Great features for the price

One too many power outages without backup. Great peace of mind that is inexpensive compared to loss of cold/frozen food, house lights and contact with the outside world (battery recharge). Easy setup and break-in just prior to the second power outage in a month.

Poor Quality

I bought the first one Jan 2023. Ran for about 20 mins and power shut down in the middle of a regional power outage. Motor ran smooth but absolutely no power output, with gauge completely dark. I exchanged the item and hoping the replacement is of better quality.

Can run overnight on a gas fill up

I purchased this to use after Hurricane Ian this month. Was very happy that it ran on propane and gas. I wasn't sure what fuel I would be able to get. It also was able to run overnight on one filling of gas. We could watch tv, power our CPAP machines and the refrigerator and lights without waking up in the night because my CPAP machine stopped working.

Ample power

Lost power for 24 hours. Had bought the generator ahead of time. Was able to plug my furnace fan and lights into it and keep the house toasty and well lit. Just for curiosity I plugged my 220 shop heater into it and it handled it just fine. Runs fairly quiet, I am quite happy with this generator. Might even take it camping with me.

Started on the first pull! READ THE USER MANUAL!!!

I did massive research on my first generator as to what to buy, and this was the best bang for my buck when it came to my needs vs the specs of this generator. This unit is extremely heavy, too heavy for carriers with no material moving equipment. UPS, FedEx and USPS use no equipment to help them deliver packages, so unless Arnold Schwartzenegger is delivering your generator, know in advance the box will arrive damaged, but the generator (I think) is packaged with this in mind. After all, the generator is so heavy, one can only lift it so hi, so it doesn't have far to fall if dropped. After setting up my generator, it was obvious to me that people were not following directions when reading their reviews. I don't care if you have been operating generators all your life (like myself) this one will not set up, prep and start like any other your used too. READ THE DIRECTIONS! This generator ships with no motor oil and has a "break in" period. Be sure to pour the entire contents of the supplied oil into the crankcase. (3/4 of a court capacity) 10w30. After the break in period (run for 1 hour with no load), it recommends after 25 hours of load run time to change the oil. That's where I recommend converting to synthetic oil. This generator comes with everything you need to set it up except the fuel. It even comes with the tools to put the legs and wheels on and a funnel to pour the oil in. This thing started on the very first pull for me, and runs quieter than any of my previous generators. Bottom line: If you don't read the user manual, don't dare complain about the item or leave a bad review. People who have been using generators for years like myself (and those who make them) can tell if they have read the instructions or not just by reading a review. Even with all the "fibs" within it. This generator is worth buying even if you don't know how to interpret and apply the instructions, just hire someone else who knows what they're doing to set it up for you. Way to go Westinghouse! Eat your heart out Generac!

Just what I needed!

My old pred gas genny let me down so I decided to go out and buy this dual fuel WGen5300DFv and I absolutely love it. I mostly wanted it because it has the fuel fuel option because I’d rather be able to run propane since it’s cleaner, more reliable and less maintenance although you do get less wattage than using gas which is okay because it’s still much more than the wattage I was getting from my pred. I strongly suggest getting a duel fuel Westinghouse generator.

Easy startup!

I bought this generator at the beginning of hurricane season. Of all the generators I considered, this one was the best price and the highest reviews. Putting the feet and wheels on was a breeze and while it is a pull start I was pleasantly surprised that I barely had to pull the cord for it to start up! Great disaster prep purchase!!

This thing is a BEAST

We bought this generator in the midst of a power outage. In order to ensure I got the generator running in tip top condition, I used another reviewer’s method of using the supplied oil with 2oz marvel mystery oil and running for 30 minutes on gas, then changing oil with pennzoil 10w30 with 2oz marvel mystery oil, running for one hour on gas, then changing oil with royal purple engine break in oil and running for about four hours on propane varying the load on the generator, and finally changing the oil to Mobil 1 extended performance 10w30. After this, I used the generator for nearly 72 straight hours, going through two tanks of ethanol free gas, and due to ethanol free gas being difficult to find during our power outages, switched to propane for the remainder of the time. The generator uses fuel efficiently, and had no problem running two refrigerators, a deep freezer, the wifi router, a television, a space heater, a medical assist bed and recliner, and BOTH blowers for the gas heat. This generator allowed me to keep my grandparents in their house during the ice storm, and proved to be worth every penny. This thing ran like a top, and didn’t disturb any of the neighbors. I would highly recommend this generator to any of my friends or family.

Great product.

I bought this almost a year ago and I'm glad I did. It's a great unit. Used it on many camping trips and om many jobs that I had to do with no power. It powered everything I need to complete the work. I also like that I can switch from gas to propane.

Works about as expected.

Runs and powers a few things. This will keep my refrigerator and freezer going as well as lights and some small space heaters. Should run the water heater if I turn the refrigerator and freezer off during the process. Came with a broken spark plug boot (igniter kit assembly part #50100022), but may have been dropped in transit, as it seems an axle was a little bent, but I expect Westinghouse will send a replacement boot. It fired up right away once I glued and taped the boot together for a break-in run. Some LED lights in the house flicker with generator motor variations, but I expect you would need an inverter generator if you were picky about that. Some LED’s do not handle even small voltage variations very well.
