We gave this a try on our deck. We live in a wet area and always have an issue with mosquitos. This product worked as advertised! It took about 5 minutes after turning it on and the mosquitos were gone. We like it enough to go out and buy two more. I would highly recommend this to anyone that wants to take back their porch.

I bought this hoping it would allow us to sit out somewhat past dusk. We were almost instantly swarmed once mosquito time hit. We had family members run to their cars. Very disappointing. I know mosquitoes is a big problem but this product was supposed to at least help.... not even close.

This is my 2nd review on this lantern and I just want all to know that this lantern works ! no smell ... easy to use ... convenient ...portable ...and keeps mosquitoes away and we have a lot here in Georgia ... I can 'safely " cook out and NOT get bit ...

I bought this for my mom for Mother's Day and it's a great product. We use it camping, when we grill, sitting by the pool, and more. It is just nice knowing that we are safe from all the nasty bugs here in Florida. I would recommend this product for any outside situation.

Admittedly, there's some getting used to - and it's easy to forget to shut the thing off when you're not on the deck so you can go through more accelerant - but this gizmo provides a protective "shield" that deters not just mosquitoes but no-see-ems, gnats, and black flies. It takes about 10 minutes or so for the "shield" to get going, and you should buy refills ahead as the mat works best if you change it each time. Refills are inexpensive and I've not found another product that works as well. We run mosquito magnets in the summer, but they don't deter gnats and black flies - this does. We're on our 3rd season and are buying another for our back deck.

I bought this lamp to replace the Off! Candle lantern as I could not find any refills for it and dealing with the hot wax and open flame was not great at times on the patio. I bought the Bristol model at Lowes and was not impressed by its performance. I had already ordered the Cambridge model from Thermacell's online site as well as refill package. The Cambridge worked much better. I will give the Bristol another try before returning.

Veery pleased although the mat only lasts for 4 hours and I threw away then the rep said it probably would last a llttle longer. For a day working in the garden I will be needing so many mats and thats rather expensive, plus the evening too.But it works thats great

I cannot recommend this product highly enough! Before buying this lantern we could not sit outside for the Mosquitos attacking us. I live by the beach in an area known for a high mosquito population due to the long marsh grasses. I found a great review and gave it a try. I'm so glad I did! Now we can sit outside without worry of getting bitten. Well done ThermaCell!

Amateur astronomy nuts have what are called "Star Parties"; they set up telescopes in the middle of nowhere & spend the night observing. Last summer I attended one on the edge of a marsh and nearly got eaten alive by the skeeters... much worse than usual. They seem to REALLY go to work once the sun sets; the air attacks are like Pearl Harbor being reenacted by Vampires! A bow hunting buddy turned me on to the ThermaCell, and I got one, along with the belt holster. It's pretty early in the season for mosquitoes, but there are other critters out there already; I tried it last night on a trip out of town to a dark sky site way out in the boonies to observe. When I arrived & set up, there were clouds of gnats, and lots black flies all over the place (being next to a cow pasture, and the inevitable byproduct found there, sure didn't help the situation!). Firing up the ThermaCell, in 5 minutes they'd ALL vanished; I didn't see or hear another flying insect all night. Astonishing! I'M CONVINCED!!! The ThermaCell has just earned a permanent place in my eyepiece case!

This lantern really does the trick! I am usually swarmed by mosquitoes so I couldn't wait to try this out. I am very pleased that this seems to do the trick and without having to use a spray or have an open flame which means it's great to use around my kids. I love this and would definitely recommend trying it out.
