I had the privilege of being introduced to this whiskey during a family Christmas gathering. My father, wife, and I loved it so much we bought a new bottle 3 days in a row. Incredibly smooth and drinkable. Full rich flavor. Unique among whiskeys past. Absolutely amazing for its price point. I can't recommend it enough.

I find my way around many bourbons & ryes, more than most women I assume, our family loves to collect. I am honestly ALL about this dark rye. I find myself reaching for this bottle more than most. I constantly hype it to strangers, friends & family. The depth of flavor, comfort of heat without the overwhelming burn, the fullness & rich color... It's absolutely wonderful. It's more than worthy for a spot on home the liquor shelf, for a gift, for a celebration, you won't be disappointed. So smooth & easy to drink.

Had a bar tended at one of my favorite whisky stops turn me on to this, wow! I love Rye's and now have a new go-to for my daily "two fingers", clean, smooth and great value!

I had this over the holidays with an old friend who literally has "one of everything" bourbon. We compared it to 3 other BH bottles he had and this was by far the favorite. Thanks Doc for the recommendation.

Basil Hayden Dark Rye is an absolute favorite in our household! The rich, smooth blend of rye whiskies with a touch of port gives it an incredibly deep and complex flavor. It’s perfect for sipping neat or making an elevated Old Fashioned. However, we have no idea why we can’t buy this at Sam’s Club in Marion, IL anymore! We used to purchase it there regularly, and now it’s nowhere to be found. Meanwhile, we can find it at every other Sam’s Club—just not our own. Please bring it back to Marion, IL! We miss having easy access to one of the best rye whiskies out there.

Last year I tried using this in my home made egg nog and after bottling it and let it sit and shaking every few days to keep it mixed we final popped the cork and tried it. Man what a taste. It was smooth and tasty. Better than any other I had tried. It was a big hit. So if you haven't never tried it in nog you won't be disappointed.

This is a satisfying drink either on the rocks or in a cocktail. I have made several old fashioneds and it is remarkably good. The string notes of spice and the fruit notes are excellent. Nutmeg and clove make great back notes and finish. Overall, very good but not your typical rye.

When I first opened a bottle of Basil Hayden's Dark Rye I wasn't too impressed to be honest, but after drinking 1/2 the bottle and letting it sit for few months it's changed into an experience I've never had before. I think the addition of port has helped this rye evolve into a very unique whiskey. If you're a wine lover, then I think you'd enjoy this whiskey.

I like this now I wouldnt drink this straight as a daily ir weekender but it make a great Manhattan and adds depth to an old fashion.. it can be sipped but not my first choice. 4.3
