Smells and tastes awful.

Not sure if just a bad batch or what. But, I totally agree with another reviewer that it looks, tastes and smells bad. Sam's is normally high quality with all of their products. I hope they find a betr brand. Now, off 2 c if the dog will eat it.

Worth IT

I buy this and use it, to make Sloppy Joe's. I also use it in my beef stew and my pasta sauce rather then meatballs.Everyone in my family loves it. Most of all I don't have to worry about it going bad.

It's alright

Random impulse buy for days im lazy to make food. Ive only been putting it on pizza and its pretty good like that. Otherwise it just looks a bit unappetizing

Tender Beef

I was so tired of soup while waiting for my dentures. This beef is so tender, put on whatever kind of noodles and steamed veggies and it is the best. Will be buying this all the time.

Avoid

If you are in search of good roast beef, you will need to keep looking. Its best feature is that it is tender; cooked to death might be a better description. It is also on the salty side for those on salt-restricted diets. Even covered in good gravy, it does not turn out well as a main dish. We will donate the remaining three cans. Avoid.

Very versatile for dinner options.

I keep this in the pantry because the price of meats are atrocious. I take a can and add a couple cups of water with a helping tablespoon of Member's Mark beef base and a bit of Gravy Master liquid (for darker color). I then add some corn starch mixed with cold water and pour it into the beef mixture to thicken. I put this over instant potatoes to have a filling dinner. I have also used this beef to make a quick beef barley soup. The product is a bit salty, but adding more water to make it go farther helps. This product is excellent for an emergency situation. One of the reasons for the original purchase. It's nice to have some canned meats on hand.

Great for stews....

I used the Butterfield Farms Roast Beef to make a gravy for church.... I added peppers, onions, cream of mushroom soup and cream of chicken soup to make the gravy and it cooked all night in the crock pot.... Everyone loved it.... So many compliments.... People could not believe it was canned meat.... Yes I will buy this again.....

What Happened?

I don't know what happened. This used to be good; not anymore. I don't know what happened, but now it tastes terrible. I marinated it the last time I used it, but the awful taste overwhelmed the marinate. I would give it to my neighbor to feed to his dogs, but I'm afraid I would get arrested for animal cruelty.

Not bad for canned meat.

Not bad for canned meat, but pretty salty. I didn't expect this to taste like a roast that I just took out of the oven though. It is a can of beef, after all so some quality is going to suffer from processing. The meat itself is slightly chewy, but still retains quite a bit of a roast beef texture. The flavor is very salt forward then the beef flavor comes out. It's not as salty as a different brand that I had purchased from Walmart, and it tastes better than that one. It's fine for emergency use, camping, hiking or travel, but not something I'd use on a regular basis in my normal cooking. I can my own meat as well and this isn't as good as my home canned meat, but not as bad as the stuff I bought from Walmart. I added it to a pot of soup and it was fine in the soup.

Mystery Meat

Can is full about 3/4 product and juice surrounding it. Might be good for extra protein in something but looks like dog food, small moulded roundish pieces, and taste isnt recognizable. Even the texture is off. Even my dog won't eat it. Only gave it a two star because of amount & portion size in convienent pop-top cans. I usually buy Papa Charlie's Gravy & Roast Beef, Seasoned, Thin Sliced, 2-1/4 Pounder in frozen at another store. Comparible in price and 100% worth it as comparible to Italian Subs. In slices, rich taste, authentic, everything this is not.
