I bought this a few days ago, it should have been ready to go out of the box. However this one Had some damage, the cage around the recoil cord was pushed in preventing pull start, and the spring for the choke lever was damage. I called the support number on a Saturday, and the guy I talked to, not only started my warranty claim, but help me with a temp fix so I could use the generator that day.

Runs well, love the dual fuel capability, easy to get going. Will be a great emergency generator and won't have to store a can of gas or gas in it. Also great customer service. Got a wrong pin size with a wheel. Talked to a good customer service representative that seems to either work for them handles a lot of their calls. Part order confirmation was in my in box within 2 hours. Also another huge plus was finding a detailed parts break down with part numbers for any future needs in the manual.

I purchased this unit about 1.5 years ago and just recently opened the box due to lack of need. As an engineer I was impressed on the build of the machine from the packaging, the build, the thorough instructions, and the fact that it started right up after sitting in the box all this time.

I bought model # WGen5300DFcv, it's got 6500 watts peak power and 5300 watts running, runs on gasoline or propane. We bought it because we are in Western North Carolina near Asheville, and Hurricane Helene knocked out our power for 15 days. And this Westinghouse generator ran like a champ for 12 hours on a single tank of gas for the duration of this power outage. Performing post use/storage maintenance was easy. Nothing but praise for this open frame generator.

Purchased this generator during Hurricane Helen disaster recovery. I am impressed with the fuel fuel, and the watt/amps. I try to take care of my support equipment so it’s functioning and reliable when you need it. The oil drain plugs are horribly placed. And drain right on to the frame. I’m working on a solution to avoid this. The generator functions fine. But working on the generator to keep a maintenance schedule will be challenging to some due to the drain location. If a required maintenance action is difficult to complete then the likelihood of that task being completed will be affected due to it being frustrating to complete.

I wanted a dual fuel generator based on recent problems with the electric grid in Texas. I found this Sammy's Clubs exclusive model to be my best option after doing some research. Since this is a sales tax free weekend on emergency supplies I made the purchase online and it was ready early for pickup. The generator is heavy in the box but two people can easily lift it in and out of a SUV or Pickup bed. The box is just a regular box and is not designed for easy extraction of the generator. Here's what I did to make extraction and adding the feet and wheels a little easier. I flipped the box upside down and opened it up Then I removed the separate box that contains the wheels and feet. There is a tool kit to tighten the bolts for the feet. I had to cut down the corners of the box to install the wheels. After all that it was easy to slowly tilt the box/generator right onto its wheels and feet. This process seemed to be way easier than lifting the generator out of the box and then needing to find a way to lift it up to attach the feet / wheels would have been. Moving the unit around is easy enough. My wife is able to move it easily. The handle is padded and folds away. The wheels roll good on concrete and hard ground. I intend to use propane exclusively with this generator unless I run out or have an extended power outage, so I hooked up the included propane line to my extra grill tank. The tool kit does NOT include a wrench that is large enough to tighten the propane connection on the generator. You will need a 19mm or 3/4 inch or large enough adjustable wrench to ensure a tight enough connection. After setting everything up correctly for a propane start up, I pulled the recoil start cord and the motor was running before I finished the pull. That made me very happy. The ambient temperature was 75 F so I switched the choke off nearly immediately. I let it run for 1 hour of break in. It was quieter than I expected, but still loud. Tomorrow I will fire it up again and try running it with a load. I feel it will work out just fine for our needs based one a perfect setup experience. Not sure if I will be able to update this as things go along, but I will if I can. I'll also be posting a review on the Sammy's Club site too.

It looks nice. It's the right size. I can wheel it around to where I want. It's dual fuel so I'd rather use propane which is easy to get and to store. I googled quiet generators and this was rated near the top with only two others a few decibels less. We learned our lesson and always keep a generator after going 3 months without electricity post Hurricane Iniki.

Although I haven't had any emergencies (yet) I feel secure that I shall have electric power for heat, lights and refrigerators in the event of power grid failures. My one regret is that I should have gotten the 7,000 watts or even the 9,000 watts unit. However, this one seems efficient and economical to run. Oh yeah, it's dual fuel to boot. Great for me in a rural environment.

The size and the power are just two features I had been looking for! Not to mention the two types of fuel that can be used, and also the hidden handle in which I can easily move it! I bought it for emergency power outages and the way it is constructed-- I am sure to see many years of use! Thank you for such a great product!!!!!!!

Bought this before a big snow a week ago. Great instructions on set up and precautions. Worked great once it started and that was the only issue. It took about 30 minutes to start. After 30 minutes of sweat and frustration, it fired right up and haven’t had any issues since. Highly recommended.
