Good for occasional usage

This is the THIRD Duracell U1 I have had to replace in as many seasons. Battery lasts just beyond 6 month free replacement period (9-12 months) and voltage drops significantly and needs recharging. Has shown repeated failure to start at 1 yr since purchase date, despite higher (365CCA @32) CCA.

Good life cycle

Purchased battery late 2019 for use in my John Deere tractor. Only charged when tractor was in use, never placed on trickle charge to extend battery life, which I will do with the replacement battery. The original battery from the tractor manufacturer only lasted two years, the Duracell lasted four years before failing due to the cold weather and infrequent use of tractor. Very good battery for the money.

Needs consstant recharging

I bought mine 2/21 but only used my rider 6, 7 times summer of 2021, and same for 2022. Already deader than a doornail. Have had to recharge it about 6, 7 times. I can't recommend it, but who makes a good lawnmower battery, they all seem to be weak.

Long Life

I bought one new in April 2016 and only need to replace it this year, 7 years later. 7 years! I charged it a couple times during each winter, usually around end of Dec and again at end of Feb. I don't know why there are so many negative reviews. Maybe I just got a good one? My 2016 version was 275 CCA. Not sure what the CCA is on these now. I see the cheaper brands at other places are as little as 215 CCA for around same price as these at Sam's.

Briggs compression release failure

The failure of the Briggs & Stratton "compression release canshaft" is giving riding mower batteries a bad reputation. Your battery didn't fail, your Briggs compression release failed and the torque resistance required to start your engine overcame your battery. (It's a starter motor killer too)

A goog buy....

When I needed a new battery for yard tractor, since this was the first one that I had ever purchased, I spend some time checking out the local market. This particular battery was the best buy that I found. Good warranty--for a lawn tractor battery--good cold cranking hour rating and a very good price.

What happened to the quality? This was a 5 star.

I purchased a Duracell battery for my mower from Sam's Club about 3 to 4 years ago ant it was amazing! Started everytime, including the first mow of the season, until the end when I needed to jump it. (i could have bought a new one but since it was end of the season, I wanted to wait until the spring for a fresh one.) No question of which battery I was going to buy, Duracell was fantastic, right? Oh how wrong I was. I am on my way back to Sam's Club to exchange my battery FOR THE SECOND TIME SINCE APRIL!!! Problems? The first one had to be jumped for the first use, was OK for the second, then for the next month had to be jumped every time so it want back on my next Sam's run, The second battery started on the first mow (Yippee, it's a good one?) then for the next 2 months had to be jumped on every mow. I mow about every 1 to 1 1/2 weeks, the mower is garage kept and not exposed to extreme temperatures. I contacted Duracell and was told it wasn't their problem. Their mower batteries are sold/produced by East Penn (apparently name licensing). So another call, to East Penn, where I just got a "thank you for your input" that I would almost guarantee is going nowhere. Duracell, you need to wake up. Your name is on the battery and that is what consumers remember. I was buying a Duracell battery, NOT an East Penn battery. And I now know Duracell makes lousy batteries.

Long lasting for the money if you maintain it corr

If you use a battery maintainer the battery can last up to almost 7 years, the one I had before lasted 5.5 years, if not using a maintainer may last up to 2 years, maintainers cost $29-49 for a 3-4 amp charger, the higher cost ones desufficate the battery cells this is what kills the battery life, I load test and run the battery down once a year, running down the battery cycles the cells for excerize, I use a 12 volt drop light which draws 8 amps (100 watt), and time it out, then use a regular battery charger to bring it back to 100% before using the maintainer

They do last, if...

They have not been changed in the last 10 years, because its been that long and I need one this year. Now I know the charging system is working right. So many dont. AND I do put it on a maintainer charger if the mower is not going to be used for a spell like over winter. You can just stick a lead acid battery in something and forget about it.

Great batteries.

My John Deere's battery failed to crank my mower today. I hooked a jumper to the battery and it cranked right up. But I shut the mower off and connected my battery charger. It will not charge. The battery is a Duracell EU1L 365 CCA.I installed it in September of 2017. I will be at Sam's Monday morning to try and get another just like it. 7 years of starts! Can't ask for more than that.
