To ensure optimal performance, we recommend storing the product at room temperature in a cool, dry place and using it within one year. We're sorry to hear that a loyal Downy fan like you feels this way. We can assure you that a lot of thought goes into our products, and it may be helpful know that in 2023, we concentrated the existing formula to deliver more softness and more freshness per dose. The caps remain the same size but there is a "boost" in performance because the concentrated formula moves the recommended amount from bar 1 (approximately 25ml) to just below bar 1 (approximately 22ml). This was done to support households that have larger load sizes but with washing machines that have small dosing drawers. To enable a more concentrated formula, product bottle sizes had to change.
