Love this Generator!!

I bought a Champion 3500 and returned it because it would not work right strait from the box. A friend of mine had this one and we hooked it up to my 5th wheel and it worked great. I love how it's light enough so I can load it in the 5th wheel with no help. It is so much quieter then the Champion as well. I would recommend this to anyone looking to purchase one

Generating Power

I bought this to run my travel trailer while camping. I also bought this generator to run the house when we have a power outage. I filled it up with oil, and it started right up. I plan on running it for a few hours with a light amp load to help break the engine in.

Pleasantly suprised!

My review of the iGEN4500 is based on owning a Westinghouse WH2400i prior to this purchase. The iGEN4500 is roughly twice the size physically and in power. The iGEN4500 has more bells and whistles; electric and remote start, larger fuel tank, stronger engine, and carrying handle. Unfortunately, the iGEN4500 did not improve on the oil filler location. It is still troublesome to fill and not get oil inside the compartment. Access the internal on the iGEN4500 is better than the WH2400i. All is necessary is to unscrew some screws and you are in. I'm torn on gas consumption, though. I could get 14 hours on 1.4 gallons of gas with the WH2400i, but I get 22 hours on 3.4 gallons of gas with the iGEN4500. I really wanted the electric start so I was willing to accept the higher gas usage of the iGEN4500, or at least I think I do. Now, the most recognizable difference has been in sound (loudness). I believe both the iGEN4500 and WH2400i have the same decibel rating but to my ears the iGEN4500 is noticeably quieter. I really despise companies marketing generators as quiet and/or super quiet. It has to be as stupidest as calling power banks solar generators. Generators are not quiet, but I will say the iGEN4500 , compared to the WH2400i completely took me by surprise. In my book, there are two wins in the iGEN4500 column, electric start and less generator noise. Just like the WH2400i, I do not plan to put many hours on the unit. It will only see occasional use. But it is nice to know I can move the unit easily outdoor, run an extension cord to wherever my load is, go back indoors, and use the remote start key fob. It will be equally nice to barely hear the generator running from indoors. I hope this guy will give me troublefree operation just as the WH2400i during it reign.

Best generator I have ever had

I waited for a year to review. This generator starts and runs perfectly. I do run it periodically with a 10,000 BTU AC unit for a load so it is always ready when I need it. The computerized display showing fuel consumption and run time left is awesome. The built-in lift/tow arm makes moving it around a breeze. Nice design.

Started up right our of the box

Great product, read the instructions FYI check the oil before you pour the entire bottle of oil into the generator. Mine already had oil just a bit low. When I poured the whole bottle in it overflowed a ran everywhere. Lesson Learned. Other than user error, ran great and powers everything on my 38 foot toy hauler including the A/C

Great Generator

Purchased in February. Finally installed it late last month and have been using it since. Easy to use and works very well. Using lpg with it. Helpful display for power and output. Definitely would buy it again and recommend it. Would be helpful if the other display items worked with lpg. Thank you.

Plenty of power for our RV

Item arrived strapped to a pallet with no shipping damage at all. Followed instructions, filled with oil, connected battery and started the generator. Started right away, let engine run for about 15 minutes befor putting load on. It ran our RV with no problem and ran very quiet at full load.

quailty built generator.

very pleased with my iGen4500 purchase. easy to add the oil and start right out of the box. I read a lot of reviews which stated this model has automatic choke issues, well either I got lucky or they fixed the problem because mine works fine. haven't owned it for long so my review is limited to just a few tests but very happy with it so far. looking forward to camping season.

Very impressed

I am very impressed with all the features of this generator, especially considering the price. It has all the features and more than the Honda, Yamaha, Predator, and Wen generators I compared it to. I have a 2000 watt Yamaha already and was looking for a larger companion to it. This Westinghouse one has me sold! The 3 year warranty is an added bonus and piece of mind. I absolutely would recommend to friends. In fact I already have.

Problem From the Start But Fixed By YouTube

Out of the box, the generator would not start. I rechecked all startup instructions but no start. I removed the side panel and manually set the carburetor choke. The unit started. I shouldn't have to do this on a brand new Westinghouse product. There are 2 YouTube videos that explain the very problem I experienced. They are titled "Westinghouse iGen4500 Inverter Generator (Buyer Beware)", dated August 14, 2020, and "Westinghouse Gen 4500 Inverter Generator Repair", dated August 17, 2020. Westinghouse needs to watch these videos. If there are YouTube videos highlighting this issue, and I experienced it too, there must be many, many more units like it. The videos clearly show an quality control issue. The 5 pin male electrical plug that controls the carburetor choke does not lock into the female receiver at the control unit. There is no positive locking connection made during assembly. The connection came loose. Westinghouse can do better than this, or you can concede that the others will be better. My initial impressions and startup of this unit has left a bad taste in my mouth. But the issue is fixed (by me) and I'm willing to allow the generator time to prove itself. I am hoping for the best for my investment. Another issue. The 4500 rated peak watts has a hard time starting my 13,500 BTU AC compressor on my RV trailer. I would think that a 4500 watt peak rating would easily start this unit. Something to work on. Thanks for listening.
