Seems like it will so the job!
I haven't used yet in power outage. So far the only negative is how to get maintenance cover off after srews are out. Directions don't tell you about fasteners you have to pry off.
It is doing its job
This little thing has been running for 24 hours straight, with a low idle running sump pump, net, tv, fan, and a light. No complaints. I wish it was larger wattage wise, but its working. I have had it for three years, used maybe two hours before now. Never changed oil or gas, started right up. On fifth tank of gas.
Hi there, Thank you for sharing your experience! We’re glad to hear your unit started right up and has been powering through your essentials without any issues—that’s exactly what it’s built to do. For continued performance and longevity, we do recommend following the maintenance schedule outlined in the manual, including regular oil changes and fresh fuel. We appreciate you choosing A-iPower! ~A-iPower Customer Support Team
Much better product than Westinghouse
have 20+ hours on it already - very happy with the product so far
Great product Good value Just needs more outlets
I received product reimbursement in exchange for my honest review. I bought the A-iPower Gas Inverter Generator for $399.98. This generator is much smaller than the one I have for large appliances and other items in my home; however, it's nice to have because it's easily portable. You can use it while camping, tailgating, using electric tools, or just when you need portable electricity that's far away from an outdoor receptacle. It's lightweight at 47.4 lbs and portable with wheels and a telescoping handle to move it around easily. I like that it has both a normal 120v/20a and 120v/30a connections; however, I do wish it had an adapter that combines both outlets to make three regular three prong outlets. I like that it has a built in LED light and LED backlit display so you can see when it's dark. Being able to see the total volts, frequency, run time, and fuel gauge in a few clicks is very convenient as well. It should run up to 9hours @25% load. When running even with a constant load, it's pretty quiet. It also has a CO sensor making it safer than other ones because it will automatically turn off if it senses the CO2 levels are too high. It's easy to start with a pull cord and turn off with the turn of a dual. It's nice that there's multiple tools and items provided that are necessary for the initial setup with the exception of gasoline. The fuel breather cap is easily readable and it's a nice feature to prevent unwanted gasoline odors while the unit isn't in use. A feature I would like to see in a generator of this size and price would be a propane fuel source connector so you're not always reliant on gasoline. I also like that it comes with a three year manufacture warranty.
Do not recommend
I would not recommend this product. I purchased for emergency use. I did not need it for a year but when my power went out I started it and it will not idle properly. Surges at low and no load. I contacted the manufacturer for input and they have refused to help in any way. I only have 12 hours on this unit. I also contacted Sam's and after 4 days have not heard back. Poor customer service for both.
Unti arrived covered in oil, no support
Purchased on Sam's Club and unit had oil leaking from somewhere and not from the bottle. The unit was completely new and everything was still sealed, no oil ever in the funnel and no gas in the unit. So not sure if they put a little oil in the unit at the factory, but I can tell you this is not due to Sam's Club. Reached out to support since everything says to call them and do not return the unit. Called support, left a voicemail. Next day submitted support form online... nothing. day 3-6, daily emails to support@ai-power.com... crickets. This is probably a simple support request, can't imagine if you had a real issue with it... There is no way you are taking that many support calls and if you are that is a red flag problem itself. You have my contact info, reach out to me, do not put your contact info in response to this review asking me to reach out! This review is for the product and company AI-Power, not towards Sam's Club at all, their support got back to me super-fast and were helpful.

Worked great
Used once for my daughter’s softball game. I hooked up a torpedo heater for the dugout to help warm up the team during a cold spring game. They loved it and the generator worked great! The generator worked flawlessly and was unfazed when the torpedo heater fired up.
Good Generator
I have a 6kw generator but I wanted a small generator that I could quickly deploy. I can carry it one handed. It starts with a very easy pull. I added a single transfer switch to my boiler so I can have this providing heat in minutes. I tested and it can run a 10k btu window ac, a refrigerator or a compact microwave. I did not try everything at once, I have the big generator for that. It won't run a full size microwave, they use more juice than a fridge or a small window ac. It runs fairly quiet too. For the price, I'm very happy with this. Things I wonder about... Will it last? Will parts be available in a few years? For 1/3 the price of the famous red generator, I guess I can consider this 'done' if it lasts 5 years. The oil did look fresh after the 5 hour break in. Things I dislike... To check the oil, you have to remove 4 screws and unsnap the side. Not terrible but nobody is going to do that every time they use the generator. Unsnapping the plastic side could be risky in very cold weather. It has usb ports but a 12v car plug would be more versatile. There is only one standard outlet. The low idle switch is a soft touch button, not a flip switch. You need to remember to turn it off every time if you will be running bigger motors. It's awkward changing the oil. You must remove the side panel and tip the generator to it's side and pour the oil out the fill hole. The included flexible screw-in funnel makes this do-able but you will need to set the generator on the edge of a bench to collect the oil. Pro tip... Before using the included oil, mark the oil level on the side of the bottle. Refill with fresh oil for the next change. Dump it all right in after draining the oil while the funnel is still connected. The level will be perfect.
Awesome Generator
This little gem powered my home for more than a week after hurricane Ian. It will run for 6 to 8 hours on a tank of gas and is quiet. I ran it 24/7 only stopping once to change the oil. Ran fans and the refrigerator during the day and lights and a window ac at night. The engine is made by Yamaha (mine, at least) . I’m buying another to link them together. You won’t regret this purchase.
I loved the generator at first. The first one I bought was a little different and did not have the CO sensor. And it has always ran great then, I bought this model and after 8 hours. The co sensor went off while we were boondocking., and it would not go off unless of a service tech fixes it. Problem was it was in the outside not in an enclosed area. If you can get rid of the CO sensor it would be great.
Hi Sandra, thank you for your feedback—we’re glad to hear you’ve had a good experience with your previous unit. The CO sensor is an important safety feature designed to shut the generator down if elevated carbon monoxide levels are detected, even in outdoor environments depending on conditions like wind or placement. If the sensor is continuing to shut the unit down unexpectedly, we recommend having the unit inspected by a service technician so we can determine the cause and get you back up and running.
