I never used the original Downy April Fresh fabric softener so I can't compare the newer version with that one. I like a lot of scent on my clothes and the newer version makes our laundry smell sooo good! My current laundry combo is Tide Original, Downy April Fresh and Bounce Outdoor Fresh dryer sheets. This laundry combo makes our laundry smell fresh and clean, soft and static free. If the newer version is too strong for you, I suggest cutting it 50/50 with an unscented fabric softener (it could even be a store brand version) or using less fabric softener per load. If you still don't like the newer version, you could try Snuggle Blue Sparkle.

I’ve always been pretty loyal to Downy and this just made me even more loyal. I plan on buying the full sized version of this to make sure our laundry smells amazing and is nice and soft to touch. My family has used April Fresh Ultra Downy for as long as we can remember. The recent changes have me and my family more than disappointed. Our trust in this company and product has been broken. We have horrid smelling clothing and linens and a pile of medical bills after we all had reactions to whatever this new junk product is that they are peddling as our beloved Downy. I came online to find out if the old formula was still being offered and if my store just wasn't carrying it but now I see we are not the only ones less than thrilled with these unnecessary changes. I am terrified to buy another bottle of Downy in a different fragrance as I am not sure I can trust what is inside. We have never used another fragrance other than April Fresh.

I have had that sweater for a few years and it is not scratchy. It isn't attached out of faded. Thank you for making a great product!

The clothes I hang to dry don't get the "crunchy" feeling some ocassionally get from hang drying. I am very pleased with this product!

Downy has been and always will be the go to brand in my family! Even those with skin sensitivities in my family can safely use it! Our clothing smells great, and the fabric lasts longer! I did a testing of this product for free, but the opinion is all my own! I religiously buy it!

He came home the first day and ask me what I had done different to the wash? I admitted the errors of my ways and ran out to get Downy. The next day he came home and let me know everyone at work had also noticed . That day he received comments about how fresh his clothes smelled. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I used this for one laundry load, while using another leading brand's fabric softener in another load. This is clearly not my first rodeo with Downy, but we wanted to see for sure if there was a difference. Our clothes that ran with Downy were, surprisingly, not only soft but ended up smelling amazing, even after a week of being in the closet. The other load smelled good too, but didn't last as long. As far as fabric softening, both fared well, but Downy's is the best by far. We thoroughly enjoy how our clothes looked *almost* new (I did throw in a lot of old shirts, so Downy couldn't perform miracles). The downside for me (and reason for losing a star) is that when I went to check Downy's prices at several mass merchandisers, they are very overpriced. Considering fabric softening can also occur with dryer sheets, I'm not sure it has a selling point there anymore, so the price cannot be thoroughly justified. Overall, I would recommend the product, if you're really looking for a true fabric softener. But price wise, either stick with dryer sheets or wait for a sale.

They are soft and no static. This bottle lasts you long time. Fragrance is mild not overpowering. Always recommend downy to everyone.

The April Frest scent alone proved me wrong. Not only did it leave my dirtiest laundry smelling like April flowers. My clothes were noticeably softer, fluffy and huggable. There’s no stiffness or leftover residue.
