I have used match light for all my BBQ and grilling this summer and it saved so much time verses other products I've used in the past. I had heard that it affects the flavor but after using I can personal say that it has no affect on that great grilled flavor I look for. I can't imagine ever going back to anything else.

I have been having issues with this charcoal all summer. I can only use half a bag then go to use the other half that is out of the weather and sealed...... and it does not want to light. It is like it has an expiration date.... I think I am going to go to another brand :(

I bought a bag of Match Light to take a baseball game to tailgate beforehand. We could not get the coals to light. We even tried burning part of the bag to ignite the coals. Still didn’t work. We ended up eating the overpriced food in the ballpark spending about $150 rather than the good food we brought.

Bought a bag of matchlight 2 wks ago and just opened to use last night. I couldn't get lit after several attempts. Finally had to go to store for fluid. Very disappointed. Told daughter about and she said had same problem with bout a year ago. Will never buy again. It was both time consuming and wound up costing me more in long run.

I used to use original Kingdford for about 40 years. The last 10 years it seems the composition of wood used in the original blend has changed. We used to use newspaper or paper plates to light up the standard charcoals from Kingsford. But they don't light quickly or at all. When they did light, they would light unbalanced and it would take longer to cook. I use the two zone cooking method. Using the Match Light version lights fast and evenly. I prefer the original but it doesn't work for us. So Match Light is what we been using the last 10 years mostly. Sometimes I may add oak wood to extend the cooking. I have not experienced any unpleasant taste after cooking using the Match Light. But I know there is lighter fluid in it. So we don't BBQ as often as we used too with the original blend of Kingsford.
