Superior Popcorn

We are on our third jug of this amazing popcorn! We use to buy bagged popcorn, but that was before trying the O.R. gourmet popcorn. 98% of the kernels pop! The taste is delicious & like the popcorn we remember growing up with. The price is awesome considering what just 8oz. costs in the grocery store. This is going to be a regular purchase for us! :)

Worst Popcorn Kernels, smushy and hulls

I have an old popper and never had an issue with other brands. Purchased a bottle of this, I thought maybe it is not meant for popper. In the popper it spit out a glob unpopped after a few seconds (same happened when I went to tell my husband about it). Then I popped on the stove, and it comes out not crunchy at all, almost like stale popcorn. The hulls are horrible!!! Even when in popper it spits out hulls all over the place. Do not recommend to anyone. Wish I could get money back.

Works great in a silicone microwave popcorn popper

I buy this at my local grocery store. I use a silicone microwave popper. I set the 1100-watt microwave to about 3.5 minutes. I listen to it pop and wait until most have popped. Occasionally, I have to stop it a little early, but rarely. I scoop out the popped kernels into a container. Any unpopped kernels I stick back in the microwave for 66 seconds. I scoop those popped kernels into the container. I usually have less than 10 unpopped kernels at this point. I add popcorn salt and imitation butter to my popcorn and mix it around for even distribution. I'm ready for my movie.

Popcorn changed for the worst

This popcorn has changed and not for the better. It used to pop large, tender but crunchy popcorn now it pops small and dry like cheap popcorn. It also used to have a buttery flavor on its own and I could always tell what was your product because it was consistently tasty. I won't be buying this any longer spending a lot more money for terrible quality.

The best!

I buy it all the time from BJ's! Just a couple ounces oil in my large pot, a layer of kernels on the bottom, high flame, put the lid on and let it pop. May open the lid a little and take off the stove when the popping has slowed down to almost a full stop. Place the whole pot in the sink with an inch or so of water to prevent burning and it's done. No other popcorn is as good as OR's; they all pop!

It's not just O.R. kernels

I've always bought no-name kernels but about 6-8 months ago I started experiencing the same 50% popped/hard stuff the same as you are describing with O.R. kernels. It's got to be more than just a bad batch. ALL kernel brands seem to have the same issue lately. I do not know why.

Very disappointed

I bought this product recently and opened it for the first time tonight. I made a batch with a hot air popper and was very disappointed with the amount of kernels that didn't pop. I decided to make a second batch but, this time I counted the results. I put 300 kernels in a popper and after giving them plenty of time to pop, I was left with 113 that didn't pop. I will never buy this brand again.

Quality is gone.

Orville might be spinning in his grave. I've been using this brand for years, it was the gold standard. I have an excellent electric popper and it used to pop the 8qt top off with 2/3 of a cup and a tsp and a half of oil. For the last 6 months I have to make 3 batches to fill the same bowl. Tried different stores, even different countries. They are all duds now. Will be returning the last 2 dud 8lb bottles and looking for another brand.

Huge Disappointment

I have always loved Orville popcorn and have enjoyed it for many years, however, the last few times I puchased this product I have almost busted my teeth on unpopped kernels. There are also a ton left at the bottom of my bowl. Not sure if something has changed but I think I might have to try another brand. Very disappointing to say the least!

Near perfect pop rate

I've always had great success with OR popping corn. I do not use oil instead I have a microwave popping glass globe that I can put the corn in "dry" or add a small pat of butter (half a tablespoon). Set in microwave for 5 minutes and I have the popcorn I want/need. The amount of unpopped kernals (I pop 3 tablespoons at a time) is typically 3-5 kernals (making it about a 92% pop rate) this is the best rate I've had of all the brands I've tried.
