He often forgets to eat or doesn't want to eat and mealtimes had become a constant struggle that frustrated both him and me. However, he is always willing to drink an Ensure. I have also warmed it slightly and told him that it was "coffee" and he takes it with a smile. Lately he has had difficulty swallowing and aspirates when he does. The physician instructed us to thicken his drinks but he does not like the texture or taste of the thickener. Fortunately Ensure is that perfect thickness (just a bit more than water) that allows him to swallow safely. I drink a bottle 3 times a day once after a light breakfast, at lunch especially if I have a lot of errand to run and don't have time to eat and a third one with my dinner.
