. This bag seemed to have decent fines with lots of perlite. Moisture retention has been excellent. The concern is the number of large chunks of wood included in the product. It will work great for full grown plants but needs filtering for seedlings.

The soil was mostly wood chips, very little soil.

Husband loves it. Says its large enough to refill all his plant pots in the spring -- He has the green thumb, not me! He has not gotten any photos of his plant pots yet, I have been waiting!! Him and grandson have plans to use it next weekend when he is here, at least to get the soil into the pots... They're planning to "plant Gamma some flowers and some yummy vebibles (vegetables)" The soil looks rich and good quality. It's a bit cold here in Maine, to actually plant outside right now.

Plants are thriving, so I assume this works. The bag is thick. Thick enough that it didn't get a whole in it until I got it to the car, and that was because I man-handled it. It was very small, but I was pretty proud of myself up to that point. Didn't leave a trail of dirt throughout the store. It is less expensive that the other brand and works.

Great product it's a large bag at a great price. The product is relatively light for the size of the bag. We repotted a couple house plants that were looking a little rough. Both are looking good and have plenty of leftover for spring outdoor plants.

I bought eight bags of this "potting soil" as the usual Miracle Gro brand I have bought at Sam's for many years was not available. In my opinion this product is absolute garbage. There are a ton of wood chips in it, so much so that I wasted a bunch of the first bag I opened screening them out. I called the number on the bag to complain and Pennington answered. They said the wood chips are in it to help hold moisture. I am returning the remaining bags of this product tomorrow. What a joke. Getting rid of the Miracle Gro product to sell your own brand and increase profits is not going to work long term Sam's club. I'll shop at Home Depot for my potting soil going forward. The photos show this product on the left and Miracle Gro on the right. I don't want others to have the same experience and have to return heavy bags of woodchip laden soil.

I should have read the poor reviews before I purchased 4-5 bags of this. I thought it would be comparable to miracle grow moisture control but it is nothing like it. I wanted it to repot my indoor floor plants. If I took all the bark and wood out of the bag the price for the actual dirt would probably have been more than I would have paid for the name brand. I will never purchase a members mark knock if item again

Have bought this the past two years with good results, however this year the potting soil resembles mulch with shredded bark. Sam's must changed vendors...hopefully the soil works out as I spend a lot of money on annuals for pots every year...so far I'm disappointed.
