The thought a cooking on the grille with charcoal getting the grill out, trying to find the lighter, finding matches, waiting for the charcoal was not a pleasant experience...now I happy to get the grill out and pour out the charcoal find the matches and bingo the charcoal is started. No muss nofuss!!!!

A friend of mine recently recommended this particular brand of charcoal. Purchased a bag yesterday and was amazed! The charcoals burned so smoothly and grilled my food to perfection! This will now be the only brand that I purchase in the near future! Definitely recommending this to other!

We bought this charcoal and it would not light for nothing! We tried several times and nothing!!! We finally used lighter fluid, but we had to use half a bottle for this charcoal to light. Never again!! It must have been a dud bag or something but it was a nightmare!!!

We have used four times of one bag. We were used to lugging clover down while cooking. But with this product food smelled like gasoline. All night we were sick. The second time we kept lid up and did not cool until flame gone and charcoal very hot. This was acceptable. But the last times our clothing smells from it and I can't get rid of gasoline taste which is very light but annoying. The convenience is indesputable, but I will not buy again

You would not except ZERO STARS, why not? It is worse than poor! I have purchase Kingsford Original almost exclusively for over 50 years. This was my first purchase of a different Kingsford product. I found it to be the VERY WORST charcoal purchase I have ever made. The performance was completely unacceptable for me. I bought it primarily for us when RV camping so I would not have to use a lighter fluid or carry my chimney starter. Our first camping trip with it was a couple of weeks ago and it performed miserably. The first time I had to keep relighting briquettes with matches over and over and it took over an hour to get the charcoal pile started (gray ash covered) to where I could cook. The second attempt was made using a piece of newspaper under the briquette stack and ONLY took 45 minutes. I tried one more time a when I got home using a propane light stick. Again it took ONLY 45 or 50 minutes. Today I violated your statement to never use a chimney starter method with newspaper. At least it was quicker than plain Kingsford Original, but still took 15 minutes to get completely gray ash covered. Needless to say I think I wasted some money buying this product. Hopefully, I won't be disappointed in my next purchase of Kingsford (non Match Light). Although, I may be tempted to try a competitor.

This is the only charcoal my husband will buy, many years ago he worked at the plant here in Missouri. It was such a messy job, but he liked it. We have this on hand at all times even through the winter, because you never know when the weather will be nice enough to grill some steaks. Thank you for an awesome product.

The first two times, I was eventually able to light it using kindling firewood and salvage our dinner, but on the third (and final) attempt while camping it didn't light at all--went to bed cold and hungry and then when I got home, I had to throw away $25 worth of steak. Don't entrust your camping dinner or tailgate to this product!

I used to buy matchlight all the time. With recent poor results of having an entire bag not wanting to light I switched to HEB brand. Now I have moved and there is no HEB I decided to try matchlight again. Bought a 11.6 lb bag to find out they were again just rocks. Now looking for another brand.

I have been unsatisfied with your product for the past three years. I have an Orion Cooker that recommends your product. Your product just does not light. Today I used lighter to ignite your product. The cooker requires high heat at the beginning to perform successfully, thus I can not use a chimney starter.

I wanted to treat myself to some grilled salmon for my Thanksgiving meal alone, but the Match Light wouldn't start no matter what I did. I've seen your other responses, so don't bother telling me about the pyramid etc. I saw nothing here or on the bag that suggested that Match Light is useless in cold weather. Even in the summer, I was having trouble getting them to light. Maybe you should use more built-in lighter fluid when you make them so it doesn't evaporate even when using a fresh, properly stored, new bag. Very disappointed.
