iGen 2500

Brought it home from the store, took it out of the box, added the included oil and my own gas, and inverter started on first pull. Eco mode appears to work well - i connected an electric space heater and cycled between off, high, and low heat settings and inverter rpms and output ramped up/down accordingly. I like the LED display showing connected power load. I wish it also showed total engine hours - would be helpful for maintenance.

Put gas in it and started on First pull ~ ~ ~

I had an older Coleman 4000, it worked fine but it was Just too Loud.. I like this Quiet one and my Wife can start it easy also. Nice easy to pull recoil. Cool Camouflage look. Plenty of power for Camping and Power outages. I Saved money over the Honda I was going to get. Love it ...

Quiet, economical and plenty of power

Bought this unit to supply power for a hunting cabin. It ran all the indoor and outdoor lights, plus tv, coffee pot etc. We ran it every night for 6 to 8 hours for a month. It started on the first pull every time and the gas tank rarely got below 1/4 tank each day. I would highly recommend this unit.

Good initial impression

Well thought out packaging.Oil, oil funnel and basic tools included. Started on first pull. Initial test run easily powered freezer, shop light and a dehumidifier in the basement (which I consider an energy hog comparable to an A/C window unit. Also quiet enough that it didn't even bother the dogs which tend to be skittish around machinery and loud noises.

Quiet Generator

I purchased a Westinghouse iGen2500 from Sam’s Club. It arrived within a few days and I tested it. The directions were easy to follow in the user guide. I filled the crankcase with the provided oil and funnel. The funnel screwed into to fill/drain plug hole with no mess to fill. The oil is premeasured with the exact amount required. I replaced the dip stick plug and pulled the recoil handle a couple of times to lubricate the piston. I checked the oil with the dipstick and it was full to the exact mark. I put gas in the tank, only enough to test generator, turned the fuel switch to choke, and started the engine. It only took a couple of pulls on the recoil handle and it started. I turned the fuel switch to run and ran as it should. The engine was a little rough when it first started and smoothed out after a couple of minutes. I shut it down, restarted, and it ran very smoothly. To test its capability, I connected a 1200-watt space heater to a power monitor and then plugged it into the generator. There was no hesitation on the engine when I turned the heater on. The Data Display showed the correct wattage and so did my power monitor. Before I turned on the heater, the frequency showed 59.9 Hz on my power monitor and 60 Hz when I turned on the heater, all within tolerance. I let it run for about 5 minutes without a glitch. Very satisfied with this lightweight generator!

Solid inverter generator

I bought this igen2500 inverter generator in case of a power outage. Opened the box, read the instructions and it's pretty straight forward. Added the included oil although there might have been a little too much in the oil bottle as the dip stick indicated is was over the high mark. Im not that familiar with engines so after I set the dial to choke, the generator sputtered a little and didnt know when to turn the dial to run. Eventually, I did turn it to run and the engine started. I ran it for an hour to break it in and changed/replaced the oil. Had to buy more oil of course. The dirty oil was kinda dark looking so I recommend people changing the oil relatively early. And I highly recommend a magnetic dipstick. Then I ran it again but this time I plugged 2 refrigerators and a couple of chargers and it handled it no problem! Didnt look at the output but I suspect it can handle even more than that. It's somewhat heavy loaded with gas so not sure if the wife can easily move it around. Noise was ok if you are right next to it and eco made it even quieter but its not bad from a distance as I think itll be ok to run it overnight. Digital readout is great in telling you how much time you have left running. So far it looks pretty reliable and I cant say about its longevity just yet but this seems like its gonna be a solid generator.

Great product

I bought this 5 months ago to be prepared for hurricane season. Instead I needed it for winter storms. I love this generator. It put out enough power to keep my refrigerator and my freezer going(I didn't run them at the same time.). The main thing I love about it is that it is so easy to start. I was worried about the pull start as I am in my 70's and not as strong as I once was. It proved to be no problem as it started easily for me. I just wish I could have gotten a lawn mower that was this easy to start.

Quiet, great value and features

I just received the generator and everything needed was included in the package, including oil. It fired up on the second pull and ran smoothly. After the initial startup, it fired up on the first pull every time even after cooling down. It is incredibly quiet, especially on eco mode. The digital readout is especially handy to see how much runtime is left at current power draw. This runs my slide-in camper with plenty of power to spare.

A lot of features for the price.

I just got the unit yesterday. Tested with the loads (drills, grinders, saws and a portable cooler) that I expect to use it for. It is very quiet. More features than I expected for the price. I plan on using the unit if I have a power outage for refrigerators and freezer ( not all at one time). I like the display for the run time that is left with different loads and the fuel level display. For a recreational generator there should be 12 volt battery charger terminals. If there were, I would have rated it with 5 stars.

Compact and Quiet

This brand and model was selected because it has slightly lower weight and sound levels and higher running and peak watts than comparable generators. Additionally, I like the LED readout for fuel level, power output, and remaining run time that were not available on other brands. After filling the oil and adding gas, it cranked on the third pull and had no problem handling the test loads that I have put on it. It is quiet and easily moved around. I have not it run it much up to now as it is intended to power our household appliances during the occasional blackouts that we have, but the three year warranty gives me confidence it will deliver when needed. Only one minor issue - the small sliding door on top tends to work loose due to the running vibrations. This has caused no operational problems and I will devise a way to lock it in place.
