Has it All

I ordered this generator to power up my RV when I'm Boon-docking, it works like a charm, powering my microwave, air-conditioner and functioning as if I were connected to shore-line. I cannot believe how quiet this unit is, very quiet! The Control Panel is easy read, easy access. This generator is a powerhouse little package and easy to move using the retractable handle. I love the remote star feature, no need to step outside in the morning to start it up, just click the remote. It seems as though all the things that a camper would like or need was considered when designing and engineering this unit. I would also mention that a simple thing like a funnel to fill the unit with motor oil has been provided and it is threaded on the end that goes into the oil fill, ensuring a clean, neat installation. Little things like this along with the performance of this generator make this unit a number one choice in it's field.

nice features

Just purchased it have not use it much. I am comparing it to champion 4000 inverter generator. Which I liked a lot. Purchased this one because of good reviews. This has more features very easy to use and is even more quite. I have already recommend it to my brother.

Almost a perfect Generator for an RV.

I bought this for our 35' 5th Wheel after struggling with two smaller units in parallel. After a long and tedious Break In period, we have run it ~350 hrs. over the past summer in sweltering heat at times -- over 100F. We run it non stop boondocking for three or four days at a time and have had ZERO Problems with it. The run time is very good, not great when running the AC continuously, but that's what you get in a compact unit. In our RV, we are running the AC, Fridge, Hot Water Heater, Ceiling Fan, Coffee Pot, Microwave, two Satellite receivers with 32" TV's, Device Chargers and the occasional Hair Drier and the coach battery charger. Never all at once, but I don't have to do much "Power Management" and use common sense. However, on a hot day, pulling ~30Amps continuously for hours is not uncommon. I installed a "Soft Start" on the AC. Best investment next to the IGen4500. Makes life easy on everything. Also, a GOOD Break In and load test is really important - to me anyway. The first start up with factory oil was on and off every 30-minutes for a couple of hours allowing it to completely cool off. Then the same with a half load or so with with an electric heater turning the heater on and off every 15-minutes or so. Then an oil change at about 5-6 hours. Then a load of Full Synthetic Mobil Delvac-1 5W-40 Engine Oil. Repeating the same procedure, although going up to full load with two electric heaters, again varying the load between zero, half and full load+ with full cool downs for another 5-6 hours, then another oil change with synthetic. Then I ran it about another ten hours with several cool down / start ups cycles with varying loads of zero up to the maximum output of 4k+ -- for several minutes at a time. After about 20 hours or so, I changed the oil one last time before we hit the road with it. I have been changing the oil at about 100hr intervals since. Zero oil consumption and it comes out pretty clean. Our last trip we ran it non-stop for over 70hrs. After ~350hrs on it, I am pretty happy. It has been the least of my worries traveling.

Nice generator

I bought this generator a couple weeks ago. The shipping was a joke. It took forever. The gas lid gas had some rust on it but I knew it from the reviews I read. If u order a cover for it BEWARE they put it on the very top. Cut mine completely in half opening box. Just did first oil change and very happy so far.

Powerful unit that I can load by myself

Bought this generator for the sound level and maneuverability. It weighs just under a hundred pounds and I can load and unload this without any help. Have no issues with the unit at all. Added oil & gas, connected the battery and started it up. Done.

Quieter than I expected

I just purchased the iGen4500 model and I'm very pleased with it this far. It is surprisingly quiet for a 3700 Watt generator. My only gripe so far is that I'll need the high altitude kit which I didn't know I'd need. Would've been nice to know that ahead of time but otherwise very solid generator.

Best Generator for RV at hunt camp

Just received the unit. Well built and performs extremely well. Would have given 5+ stars except - the battery terminals were already connected to the battery and the negative bolt and connection were very corroded, Quick disconnect, clean and treat with battery connection spray fixed that. Starts easily with electric start or pull rope, idles right down and runs very quiet for so much power. I'd get it again !!

So far, so good

I bought the IGen4500 portable inverter generator on November 7 and I just received it today November 13. The initial setup looks straight forward reviewing the procedures and looking in the different doors. Looking forward to getting it all setup and broken in before the next PSPS here in SoCal.

Perfect Choice

I researched hours for what I hoped would be the perfect generator. I have a "whole house", 11K generator, but store sold me on whole house when in fact I would have needed another 6-10K. So last year during Irma, the whole house decided to konk out and left me with no power. I borrowed a 3700 and ran 2 refrigerators, freezer, computers, tv & fans. It saved me as power was out exactly 6 days. So I settle on the iGen 4500 because of features and price and I can see I didn't make a mistake. I'll get to the cons but the pros: easy start and far quieter than I imagined. Had to keep going outside during test run just to make sure it was running. Love all the information on the digital screen and didn't even cough when I put a load on it. Seems to be frugal with the fuel use. The cons: First off the panels, all of which had to come off in order to access important pieces. The back for the battery, wire to connect battery was tucked so far under the unit you couldn't see it thru the access panel. They recommend draining fuel from the carb bowel after use but you have to take the five screws out of the side panel to access the unit. Why not use butterfly screws/bolts to make this process so much easier. On to oil access. You can see it but if your hands are big getting to the dip stick and getting it off and rethreaded takes some doing. Those are all minor details the company should be looking at and wouldn't deter me from buying this unit again. I don't want to have to use it but wow, what a great piece of mind I just bought. Had two other brands picked out but am sure this is the right one. With continued use maybe I'll update down the road.

used it once. works well. quiet.

at pick-up, I noticed the box appeared a bit beaten, as if it were opened and resealed. Also at set-up, both battery wires were connected. I was supposed to connect a wire to the battery. Both + and - were connected. The center bottom screw on the front vibrated out and was lost.
