Easy to Start and Informative
As someone who bought the the iGen2200 in May 2017 and was satisfied with its performance to date, I expected great things from this set. It met my expectations and then some. Easy to start and a great interface telling me how much run time is left, fuel consumption and load %. Really good addition to my power generation group. Excellent timber finish too
Great features
When I first got it, I put in the oil and gas and after a few pulls it started right up. Since then, it starts within three pulls every time. Easy to start and I love the information on the LED screen regarding fuel, run time, output capacity, and overload protection. Easy to use and understand. Nice and quiet too.
iGen2500
I bought this generator a year ago . We live in an area where there are often power outages. When I received the unit, I put in some gas, added oil and started the unit. . I then put it in my shed for the next power outage. That was yesterday 8/25/2022, about a year after I purchased it. I tried starting it for about a half an hour in the rain. I then let it sit for 20 minutes and tried again. finally thinking maybe it was flooded i went to take out the spark plug and noticed that the spark plug was split down the middle and the spark plug wire that attached to the plug was cracked. Needless to say we had no power for the nite. Now ask me how I like the product

Quiet Generator
I purchased a Westinghouse iGen2500 from Sam’s Club. It arrived within a few days and I tested it. The directions were easy to follow in the user guide. I filled the crankcase with the provided oil and funnel. The funnel screwed into to fill/drain plug hole with no mess to fill. The oil is premeasured with the exact amount required. I replaced the dip stick plug and pulled the recoil handle a couple of times to lubricate the piston. I checked the oil with the dipstick and it was full to the exact mark. I put gas in the tank, only enough to test generator, turned the fuel switch to choke, and started the engine. It only took a couple of pulls on the recoil handle and it started. I turned the fuel switch to run and ran as it should. The engine was a little rough when it first started and smoothed out after a couple of minutes. I shut it down, restarted, and it ran very smoothly. To test its capability, I connected a 1200-watt space heater to a power monitor and then plugged it into the generator. There was no hesitation on the engine when I turned the heater on. The Data Display showed the correct wattage and so did my power monitor. Before I turned on the heater, the frequency showed 59.9 Hz on my power monitor and 60 Hz when I turned on the heater, all within tolerance. I let it run for about 5 minutes without a glitch. Very satisfied with this lightweight generator!
Easy start, all the features
Bought this a couple months ago. Have used it for volunteer work repainting fire hydrants. Runs the power tools and a small air compressor with no problems. Ran it in parallel with my iGen2200 during break-in, but it handles the load by itself now with no problem. Quiet, even when not in Eco mode. Really handy during temporary power outages,
SMALL, POWERFUL, QUIET, EFFICIENT....
This iGEN2500 unit replaces a Cart Gen that gov't paid for, from the 2005 hurricane season which served well over the years, but, the five gallon per 12 hour gas consumption was the reason for my igen2500 purchase. And, as having limited strength after back surgery, the Cart Gen's several hundred pounds weight made for a difficult time in setting up backup power. Since I only needed to sustain the two major appliances that are mandatory during a hurricane induced power outage or other, the fridge and a window AC unit, this Westinghouse unit is PERFECT.... I did some start/run current measurement testing for the fridge and AC with a "peak/hold" clamp on current meter and verified my intended load(s) would work well with the 2500. The fridge start current measured ~ 6.8 amps, with only ~1 amp running. The Window AC, (LG LW6017R) - 6000 BTU unit measured ~ 13 amps starting with an average 3.3 amps running. These measurements were made running on the iGEN2500 power to ensure the start currents were OK. The 2500 has the reserve power to start my Window AC with only the monetary "kick on surge" to get up to speed. With these two loads, (and a handful of LED lights), I am expecting the ten hours per tank/gallon of gas as this load is measured at about the 25% load rating. So, if you are in need of CLEAN sine wave power during a power outage this iGEN2500 is just the ticket.... It is recommended that you use the supplied oil - for break in and being a "bit" an-l, I changed the oil after only a 15-20 minute warm-up just to give a clean flush before the break in.and refilled with a regular oil during break in Be certain to let the gen warm up at least 5 to 10 minutes if possible to prevent a "hard-ON load" when first started - just common sense.... After several break in oil changes with VARYING LOADS, hitting 1.97 KW output without any problem for a 5-10 minute run. (Always cool the gen running with NO load for ~ 10 minutes before shutdown). I am now running Valvoline Full Synthetic High Mileage 10W-30 oil with supposedly the extra additives that provide the best protection. Again, oil is cheap, even full synthetic, so change it often. P.S. Do NOT buy/use any "synthetic blend" as these are rip-offs often containing less than 10% synthetic oil but at darn near the price of full. Buy FULL SYNTHETIC only. AND, do not be cheap, use ONLY E-0 Ethanol FREE gas for this and ANY gas powered gear you may have. Lastly, use a gas stabilizer in the fuel also. I keep my generator tank near full for storage as I am a believer to keep the seals and gaskets "wet" so as to not dry out and very probably leak when filled with gas. NOT a ding on Westinghouse, it is just a practice I perform and I know that my IGEN2500 is ready to fire, with only one pull - every time.
Reasonably priced, quiet,
I bought this for a camping trip to the Smokies where I will not have power. It meets the requirements of the National Park Service regarding noise and is light enough for me to move by myself. I like the fact I can hook two of them together and have enough power to run the A/C in my trailer. It only took me about 10 minutes to get it out of the box and running.
Yikes!
New in box. 9/19/2017 made 1st oil and fuel fill. Noticed residual of oil on stick before any fill. Is that normal? Attempted 1st startup same day, 9/19/2017. After several pulls, gasoline ran out of unit and all over driveway. Float bowl drain screw was open (per advice from online chat). Instructions do not ever mention to check the float bowl drain screw before startup. It is only opened to drain the gas. Closed screw, aired out generator with fans for several hours as well as cleaned driveway. Unfortunately, wife came out at this time and you can only imagine her concern. The entire back of the house smelled like gasoline. She was now calling the city recycling to see if they would promptly haul the generator away as I am at the same time trying to reach Westinghouse tech support. Next startup is now successful, however still makes some odd deep puff sounds during idling? Is this normal? Ran with no load for 30 minutes. Added about 330 watts for over an hour, then added and ran a small 5,000 btu a/c for over an hour. Slowly removed loads and let gen idle for 5-10 minutes. Still noticed deep puff sounds during the idling. Final step, turned gen dial to off, but unit would not turn off. Finally turned dial to choke and system sputtered off. I think I need a replacement and it must be guaranteed new. I have too much concern and suspicion about this unit.
Great Little Generator
I did a lot of investigation before I purchased this generator. It really paid off. I use it every time I go to Canada fishing, several times a year. It runs flawlessly. I am amazed how long it will run on a tank of gas even under a load. Plenty of power and quite portable. I really like the gauges, very helpful. So much I won't buy another generator without them. In fact I purchased a iGen4500 which I use to power my travel trailer. I highly recommend this product line.
3 Stars so far
Item was well packaged and delivered in a timely manner. All looks ok with unit. Filled with oil and ran very little. So far seems to be well designed, light weight, compact and user friendly. I will make update after more use; however, with very limited use - so far so good. I was looking for a cover but guess I have to settle for the cord.
