- 5 out of 5 stars review4/27/2022I bought this generator because it was quite, had a great price and was powerful enough to run my Air Conditioning in my camper trailer in addition to other electrical loads. It is also easy to move around, thanks to the wheels and extendable handle. It handles like a travel suitcase. This is my second generator purchase. The first is also going strong!
Great RV Generator!
Timothy E.Originally posted onwestinghouse.com - 2 out of 5 stars review4/14/2021I just purchased this Generator and opened the box. I filled with oil and gas and read all the instructions. The first time starting the generator, I noticed fuel leaking from the bottom. I opened the side panel and noticed fuel leaking from the carburetor fuel bowl. I checked the bolt and it was tight. I took the bold holding the fuel bowl off and saw that the gasket was pinched and not inserted correctly. I flattened out the gasket and put the fuel bowl back on. I started the generator and let it run for 5 minutes with no leaks. I'm glad I was not out in the field using it for the first time when this happened. So far the Generator is quieter than I expected and runs smoothly. I will have a better opinion after running the unit ...
Poor Quality Control
AU HunterOriginally posted onwestinghouse.comWestinghouseHi, We are sorry to hear about this. We are glad you were able to get your iGen4500 up and running on your own! Rest assured... - 5 out of 5 stars review9/23/2021Bought this after a recent hurricane extended power outages to be ready for the next one. Quiet, compact, portable, decent output and simple to operate. Only one minor issue on initial set-up.The engine cover had one screw installed so tight from the factory I stripped the head trying to remove it. Had to drill it out to remove and install a new nut insert and bolt.
Quiet power
James66Originally posted onwestinghouse.com - 5 out of 5 stars review5/26/2024I have not used it yet but I did start it and made sure it was working properly. It starts really well using the starter and rope pull start. It is extremely quiet compare to my previews generator and very well made. I think this Igen5000c makes the best Generators you can buy.
Very good and well made igen5000c generator
AlejoOriginally posted onwestinghouse.com - 4 out of 5 stars review2/16/2022I own a Honda EU7500 generator which I love but was looking for something smaller, so I thought to give Westinghouse a try. The price point is amazing for the quality and features. I live in California where every household almost requires a generator for weather or power shut-off events. It runs very quiet, similar to my Honda, maybe a little quieter. My only complaint so far is the accessibility and ease of changing the oil, which happens more often than you may think, every 50 hours. I understand in order to keep it compact all the parts are placed accordingly, but if you have big hands this will be a serious chore. When changing the oil and removing the oil plug I have had issues with only loosing and removing the plug itself. the...
Quiet and compact
kottonOriginally posted onwestinghouse.com - 2 out of 5 stars review6/6/2021The machine will not start when it is cold. There is an electric choke that does not work on these models. your odds are 50/50 that you get a model that has this problem. I am going to start the process Monday. I will let you know how the customer service process is in future reviews.
Will not start but it looks great!
MnwildfanOriginally posted onwestinghouse.com - 5 out of 5 stars review3/25/2022Used this to run some audio and lighting for my stage production company. Love having the meter that shows the wattage being pulled! Also, the push start is fantastic. Makes it quick and easy. It started right up out of the box, and still does to this day.
Excellent generator!!
genguy1Originally posted onwestinghouse.com - 3 out of 5 stars review1/26/2022This unit is a warranty replacement for one I bought in July 2021. Out of the box, the autochoke did not work. fortunately I found a video on YT that showed me how to fix it in about 10 minutes. Unit ran well and met my power needs for my 5th wheel trailer. Unfortunately, the inverter failed after about 125 hours. Warranty service is a hassle. WH's tech support line is not supportive. Finally took my unit to an Authorized Service Center and it took them several weeks to get a replacement authorized. After that WH shipped the replacement in a few days. Unfortunately the autochoke doesn't work on the replacement and the YT video doesn't seem to apply. Back to the tech support grind!
Warranty Replacement - Autochoke Issues
CBinFLOriginally posted onwestinghouse.com - 5 out of 5 stars review3/31/2021This Inverter Gererator took 20 days to be delivered due to its high demand. Well worth the wait. Very quiet and enough power to keep my house functioning in an emergency. The controls are very clear and the well thought out and the remote start is a bonus.
Quiet Running, Clear Controls, Well Engineered
NakemdeadOriginally posted onwestinghouse.com - 5 out of 5 stars review4/14/2021Our family decided to buy the iGen4500 to be done with running two generators to accommodate our RV. We couldn't be happier with all the features that this model offers including remote start. The remote start was a first for us and is now and forevermore a requirement. The fact that there is an "eco" mode is a plus as well. Makes weekends, dry camping, at the lake a lot easier! Five stars!
Never go camping without it!
AJ MorenOriginally posted onwestinghouse.com - 5 out of 5 stars review7/17/2019I bought this for my wife to use for her horse trailer where I do no go with her, thus am not there to pull start a normal generator. She Loves the remote control start/stop button. Been having some recent trouble with the generator, but have found the service technician to be amazingly helpful in solving my problem. They want happy customers.
Great system
Little EddyOriginally posted onwestinghouse.com - 5 out of 5 stars review5/26/2020After months of comparing features and reading reviews and watching youtube videos, I decided to order the Igen 4500. I chose this generator because of it's 4500 watt peak capacity for use in our RV, and also emergency use at home. Setup was easy and started up first time with no issues. Love the remote start.
Great features
WolfmanOriginally posted onwestinghouse.com - 4 out of 5 stars review8/19/2020I’ve bought this unit after seeing one like it at our local RV Dealer. They carry the exact thing labeled by Onan. I like how quiet it is and the fact that it is big enough to run everything in my RV. The pricing I got on this unit was better than that of the Onan.
Started up on 1st start and seems to run perfect.
MattieOriginally posted onwestinghouse.com - 5 out of 5 stars review11/24/2021Recent power outages and a neighbor's recommendation spurred me to acquire this quiet and user-friendly generator for the next emergency. Setup and operating instructions are clear. The 3 starting options are helpful, and the remote start worked flawlessly.
Useful features
Mel75Originally posted onwestinghouse.com - 5 out of 5 stars review6/26/2021Love this generator so far.Love the ease of startup and estimate of fuel consumption .Remote feature is nice.I am older and cannot pull start equipment anymore.I use during blackouts and camping in a full size camper and power's everything no problems.
Love the digital features
KporterOriginally posted onwestinghouse.com - 5 out of 5 stars review11/1/2020Connected this through an interlock kit into the whole house. Runs everything. Although needed to grab some power from the regular outlets to capture the whole 4500 peak. I run the refrigerator off of that set of outlets and the RV plug goes into the power panel. I created my own cable to split the single hot lead into two that go to both hots in a L14-30 then to a double 30 amp breaker which then powers both legs of the panel. You can't get 240 of course, but you can use all 120 circuits that way. Get an interlock kit or use a cutover panel; only safe way to ensure you don't energize the main utility grid and kill a lineman.
Excellent product. Great features, clean power!
MAHomePowerOriginally posted onwestinghouse.com - 3 out of 5 stars review4/16/2021When up around 7500 feet the automatic choke puts out toon much fuel and the unit will not start. I have to remove cover and manually adjust the choke to get it to start. The manual adjustment means the remote start does not work. I am hoping tech support has a solution which retains the remote start function.
Automatic choke
Mondri16Originally posted onwestinghouse.com - 5 out of 5 stars review5/18/2022I bought this generator after reading many reviews. I did not know what an inverter generator was and did not understand (or believe) how a small generator could produce so much power, be so much smaller in size and weight, be so fuel efficient and be so quite. This generator is also very easy to operate. Simply turn on the power switch, switch on the fuel and hit the start button, its that easy. We just returned from a four day trip to attend a NASCAR race and ran the generator 24 hours a day with the Air Conditioner cranked down low, only shutting it down to add fuel every 12 hours. That is an incredible run time for a generator with a 3.4 gallon fuel tank. I highly recommend this generator. You will be impressed and pleased.
Fantastic Generator for RV's
bealstwOriginally posted onwestinghouse.com - 5 out of 5 stars review2/25/2021I removed it from the box, connected the battery, installed the supplied oil, filled the gas tank, turned on the fuel, turned on the battery, pressed the start button and immediately it purred to life. I connected my heat gun and it worked. My only disappointment is that the digital read out is in metric liters and kilowatts. I did a google search and found charts to convert them (see attached).
Today I received my IGen4500 inverter-generator
