Basil Hayden Dark Rye is an absolute favorite in our household! The rich, smooth blend of rye whiskies with a touch of port gives it an incredibly deep and complex flavor. It’s perfect for sipping neat or making an elevated Old Fashioned. However, we have no idea why we can’t buy this at Sam’s Club in Marion, IL anymore! We used to purchase it there regularly, and now it’s nowhere to be found. Meanwhile, we can find it at every other Sam’s Club—just not our own. Please bring it back to Marion, IL! We miss having easy access to one of the best rye whiskies out there.

I have always enjoyed Hayden bourbon, so since I was getting a Sam’s Club price, I thought I would try the rye. This is very fine sipping rye, smooth but bold. Should not be drank in shots.

Last year I tried using this in my home made egg nog and after bottling it and let it sit and shaking every few days to keep it mixed we final popped the cork and tried it. Man what a taste. It was smooth and tasty. Better than any other I had tried. It was a big hit. So if you haven’t never tried it in nog you won’t be disappointed.

Outstanding flavor. I drink it with water. I am Canadian living in Alberta so I drink rye regularly.

I tried this recently and was stunned at how good it it is. I’ve recommended to friends who are bourbon drinkers and those who’ve tried it were pleased.

Excellent flavor and smooth

I like this now I wouldnt drink this straight as a daily ir weekender but it make a great Manhattan and adds depth to an old fashion.. it can be sipped but not my first choice. 4.3

I prefer the malted rye but this is a good next choice.
