Backyard Discovery must have made improvements to the QA of this product because mine fit together perfectly! The most time consuming part was re-staining it to fit the look I was going for, but it was well worth it. I was able to set it up over the course of an afternoon and couldn't be happier with the end result. At this price point and the ease of setup, I wouldn't recommend any other pergola.

I used the optional assembly service and that was frustrating. They went thru several people trying to get it assembled, finally on try #6 we got it done but I wasted a lot of time from work going home just to have nobody show up. It's large and bulky to assemble so trying to do it by myself wasn't really an option. But overall the pergola itself is great. Only complaint is it feels short to me, I wish it was a foot taller

We purchased this in June. We had to wait to install once the concrete patio was completed. It took about 6 hours to install completely and we were completely impressed with the construction. All of the components necessary were included. It turned out to be much stronger than I expected. Originally I was going to build one from scratch but after pricing Cedar components and figuring out all of the hardware required we decided to order from you. So glad we did.

We absolutely love our pergola. We bought ours last year and it arrived on time right at our doorstep. It only took 2 people to assemble and only a couple hours from start to finish. It is the best feature in our backyard and we get so many compliments on it! We made a retractable canopy for it using wire, wood, and a drop cloth and makes the perfect shade on a sunny day. We even added solar globe lights to give it the perfect night glow. Even after one whole winter it still looks like new!

Pergola shipped and arrived within a week of ordering. Discovered a joist missing during assembly. Called customer service and they had a replacement on it's way in two days. Assembly was fairly straightforward but I recommend taking inventory of your parts, having a drill to fine tune pilot holes, and run all the nuts down the bolts prior to assembly. The coating tends to muck the threads up, making them useless. There were extras, but not many. I also ordered some stain as there are alot of touch-ups needed from shipping and assembly. Instructions were ok but take some time to understand so you avoid having to undo steps. It went together more or less as advertised. Added lights and it looks fantastic! .l

I am a 50 year old woman and I was able to put this up myself. I had my 20 year old daughter help me with lifting the assembled pieces to the top of the pergola while I attached them. All the parts were included and I had no problems with hardware or alignment. It was very easy to assemble because I planned ahead, had the right tools and patience. I assembled it in 8 hours on day 1, I anchored it to the concrete on day 2.

Our home is always changing--inside & out; & every change creates a new "pop":. This time we added a room!! It all started after switching out the last section of old board decking to brick, matching the rest of the existing bricked deck--improving both the look & function of our yard. But, looking out at the expanse of this all brick deck, even with colorful furniture & our usual riot of plants, something was missing. Somehow, we needed to frame that section, a place where we entertain and also shelter a lot of plants. (I'm a gardener). It's Florida; summer sun is merciless on human skin and, more importantly, all of our plants shriveling in our summer heat; they can't hop up and escape into the AC. What we needed was a pretty shelter from direct sun; we needed a pergola! And this baby is a champ. Ordering was easy, the perfect size for our spot, delivery on time; my husband Bill added 2 applications of weather coating, we hired the brick guys to assemble it (we are old :-)). And now we have more than a pergola; it is a ROOM-- partly nestled under our old magnolia, decorated by our happy shaded plants, and furnished by our colorful furniture (I am a painter), the pergola frames it all and creates the perfect space whose form is lovely and which functions to give us what we needed: a solid, sturdy, shade-providing structure. We already have subprojects planned: our copper pelican perches on the top corner; to add even more shade, we are installing lattice panels over the widely spaced roof slats, and we are adding electric outlets for some good old Florida fans, also hanging solar lights to line the top structure. Kit is well thought out. The wood is not so good. I have had some punkie spots in the legs and there is signs of cracking now starting to show up after one winter season here in Michigan. Over all its ok but I don't know how long it will last. To bad the wood is not from North America.
