NOT Chili Powder: It's Essentially Taco Seasoning

Member's Mark is NOT Tone's nor McCormick. As a SamsClub Member since 1988, I rely on SamsClub to stock my pantry at a reasonable cost. Not any longer! Of all the Member's Mark substitutions, the Chili Powder is the worst! It's NOT Chili Powder. It's essentially taco seasoning, which has its place in the pantry, but is non-essential if its ingredients are already stocked. The cost of making chili has increased significantly, inconveniently having to purchase another brand from another store, at a higher price for smaller quantity. If I could give this 0-stars, I would, because the product is not what the label states.

Not just chili powder

Confused when my recipe didn't turn out the way I expected. Silly me, didn't think to check the ingredients of "plain chili powder". It has other spices in it that give it a very different flavor than real plain chili powder. Very disappointed that it's not called "chili powder spice mixture" or something. Just be aware that it's actually what you want before purchasing!

Horrible!

I bought this thinking it was the McCormick brand that they used to have and totally ruined a huge pot of chili. It must be over 50% cumin as that is all you taste and very little chili pepper flavor at all. Like lots of other products Sams used to have, they are replacing good name-brand items with store-brand, which is no where near as good of quality or tasting.

no complaints from my chili recipients

I have been using this seasoning in place of envelopes for years. 3 TBS. equal 1 envelope. 1 envelope for $1 or a full bottle for the same cost as 6 - 8 envelopes. if the powder does not have a strong chili taste simply add more powder.

Doesn't contain Silicon Dioxide

I have used Tone's chili powder for years. It is a very good product and it gives my chili a good flavor. I recently had to by a small bottle of another brand and I had to use more of that chili powder and I still didn't have the same flavor. Also, Tone's doesn't add Silicon Dioxide to make their chili powder free flowing. I am extremely happy about that.

Members Mark Chili Powder

Bought MM Chili Powder, did not like flavor.....really the lack of flavor! Very surprised in the product since it is the first MM product that I tried and have not liked. Tones Chili Powder so much more flavorful and you can use less of it and the taste is much more powerful. PLEASE bring back Tone’s Chili Powder.

Great Chili Powder

For those who say too many other ingredients, that's what chili powder is, ~ a mixture of chili, spices, and other seasonigs. I use this to mix with pure ground chilis to make my own blend for homemade beef or pork chili. This has an excellent flavor, so I don't need to use as much cumin and mexican oregano. Love this!

Mostly salt

This chili powder is extremely disappointing. I bought it a couple of weeks ago thinking I was buying Tone's and added it to a dish that evening. It was inedible due to the saltiness. I just used a half teaspoon in a dish this evening and didn't need to add any more salt. Please

Tastes Terrible and Has Preservatives

The new Member's Mark Chili Powder not only taste terrible, but also contains a preservative Ethoxyquin, and an anti caking powder Silicone Dioxide. The prior version of Member's Mark Tone's Chili Powder contained Chili Pepper and Other Spices, Salt, and Garlic Powder. The Tone's version tastes much better without the artificial ingredients. We do not recommend this chili powder.
