- 5 out of 5 stars review4/11/2019Purchased the inverter from HD on 4/4/2019, delivered on 4/9/2019. Took it out the box and filled with oil as instructed, added gas and she started right up. Got this for our RV that has a 15K ac. Ran it for about 2 hours trying to put a 25% load on it but could, I would have to run everything in the RV. Ran the heater but didn't get to 25%.
Worked as expected iGen4500
DeckidOriginally posted onwestinghouse.com - 5 out of 5 stars review10/24/2022I have been looking at a variety of different generators to power my new 5th wheel. This isn’t something I will use very often - maybe 2 or 3 times a year when boon-docking. I have had generators in the past and seldom used them do to noise levels and weight, so both were important considerations for me. I wanted something that I could carry on the back of my 5th wheel when needed (easy to load and unload) and be able to setup 50 feet away and not know it is running. While I haven’t had much time to run the new Westinghouse iGen 4500, I have to say I am impressed so far. Unboxing and setup was very straightforward. Added gas and oil, connected the battery and fired it up. I started small with the load - first a light, then a power tool u...
Does the job quietly
JomaniOriginally posted onwestinghouse.com - 4 out of 5 stars review6/21/2022Bought this less than a year ago and used maybe 4 times after following the break-in instructions then just quit and wouldn't start. Customer Service believes the "TCI" needs replaced and is sending it to me. We'll see how that goes but so far I'm happy with the service.
used a couple of times before it wouldn't start
Sundance6582Originally posted onwestinghouse.com - 5 out of 5 stars review6/3/2019The iGen4500 model is exactly what I was looking for in a portable generator. Camping without full or partial hook-ups have always been a struggle, but not now! This generator will run our air, lights, microwave, and other appliances with ease. Now we can camp at the best locations without having to sacrifice our simple camping pleasures!
Exactly what I ws looking for...
HarpfangOriginally posted onwestinghouse.com - 5 out of 5 stars review10/9/2023I have owned a ton of Generators, I own 54 rental homes in Florida so I’ve had to rely on generators after hurricanes, I bought this one for our RV, it’s super quiet, starts instantly, will run about 12-13 hours on a fill up, we are new to the RV world but was told that what annoys other campers the worst are loud generators, this one can sit beside you and you don’t have to raise your voice just to hear, we have a Honda generator as well but it’s louder than the Westinghouse, we can also run most everything in our camper while it’s on eco mode. Try this generator out and you will feel the way we do
Super quiet
LucsevenOriginally posted onwestinghouse.com - 1 out of 5 stars review3/14/2021I bought 2 of these generators and one started great and worked fine and the other started but the choke stayed closed. I had to remove the side cover to get at the choke and manually open it. I learned how to do this in a tech service bulletin. I don’t know if the same thing will happen again later. This seems to be an issue in a lot of reviews that I’ve read. One out of two is a really bad initial first impression quality rating.
Motor started but choke stayed closed
SadBertOriginally posted onwestinghouse.com - 4 out of 5 stars review4/23/2021Unit came complete with very well written instruction. There are two small problems for people like me with big hands. The oil fill location is difficult at best and the extendable handle is a little less robust than i would like. Overall ... very good buy
A very compact small power unit
Ky HotRodOriginally posted onwestinghouse.com - 5 out of 5 stars review4/8/2022I purchased the Igen4500 to replace an older, smaller conventional generator. Set up was easy after reading the manual completely first. The generator started right up and I ran it for a half hour or so. It's really quiet compared to the conventional generator. It's primary function will be to supply backup power after a Hurricane. So, it will be a while (hopefully never) before any long term usage. I do not however expect any problems because of the build quality.
Great so far
KramdenOriginally posted onwestinghouse.com - 5 out of 5 stars review8/12/2018Minor box damage but unit itself in perfect condition. Would not start with electric start button, even after charging battery. We did mess with the automatic choke lever as talked about in a lot of reviews and then were able to get it started via the manual pull after a number of tries. Once it ran for about 10 minutes, we were able to turn it off and now have started it multiple times with the electric start with no problems-so it seems to be fine after the initial start up. It is very quiet, but we haven't actually used it yet to comment on it's full functioning. I'm looking forward the camping next weekend to see how it does!
So Far So Good
JadeOriginally posted onwestinghouse.com - 5 out of 5 stars review8/21/2020The iGen4500 is very easy to set up right out of the box. It started right up and runs very quiet. Ours will be used for RVing and I am sure our neighbors will appreciate the low hum of this generator. Maintenance seems very easy and it is easy to maneuver with the telescoping handle and never flat wheels.
Very Quiet Generator
MoonOriginally posted onwestinghouse.com - 2 out of 5 stars review8/16/2021Followed the manual for battery, oil and fuel setup. Started and it ran rough. Not wanting to tinker with a new device, I called customer support 7 days ago, haven't heard anything back. Rough running in their manual could be too much oil or lack of a high altitude kit. Then I read the comments...and lo and behold the electric choke cable was the culprit. You don't have to take the side off to see if yours is loose or like mine bent off the pins. You can look in the vent holes beneath the pull cord with a flashlight and see if yours is off or bent. I removed the bolts around the side, and the screws along the front and back faceplates, note* there is one underneath the rubber around the gas cap, those are all under little rubber caps. The p...
Didn't work out of the box
TacoJoeOriginally posted onwestinghouse.com - 4 out of 5 stars review9/13/2019Received this product twos before the estimated date, very nice. Box in good condition, no missing parts. The only issue is the battery in the generator seems to be dead or needs to be recharged. I still plan to investigate, but with that said pulled the cord once and it started with no issues.
Excellent Product
Hcraver0714Originally posted onwestinghouse.com - 5 out of 5 stars review2/19/2022I purchased this generator several months ago and have used it enough at this point to be very pleased with its performance. I use it for home backup on power failures, and for my travel trailer (where it powers a Central A/C unit). I put it on a Durhand motorcycle lift, so I can wheel it around and raise it to the backup of my pickup truck with ease (I'm 75, it's a bit heavy for me to lift). Electric start has worked flawlessly, and I appreciate the large capacity tank.
Quiet, Easy Startup
CESDewarOriginally posted onwestinghouse.com - 5 out of 5 stars review7/29/2021I shopped around and purchased this generator. I am very glad I did. The features it has are amazing. My plans of using it for my RV needs are easily met. I can also use it in the event of a home blackout to keep essentials going. It is very quiet, in fact one of the quietest generators I have heard. The digital display takes all the guess work out of the generator. The push button start is a very cool feature. This generator is excellent. My next purchase will be another to parallel to power virtually my whole house in the event of a blackout.
Overall Excellent Generator
Sblanchet2131Originally posted onwestinghouse.com - 4 out of 5 stars review5/25/2024I have just bought it and only run it a few hours with small loads. I am dissapointed that if you want to use the remote feature , you must turn on a lighted switch and when you turn it off with the remote, the light on the red light on the switch stays on, in my case all night and all day next day, I had to recharge the battery. It kind of defeats the purpose of a remote if you physically have to leave your RV to turn off the switch.
DECENT PURCHASE
YiyoOriginally posted onwestinghouse.com - 5 out of 5 stars review7/3/2021Contrary to some beliefs there is nothing wrong with this generator. Received it 26 June 2021 added oil and gas on the 27th it started right up and purred like a kitten very quiet even when not on Econ mode. Nothing wrong with the electric choke like others have said. Only thing that ticked me off was the side panel on the side where you check the oil received a crack on shipping. Westinghouse shipped me a new one the very next day after i reported it to them. The only issue will be removing the handle bolt holding the side cover on it is extremely tight used an impact and it still will not come loose i told Westinghouse someone tightened it too tight at the factory. This generator is unbelievable quiet have to hear to believe. I tested it ...
Extremely quiet, more quiet than a Honda
OlsargeOriginally posted onwestinghouse.com - 4 out of 5 stars review8/13/2018The generator ended up being larger than we expected. However, the wheels make it easy to move/use. Very quiet, and runs everything we need it to run. So impressed with how quiet it is. The #1 reason we wanted this Generator. We were not disappointed.
SUPER QUIET, LOVE THIS GENERATOR
StacyOriginally posted onwestinghouse.com - 5 out of 5 stars review11/22/2021So far we have used it 3 long weekends and other than doing oil changes hasn't had a problem except the auto choke not working on first start up and had to take side panel off to manually run the choke. One perk was it does have a built in hour meter which in the book said it doesn't.
Has worked great for our travel trailer.
White21Originally posted onwestinghouse.com - 5 out of 5 stars review7/19/2023These units are amazing and rank in second place in comparison to all other generators this size. It starts on the first try. Gives us all the power we need! It is so good that we have purchased 4 of them! Did I tell you they are so quiet running? Well, they are the most quiet generators that I have used.
Westinghouse GREAT Generators
DB24Originally posted onwestinghouse.com - 5 out of 5 stars review10/26/2022I’ve been borrowing my buddies Westinghouse IGen 4500 for several weeks now and I have been extremely impressed with this generator. I recently bought my own, my family and I like to camp off grid in our rv as much as possible throughout the year. This generator has been able to keep my air conditioner, all my appliances, plugs, lights, tv, and some other equipment running at one time during the summer and does everything I need it to do in the winter aswell. It’s very quiet so you can have it running at night while everyone is sleeping without bugging or waking anyone. It shipped to me in perfect condition and required very little work to get the generator started and running. I give the westinghouse IGen4500 5 stars because it deserves i...
