- 5 out of 5 stars review7/20/2021I bought this to replace a Yamaha ef2400. The Yamaha had been almost flawless for 15 years, but we had to be very careful to not overload it with other appliances when the 11,000btu AC unit was running. This unit is the iGen4500 with 3500W rated capacity. I’ve run it about 3 hours with an electric heater for load to cover the specified <50% load break in. It started an ran well. The noise level seems to be comparable to the Yamaha. I think the next 30 hours are not supposed to exceed 75% load. We’ll complete that on our next outing near the end of August 2021. That will also be the first opportunity to run the AC. I’ll update this if possible after that trip.
Great so far!
Mike3817Originally posted onwestinghouse.com - 5 out of 5 stars review8/5/2018I did a fair amount of research before making my decision to purchase the Westinhouse IGEN4500. My only issue is with the automatic choke sticking from the initial shipping process, however it is an easy fix. This little powerhouse is super quiet. I could her my friends generator from across our camp over the Westinghouse generator. It delivered all the power we asked of it. I look forward to many years of service.
Super Quiet Power House
Jim TeaOriginally posted onwestinghouse.com - 5 out of 5 stars review1/3/2024My wife purchased the Westinghouse iGen4500 for me as a Christmas gift. I found the manual to be very comprehensive regarding setting up, operating, and maintaining the generator. The engineering and design of the generator are impressive. Access to critical maintenance areas is easy and convenient. The push button electric start and remote start features are game changers. This unit is replacing two Yamaha 1600 watt generators we use for RV camping. Although the wet weight of the iGen4500 is over 100lbs, its roller-board style wheel system makes it easy to move the generator on the ground. With moderate effort, my wife and I together can lift the generator in and out of the bed of my truck. I would recommend this generator for those tha...
iGen4500 - Great Product!
Idaho7Originally posted onwestinghouse.com - 4 out of 5 stars review9/19/2018Using it for my camper for occasional boondocking as well as for occasional work where no power is available or during power outages at home. So far runs my 15K BTU A/C with no problem at 50% load, noise is about what I expected. Only had it for a day but it will be used heavily this coming weekend at a NASCAR race. The fit and finish of the plastic panels does not seem to be very good but that is minor as long as there are no other issues.
Good so far
ChiefOriginally posted onwestinghouse.com - 5 out of 5 stars review5/13/2022I purchased this unit in January of 2022. It came with everything, but fuel. (Which is to be expected) There are soo many awesome features on this generator. Set up was a breeze and you can tell it’s a quality product from the start. Instructions were spot on and easy to use. The power output for this portable generator is also excellent. All of the indicators are in plain view and easy to understand.
Excellent Generator
C. AlvaradoOriginally posted onwestinghouse.com - 5 out of 5 stars review8/23/2024I bought this unit 2 month ago, and very pleased with the performance. Remote starter was must to have for me, it works great. The unit won't start without enough oil; this was the only issue I had: it's hard to figure out how much oil went in and its level. Other than that - it's a great product.
Nicely built generator, great features.
Alex M.Originally posted onwestinghouse.com - 5 out of 5 stars review6/12/2018The wife and I just bought our first a new Travel Trailer. Graduated from a Tent Trailer. We needed a Generator that would not only meet the power needs of our trailer, but would be allowed within the National Parks. This Generator meets those needs as well as it's 1/3 the price of similar competitive models. I won't mention names but the initials are H and Y.... Right out of the box, I filled the oil, gas and connected the battery, started up on first pull, and the electric stat with remote. I am very please and would recommend Westinghouse's iGen line to all future Campers.
Excellent Unit
Freddiekat812Originally posted onwestinghouse.com - 5 out of 5 stars review7/6/2023I was a big fan of the Westinghouse 2500 generator. When it came time to get a bigger one to run more things in our new fish house I looked at the igen 4500. It’s super quiet! The remote start feature is awesome. Can’t wait to get some hours in this one.
Great generator
MnilesOriginally posted onwestinghouse.com - 5 out of 5 stars review11/10/2018Have had this gen since 06-15-18 have taken it on several camping trips with my fifth wheel and absolutely no issues at all. Purchased a cargo carrier and matching bag to protect the gen while on the road and LOVE IT! Also would recommend a gen tent for protection in inclement weather. Have had it to Yellow Stone and my mountain property in Montana (where the wind can be quite high) and no issues whatsoever. Highly recommend to follow the break in directions, used the oil provided for initial break in then I use full synthetic. My RV dealer was very impressed took many pictures and couldn't believe the sound level (or the lack of) he now has one on display. Couldn't be happier!
Awesome!
harm0040Originally posted onwestinghouse.com - 3 out of 5 stars review3/14/2021Great little machine, quiet, easy start, nice design. However, it doesn't have the power to engage my switch switch box on my RV. I'm getting power to all the plugs and ran a drill to test. I can hook my RV to my other generator and it switches on with no problem, and this generator is only rated at 3700 watts. So I am not sure what the problem is. I will be calling to address.
Slight diappointment
JJamesOriginally posted onwestinghouse.com - 5 out of 5 stars review1/16/2022I did some research and decided on the Westinghouse IGEN4500. It's a great size for our needs to go camping and/or as home back up for power outages. I ordered it online and it arrived packaged well and started on the first try. So far I've only ran the break in 5 hour period and a mock run for a power outage. Performance was excellent! Thanks Westinghouse, Larry
Great value and peace of mind!
Larry222Originally posted onwestinghouse.com - 4 out of 5 stars review3/9/2021This little guy checked all the right boxes for purchase!! Quieter than most other gens out there, easily portable, CARB compliant, competitive price compared to similar brands/makes, solid/sleek chassis, power supply that fit our needs, electric/key fob/manual start options, an "eco" mode that gas-saves when applicable, and easily readable data/outlet/breaker/switch panel on front. Awesome features! I only have one critique for design which is the oil fill/drain plug and tank. (Which is why its "Good" and not "Excellent" rating.) 1) it is not easy to visually inspect oil level. The picture in the manual gives a perspective view of proper level, but that isn't very easy to evaluate in "real life". The dipstick is small and oil-cap...
Great Features and One Critique
KhillaOriginally posted onwestinghouse.com - 5 out of 5 stars review9/12/2023I mounted this on my 30 ft Travel trailer rear bumper and ran a wire to my power center. I've got over 400 hours on it with no problems or issues. I love the remote start. Great to have electricity on demand. I my opinion it is not noisy but having it on the trailer it is more audible for us inside than for others outdoors. I would buy it again and glad I did too.
Very Satisfied
JerryWOriginally posted onwestinghouse.com - 4 out of 5 stars review9/24/2020So far so good, just recieved a couple days ago and everyrthing seems to be working fine. Had a small concern initially when trying to turn off the generator the push button and the remote would not shut it down. Had to turn the battery switch off. But after having to leave and come back and before calling customer support, gave it another try and both the push button and remote worked. So all is good as of now. Can't wait for the wife to use it on her next horse back riding trip.
compact and easily movable
philj4Originally posted onwestinghouse.com - 4 out of 5 stars review8/2/2021Purchased this a few months ago and used for the first time a few weeks ago on a week long camping trip. Was impressed with how quiet it actually runs and fuel consumption was very efficient. Had some trouble with the key fob and push start every time after refueling but not a total deal breaker for I just used the pull start. Overall a worthwhile purchase!
Very Quiet operation
Matt79Originally posted onwestinghouse.com - 5 out of 5 stars review9/28/2021I bought this generator for our RV after having run out of battery power twice while boondocking. We're new to the RV life so had a steep learning curve. Did my research online, reading reviews and searching "Best of 2021..." websites and saw that this was one of the quietest units going. It came in perfect condition and, after unpacking, added oil and fuel and it started right up. Love the power and remote start and the digital displays showing running conditions. Plugged my RV into it and ran everything I needed. It's quiet and runs very smoothly. Very happy with my purchase and would recommend it to others.
First Generator
Doug2104SOriginally posted onwestinghouse.com - 5 out of 5 stars review9/29/2020In preparing for a trip to northern California with it's possible rolling blackouts I spent many hours searching for a generator for our 32 foot fifth wheel. I came across reviews for the Westinghouse Igen4500. It had high reviews and was rated very quiet and was fairly light. I really wanted the duel fuel but it was out of stock so I ordered the gasoline model when it became available. I unboxed it yesterday. the battery was not secured and had knocked the door off the generator. the battery was still fine. I secured the battery with the strap, hooked up the cables, and reattached the access door. After adding the oil I flipped the battery switch on and hit the starter button, Within a second it was quietly purring. I plugged in...
Works like a champ.
Proud IdahoanOriginally posted onwestinghouse.com - 5 out of 5 stars review7/15/2024I did some research online before purchasing this generator . well packaged and is well built. after putting oil and gas in it started on the second pull. smoked a little on startup as would be expected on a brand new unit. very quiet while running when it had no load on it. but I doubt it will be much louder when under a load. will be trying it out soon to power th A C unit in my travel trailer
Well built compact unit
In a HurryOriginally posted onwestinghouse.com - 5 out of 5 stars review8/30/2024So far it’s easy set up. Directions are easy to understand. We will be using it this weekend for camping and I am looking forward to it. I read reviews before purchasing and I am excited to test the quietness of this and the ease of getting it up and running.

K12LOriginally posted onwestinghouse.com - 5 out of 5 stars review5/29/2021I'm giving 5 stars for the igen 4500 although I just received it and just got it running. Arrived on time with no damage put the oil in but not entire bottle as there was already oil in it. Hooked up the battery gave it a drink of fresh gas pushed the button and off it went. The remote worked as well and will be nice if the wife needs to use it. Overall very happy but time will tell.
Good features for the money
