Popcorn changed for the worst

This popcorn has changed and not for the better. It used to pop large, tender but crunchy popcorn now it pops small and dry like cheap popcorn. It also used to have a buttery flavor on its own and I could always tell what was your product because it was consistently tasty. I won't be buying this any longer spending a lot more money for terrible quality.

Best Kernels Ever

I've tried many brands of popcorn kernels. I keep coming back to these. I haven't had the experience another reviewer said - that the kernels now don't pop fluffy and have a lot of hulls. Popping your own popcorn is an art - sometimes we get a lot of unpopped kernels or less fluffy popcorn, but it's not about these kernels, it's about heat, movement, amount of oil, etc. This is my go-to stove-top popcorn for over a decade!

Kernels seem to have changed

The past year or so I've noticed the corn isn't popping correctly. I've been using OR brand for over 20 years and have only just started having the issue. Is a different corn being used? I miss the old style that popped nice and fluffy, now most pieces are hard and tough to chew.

Too many hulls

Thought I was buying a top of the line product but I was mistaken. Bought the white corn first and popped it in my hot air popper and waited in anticipation for some good old fashioned popcorn like my mother used to make. Unfortunately I got more hulls than clean popcorn. Thinking it may be a bad batch, I tried it again with the original. Same results. Not the quality it used to be. Orville Redenbacher would not be pleased. Neither am I.

Use Pot - Follow Directions For Perfect Results

Has never failed using oil & pot. We have followed the directions and use our 49 year old family popcorn pot. (had tried air poppers and popcorn makers but when back to tradition). 1/3 cup popcorn plus two table spoons of oil (prefer advacado but will use canola as they have high temp ratings ) - place three kernels in pot, when they have popped add the remainder. When the popping is underway let moisture escape (can use screen or let lid lift) so it is not tough. (too much oil -tough, too little oil or too cool may not pop, too hot may burn). We have had success.

If you cant get this to pop, you're doing it wrong

This has been my go to Popcorn product for many years. I either use my Pro Popper with the twirly handle or if just making a single bowl, using a shaken medium pot with a vent hole on the stovetop with a little canola oil and medium 6/10 heat. The only time I've ever had a problem is when the product has been opened a while and gone stale. Air poppers have too many un-popped kernels so found the tried and true method always worked best.

Taste great, healthy and easy to make in the micro

I got a microwave popcorn maker bowl as a gift from a friend. I use less than a tablespoon of oil, then I put about 3 tablespoons of popcorn and mix it so that the kernels are covered. Then I microwave it for almost 3 minutes using the popcorn button. I wait for the popping to slow; so that tells me when it's ready, so I don't burn the popcorn. After, I spirnkle with a bit of himalayan pink salt if I want to. Healthy snack. Taste great to me. I think popping on the stove is always messy; and people usually tend to get tough kernels. Whoever reads this, try a microwave bowl popcorn maker. Any kernel I've tried even from a different brand comes out pretty tough on the stove top. I don't think it's the brand. This is my go-to popcorn.

It's not just O.R. kernels

I've always bought no-name kernels but about 6-8 months ago I started experiencing the same 50% popped/hard stuff the same as you are describing with O.R. kernels. It's got to be more than just a bad batch. ALL kernel brands seem to have the same issue lately. I do not know why.

It’s the best

My dad has made home made popcorn since I was a kid. I learned how he did it on my own and recommend nothing else. Cover the pan surface with a thin coat of oil. Put the popcorn in just enough for every kennel to have a one kernel even layer. Don’t let them be two kernels high. Start with a little and shake to get them even. Move the top of the pan slightly off to let the steam escape -otherwise your popcorn will be soggy. Turn the setting on your stove to 7. Meanwhile-Melt 2 tablespoons of butter for 45 seconds. Listen to it pop, when it slows down to a pop every second or two, slide it off the heat. Don’t open the lid yet, it will continue to pop for a few seconds. Take the top off and pour half into a bowl. Put 1 tablespoon of butter on and mix it up. Put the rest of the popcorn in your bowl. Add another tablespoon of butter. Mix it up. Then sprinkle one teaspoon of salt and shake.

Worst Popcorn Kernels, smushy and hulls

I have an old popper and never had an issue with other brands. Purchased a bottle of this, I thought maybe it is not meant for popper. In the popper it spit out a glob unpopped after a few seconds (same happened when I went to tell my husband about it). Then I popped on the stove, and it comes out not crunchy at all, almost like stale popcorn. The hulls are horrible!!! Even when in popper it spits out hulls all over the place. Do not recommend to anyone. Wish I could get money back.
