Lasted a year with absolutely no customer service

Purchased this recliner from Sams about a year ago. I liked the chair until today when the power to the backrest/footrest/led light cupholder had no power. The unit had power to the in arm outlets but the lifts are dead. Tried to contact Life Styles/Serta. Good luck. Horrible service. Two hang ups and I am stuck with a $500.00 worthless chair now. Avoid this operation unless you plan on throwing good money away.

NOT GOOD

We bought this recliner online and delivery was perfect then the trouble started. The chairs motor quit working only two days of very limited use. It got stuck in the reclined position I had to bang on the motor the get the chair to return to non-reclined position. I then tried it again and it would not do anything unless I hit the footrest with my foot. Getting it returned was quite an ordeal Sams wanted us to return it to our nearest store which I declined how would I get it there with no truck. Next they sent Fedex to pick it up but sent Fedex to the wrong address. After calling again Sams finally got it picked up a few days later and we received a full refund. Do not buy this chair it does not last and returning it is a hassle.

How to fix some of the problems with this chair.

Bought this about 20 months ago. Had problem with the arm lids not lining up with the arms. Fixed that with a 3d printed piece that I attached to the in side of the lids so when closed they keep the lid in place. Also when you are moving the foot rest up or down there was a loud noise from the “Leather” rubbing on each other. Fixed that by putting a very small amount of Vaseline on the contact areas. The biggest problem is that the USB charging ports have all quit working along with the lights around the cup holders. Emailed customer service about this and they are clueless about any fix for this problem. I did plug my own USB charger into the provided AC outlet inside the arm so I can still charge things while using the chair.

Don't waste your money!

I assembled my chair and immediately noticed that the hinges on the arm rests were both sprung and did not lineup with the armrests leaving a gap down into the storage area. As time went on these gaps became worse. Now a tiny screw fell out causing the arm rest to flip open immediately after removing my arm. Screw is not in the storage space so it cannot be replaced. Less than a year and i eant to put it in a dumpster.

Falling apart!!

Purchased this chair 11/2021. It is a huge disappointment, for certain. Within a month of purchase, the electronic hydraulics started squeaking when reclining and raising the leg rest. Figured I could live with that…however, I am now dealing with the hinged armrest covers coming off, the seat sinking and sagging, and the finish peeling off the exterior. It's been less than 5 months, and I am very disappointed. Lesson learned.

Verified Purchase

Design flaw

Purchased 2 brown Serta home theater power recliners. Both have same issue. The brackets that attach the back to the seat are in wrong place. The back sits too far to the right. So, there is a gap on the left. And the right side is tight. The right side rubs when you open the recliners.

Terrible construction

Own less then four months and o my used by my husband. For weeks now there has been a popping and cracking noise and then last night it made a big crack and the back fell completely backwards. Upon inspection the wood connecting the back to metals arms has completely splintered and broken on both sides. Don't waste your money! Also will not allow me to upload a photo.

Smells bad

Nice chair but the fumes are unbearable and instead of disapating, are only getting worse. I can't bear to sit in it. The smell gets on my clothes as well and makes me nauseaus.. It is going back as soon as I can hire someone to take it back downstairs.

not worth the money

This chair is defiantly NOT worth the money. Yes it went together well but it is very slow and loud. The sound it makes EVERY time it goes up or down is horrible. And no it didn't go away with use. If I could afford to get rid of these sums get other I would in a heart beat. We have had these for about 6 month and it isn't any better then when we got them. We even put Liberians on the sides to no avail.

Don't waste your time and money

I wanted to try this particular power recliner because I trusted (past tense) the same Serta, and the price was right. When it arrived, I was initially pleased with the fit, finish, and function. However, after only a few days, while leaning back, I heard a pop. Then, a couple of days later, the back just fell off of the base with me along with it. For the consumer: Don't buy. The company has decided to use cheap plywood for components that should have been metal, namely the mounts that hold the female rails that allow connection to - and disconnection from - the male rails on the base, which are both made of metal. For Serta: Very poor design. If you wanted to save money, eliminate the gas springs from the arm rests, and use that to buy metal to reinforce the plywood "legs," as we shall call them, which are glued and stapled to the rest of the top-half framework. Many staples pierced the edge below the gusset, and the nuts used to mount the rails to the legs seem to have been overtightened and contributed to the failure. Both of these issues as well as both fissures all lied in the same plane, which would be parallel to the floor if the seat were in a completely vertical position. (I am less than 200lb)
