Steer CLEAR.... DO NOT BUY
Purchased unit 2 months ago. Have NEVER owned a robot vac. 1. It only has one sweeping leg. Now that I have seen others, I would recommend you get a unit with two sweeping legs (the small sweeping brush). 2. Of course, you have to remove the hair from the rollers, no big deal. However, the unit started to leave more lint and dust than it was picking up. I removed the roller, and I saw the unit is completely filled with lint and fibers despite doing a sepf cleaning each time I set it to clean. Like, it was FULL .. no accessible compartment on the unit to be able to remove this lint. I had to twist all my fingers as BEST as I could to remove the lint, which was a considerable built-up. That defeats the purpose of the self clean, which sounds like a turbo engine but does not work. I am extremely disappointed of the quality of this product and how it does not really empty the unit correctly. There are other small limitations on the app, which you can't send it to one room unless you stop the unit on its way back from a designated cleaning assignment and then restart it. But not too bad. You can't ask it to remap your home unless you delete the current map. I figured out there is a vacuum level (intensity) after trying to figure out what it keeps dumping all the dust. Settings could use a bit of user friendly set up.
Love it! Saves me so much time
The Dustin Robot sweeper from bObsweep has far exceeded my expectations. Especially for the price (it was heavily discounted), I really expected to return it. Wow, just wow! It was very easy to set up even for a nontech person such as myself. I have a fairly large house with a lot of carpeting and a nonshedding dog that sheds like crazy. I have scheduled the vacuum to do half of the house on Monday, Thursday and the other half of the house on Tuesday, Friday. The battery charge would be enough to do the entire house, but don't think any robot vacuum could hold that much dog hair at one time. I am always impressed by the job it does. One of my favorite parts, is it fits way underneath beds and some furniture (depending on the clearance) where my normal vacuum can only do the edges. This vacuum is a keeper. I highly recommend it.
Great value and works well
I bought this unit 2 months ago and am extremely happy with its performance. It's easy to program. I run it while I'm at work which has saved me so much time. I can now come home and relax and not have to worry about doing this chore. It's been a life saver.
Smart vacuum cleaner.
I love this smart machine so much, that I bought two of them one for upstairs and one for downstairs. Particularly I like the intelligent mapping the entire house. It scans every corner of the house more accurately than the original building plan of the house. Once it maps the entire house, it then intelligently sectioning each room and area individually. You can combine the rooms or areas using the App or leave them separate. There are two ways of operating. You can either select a specific room or area to vacuum or the entire house. The areas that cannot be vacuumed or you know that Dustin might get stuck in there, you can use the App to block the area that Dustin will avoid vacuuming. Most people I see who were having trouble with operating it properly, had to do with the proper use of the App. But once you’ve figured out the App, the rest really becomes automated. As long as you’re using the mapping correctly, Dustin is not going to vacuum the areas that might get stuck in there. The initial mapping by Dustin is to scan the house and memorize the plan of the house. But to block/obstruct the specific areas, has to be done manually and by the user. From the App select Map, then click on the scissors icon, then touch the area you want to block, then toggle the frame to a specific size to block the area you don’t want Dustin to vacuum. In reality it’s very east to use. Just play with the App, you’ll figure it out eventually. Highly recommended. Out of all other brands I had this one is the best of all of them. Some brands are using magnetic tape to block the specific area and some you have to setup physical sensor devices throughout the house to block the area. But Dustin uses the App to block the area you don’t want it to clean. Dustin is a companion you want to have him in your home.
Customer Service/Makes Life Easier
Should have bought a bObsweep a long time ago. So you don't read an essay, I'll get straight to it. - purchased our bObsweep Dustin online from Sam's Club and received the box in excellent condition - instructions were simple to understand, and set up was easy - only negative experience was when my bObsweep was finished with the 1st cleaning it continuously attempted to dock to the charging station with no success. After watching it do this for 30 minutes, I powered it off and contacted customer service via email. As my previous experience with most other companies customer service, I thought this would be a nightmare, and I would end up returning the vacuum. I was shockingly surprised! They answered my email 1st thing Monday morning and told me it sounded like a faulty dustbin. They sent me a new dustbin free of charge and told me I DID NOT have to send the old one back. When I received it in the mail, I installed the new dustbin and voila! It docked to the charging station with no issues. Not only did they fix the issue, but they also contacted me again to ensure the problem was fixed. This company DOES CARE about their customers. - cleans about 2,000 sq ft of hardwood floors and small rugs in 1hr and 40min. We have 3 dogs. 2 of which are a shepard and a malamute. It picks up every piece of hair. You have to see it to believe it. We run our bObsweep 2x a day so the hair doesn't get stuck in the dustbin. Otherwise, it won't empty on the docking station. Like I said it picks up every piece of hair. - As a husband that travels for his job, I bought this to help my wife save some time cleaning because she works as well. She went from vacuuming and swiffering every day to never touching either one except on our thick entrance mats on the weekend. This literally saves her about 6 hours a week. - I am a bObsweep customer for life. From the customer service department to the quality of the machine and cleaning ability, I couldn't have made a better decision when it comes to one of these vacuums. It was seriously worth every penny.
Great product!
Great robot vacuum! The mapping capabilities are the best, I have owned several robot vacuums in the past and none have ever come close to comparing to this Dustin Bobsweep robot. Self-emptying is a huge bonus. I have a Golden Retriever which sheds and sheds, then sheds more, this vacuum can handle her hair, like I said BEST robot vacuum ever! You can bet I will purchase another one of these vacuums when it wears out.
I love Dustin!
This is my second “robot” cleaner. The first one being several years ago. It died and went to vacuum heaven. I was concerned about getting this because I wasn’t sure what the setup was going to be like. So much easier than days of past! Love Dustin (now renamed Dusty!). He mapped our big living room and even “climbed” onto the rug to clean. I was amazed! He goes home to dump or to recharge 😂. I loved mine so much I told a friend and she bought one too!
Great for a daily sweep
This was a bit of an impulse buy when it was $400 off. I figured at $199 we could try it out and if it was terrible we could return it. Our dog passed in December so we no longer have a pet but we did still have dog hair hidden in places; it was hilarious when the robot went under a chest that was next to where Charlie's nighttime dog bed used to be - it came out pushing a big dog hair dust bunny in front of it. For reference, we have hardwood, oak, floor throughout, laminate in the laundry, and a couple rugs. Before we let this thing map itself, I grabbed the broom and went under most of the furniture to get the big stuff out but I left most of the floor untouched so we could see how well this thing vacuumed. I can't overstate how much I love this thing. While it isn't as powerful as an upright vacuum it has made keeping the floor dust/dirt free so much easier. It fits under most of our furniture, it doesn't fit under the couches but we had a good laugh watching it map when it found its way under a dresser, through the side, that we didn't even think about it going under. I have it scheduled to run every night for the main areas of the house (on low vacuum). Twice a week it gets the bedrooms, on high because of a couple rugs. The self-emptying is very nice; I have it vacuum at 1 am and we have never woken up to the emptying suction noise (one floor house, our bedroom shares a wall with the living room). We have used it as described for 4 weeks and the bag in the charging station isn't full yet. I have had to cut hair and leftover long rug threads out of the main roller and the side brush once a week (I did have to clean the main brush after it did the rug in our bedroom for the first time because of my long hair) and once from the front wheel. It does a pretty good job with obstacles and thresholds. Our coffee table, kitchen island, and the kitchen stool gets moved around a lot and it doesn't seem to have issues with that. I do make sure every night that our coffee table is far enough away from the couch for it to fit easily but that's it. It does not like shaggy rugs at all; the rug in our bedroom has some fringe and it's gotten stuck on it once but that's it. It goes over rugs and thresholds pretty well; I actually had to add a no sweep area for our tv stand because it climbed up the 3/4" bottom and tried to get to the wall. I just finished trying the mop feature. Personally, I can't see me using it very often but it worked pretty well. There is a variable water rate and I even filled the water jug up and then had it sweep the room before I let it mop. I did spray Pledge on floor and onto the pad. I wish it was a little easier to edit the map. You can't add a room later, for example we had it map the house and then went to add our bedroom to the floor layout and it had to remap the entire house. Also, editing the no sweep and no mop zones is a little clumsy. I can't get the box small enough for a welcome mat without having most of the box out of the room. Rugs don't show up on the map so it's a bit of a guess but since I don't plan on mopping with it much, that's not such a big deal. The next time this goes on sale, my husband and I are buying these for our parents. I definitely recommend this robot - at any price below $275ish... But, as my husband says, I'm a bit frugal so he may go higher! If this robot continues to work this well for a of couple years then I'd raise my no-go price point.
Dustin the Dust Slayer
Dustin has been a little workhorse. I have really enjoyed not having to empty the bin every day. We have 3 dogs and 2 cats so sweeping is an everyday experience that I do not miss. I have yet to mop with it as I really have not tried to figure how to do it. Great machine though.
We love Dustin
Dustin has been a great addition to our family. We have three kids so our floors are always dirty. Thanks to Dustin, we now have consisten clean floors. What I like the most is that Dustin is quiet, cleans well and his battery lasts a long time. Dustin has given us back more family time by taking the chore of sweeping and mopping. We love home!
