Kernels seem to have changed

The past year or so I've noticed the corn isn't popping correctly. I've been using OR brand for over 20 years and have only just started having the issue. Is a different corn being used? I miss the old style that popped nice and fluffy, now most pieces are hard and tough to chew.

Best Kernels Ever

I've tried many brands of popcorn kernels. I keep coming back to these. I haven't had the experience another reviewer said - that the kernels now don't pop fluffy and have a lot of hulls. Popping your own popcorn is an art - sometimes we get a lot of unpopped kernels or less fluffy popcorn, but it's not about these kernels, it's about heat, movement, amount of oil, etc. This is my go-to stove-top popcorn for over a decade!

Exploding kernels

I make popcorn for family every night on gas stovetop with dedicated popcorn pot with oil. We enjoy many popcorn types, incl. heirloom varietals and grocery store bulk kernels, but Orv Red is the go-to. Kernels explode, literally lifting compression lid off of pot. Lots of unpopped kernels, but pnes that do are same size, crunchy, and flavorful

Tough

I have been eating Orville Redenbacher popcorn for as long as I can remember. But, something has changed. The kernels are very tough. And, it's not just a few kernels. Each handful had numerous tough, un-chewable kernels. So, sad! What is going on???

It’s the best

My dad has made home made popcorn since I was a kid. I learned how he did it on my own and recommend nothing else. Cover the pan surface with a thin coat of oil. Put the popcorn in just enough for every kennel to have a one kernel even layer. Don’t let them be two kernels high. Start with a little and shake to get them even. Move the top of the pan slightly off to let the steam escape -otherwise your popcorn will be soggy. Turn the setting on your stove to 7. Meanwhile-Melt 2 tablespoons of butter for 45 seconds. Listen to it pop, when it slows down to a pop every second or two, slide it off the heat. Don’t open the lid yet, it will continue to pop for a few seconds. Take the top off and pour half into a bowl. Put 1 tablespoon of butter on and mix it up. Put the rest of the popcorn in your bowl. Add another tablespoon of butter. Mix it up. Then sprinkle one teaspoon of salt and shake.

Totally disappointed :(

I am totally disappointed. I placed it on my hot air popper and it was popping violently and flying all over the place, also half of the kernels did not pop. Tried it also on a stovetop kettle, but the result is the same. Half of the kernels did not pop. Wasted my money on a so called gourmet popcorn. I'll go back to the other brand. It's 4 times cheaper and I get twice as much kernels and they all pop on my air popper.

Too tough

I have bought 3 different jars of OR thinking the previous may have been old...the 3 new jars have an expiration date of around 6-2021. They popped good but are hard and tough to chew. I won't be buying for a while, maybe it was a bad crop? It's always been my favorite in the past...very disappointing and I'll be throwing out the rest!

Possible Substandard Kernal Production

I tried this out for the first time switching out from those old microwave bags due to my health relating to palm oil and I gave this a try. I put it on the cooktop following the instructions and half of the batch was unpopped kernals. At first, I thought this was just simply a bad batch but then I went to buy another one and got the same result. As for the overall feel of this product, it's nothing too eye-catching, it's just your regular old popcorn kernels that you get at the movie theater. I'm a tad bit disappointed at the unpopped kernels, it's like switching from microwave bag to stovetop did nothing. I may not buy this again, and I may advise people to do the same, but maybe in the future whenever this issue is corrected, I will try this again.

My nightly snack!

I have been buying this for years. I grew up with stove popped popcorn and it is my favorite. For those who are having issues with all kernels popping, it is one of two things, you either do not have enough oil, or you are not cooking at a high enough temperature for long enough. Every single time I pop this popcorn, every single kernel is cooked. No seeds left over ever- and this has been the case after going through several bottles of popcorn over several years.
