Just received the generator yesterday so a bit early to review but it did arrive a few days earlier than expected.. Started it up twice to break it In before actually using it, starts up first strong pull (had my 11 year old try and pull start it it was a bit tough for him) but it does run smooth, a bit loud but not as loud as older generators use to be..

I bought the Westinghouse 5300 dual fuel generator back in March of this year. I bought it because I wanted to be prepared for anything that could cause power disruption or if I needed it on the go. When I opened the box I noticed right away how impressive it looked and it was very easy to set up. I have used it a few times since and it still works perfectly. I am still in awe every time I look at it. Best of all is knowing it is there when I may need it the most especially since it can run off gas or propane.

This particular model is a high quality one that works well. Nothing felt or looked cheap. It has good connectivity and nice features. I had a little trouble starting it on propane the first time, but a shot of starting fluid fixed the issue, and it now starts on the first or second pull every time. The only drawback I noticed is that it is quite loud even for equipment of this type... approximately the sound of a gas push mower when standing next to it, but I wasn't expecting whisper quiet either, so not a big issue. Overall, it is worth what I paid for it.

Couldn't be happier with my purchase of this Westinghouse generator! I love the duel fuel option, gas or propane, that gives me the ability to run the generator on different fuel sources depending on the situation. Looked around at other brands but came back to Westinghouse for their price point and known reliability.

Just received the generator. Had physical damage to the packaging but nothing apparent to the actual generator. Did not include instructions or any paper work so I'm on line now downloading the manual and registering the product. Hope things continue to work out. I'll be back if there are any problems starting it up.

I bought this in case of power outages, emergencies, etc., I'm so glad we have peace of mind. We started it up, which was simple enough, and it wasn't terribly loud, which is great. I love that it can use both gas and propane. I'll have to test it out when the power goes out to update my review about appliances, hours, etc. Otherwise, it seems great.

I bought this dual fuel generator to replace an old gas gen that is far too heavy for me to lift into my truck to take to get repaired. Figured was better to just buy a new one than (never) get the old repaired. Love that it is dual fuel, just wish this model had a remote electric start. I also purchased a commercial grade 4-outlet extension cord that connects to the 240v output, since it’s really two 120v, that way I can put a high draw appliance or tool on each of the two 120v legs.

I received the generator from UPS the outside of the package did not have any out of the ordinary damage. However, when I opened the package up I found that there was damage on the area that you pull the string to start the motor. I contacted customer support and they mailed me a new recoil and guard. I’ll pause to say that the level of support that I received from westing house customer service agent (once they called me back) was fantastic. The agent told me that it was very simple to install. And he told me that there would be directions in the box. Once I received the replacement part (there were no directions. And while it was pretty straight forward to do I know that my wife or mom could not have replaced the part. The replacement part had to be bent a little bit to fit correctly Once complete there generator powered up great. I ran it a while to break it in and hooked it up to the house and it ran all the necessary components. Only time will tell how the generator holds up. This will be used periodically to provide power in case of a power outage … and will also be used occasionally for my travel trailer. Thanks for an easy to use product My reason for the 3 star review is because there was damage but the shipping box was not damaged at all. This tells me that the damaged occurred prior to shipping. The quality department should not have let that go out the door.

We finally got to use the generator for hurricane Idelia. Started with only one pull (for my husband). Ran for hours without a glitch. Love the fact that we can chose propane or gas. We feel much more at ease with two more months of hurricane season this year.

Great power for the price and the duel fuel option is a great benefit. When gasoline is in short supply or inconvenient to transport the propane option works great. The L14-30A output allows direct connection to my house panel through the backup power inlet and transfer switch in case of lengthy power outage. Testing with propane fuel showed I can power the whole house less the air conditioner. Or switch everything off and run just the 2.5 ton air conditioning system.
