A significant improvement in picture quality compared to a Roku Ultra. The images on the Roku appeared overly saturated and unnatural. Skin tones look more natural when streaming through the Apple TV box; there are better blacks and less banding. These were compared side by side in an LG G4 TV.

Easy Peasy

This is the easiest device I have ever used both for ease of connection and ease of use. Installing wanted/needed apps was quick and efficient. I had my TV entirely set up in no time at all. The quality of the picture and the vibrancy of the colors is so much better than the fire stick I had previously.

Great substitution for a smart tv

Love the Apple TV, decided to get the Ethernet version I have a monitor didn’t want a tv so this was the better alternative than dealing with the fire stick and Roku, it’s a no brainer especially in an Apple ecosystem pairs well with HomePods mini, the remote battery life is also better than expected can go with periods on not charging it and the set up is more easier if you use an iOS device to set it up

If you’re looking for a streaming device that has plenty of storage and the speed and how fast it operates look no further I would go with this product. It is better than Roku and Google Chromecast and definitely better than Onn which is a Walmart brand

Cleanest and best streaming device.

Despite being a few years old this is still the best streaming device out there. Clean interface not cluttered with noise or ads. Obviously better if you are in the Apple ecosystem.

small simple and sweet

its a breeze to setup. And it was straight forward for me to download apps that are needed for me. The interface is a lot better than other connecting devices. Siri search is blessing. I have almost stopped typing to search. It just needed an additional wire that I have to tuck it to not being visible hanging out from my TV.. but other than that everything is good. Remote is pretty intuitive.. the scroll and search is a new experience.

Crappy remote, great streaming device

I have a lot of Apple products and am very happy with them. The Apple TV 4K is another great product with super performance and ease of use. My biggest complaint and reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is the remote. This is without a doubt the crappiest remote design ever. Apple makes things easy to use, but they should take a LONG look at he remote and get rid of the Click-Pad and go with buttons, or sell a separate pad if they feel the need for it. This remote allows for so many accidental entries that it is seriously frustrating. I have even gone as far as to purchase a third party remote just to set this stupid remote to the side. Other than that, it s great, super fast performance, great App selection and the picture quality is astounding. 4 stars because of the remote.

Looks slick but disappointing smart home contols

Physically slick but disappointing smart home functions. The curated Apple App store has only a limited choice of very pricey apps for my IP cameras. Very poor in comparison with alternative smart TV dongle options. Also I don't see how this device can be the effective hub of any smart device ecosystem when it is inactive when the TV is turned off., and there is no native control of Apple Home devices. Also there is the wider issue of Apple Home (previous Homekit) easily breaking with my smart home devices (e.g. Leviton). Save your money and get something better.

Critical flaws don’t justify high price

I found the Apple 4kTV easy to install and set up. In my case I connected the device over HDMI to a receiver that is connected to my TV using HDMI eArc. I had to upgrade the HDMI cable that I originally used between the 4kTV and the receiver as the 4kTV would not enable the 4k video setting otherwise. The eArc functionality works fine to turn on and turn off the TV and receiver just using the 4kTV remote. The picture and sound quality are similar to the device that this unit replaced. Downloading apps was easy. The primary reason that I bought this device was so that I could use my Apple earbuds when watching TV. My hearing isn’t great anymore so using earbuds really helps. This feature works well, except for one issue. Using the earbuds always turns off the TV speakers. There are no settings or workarounds to avoid this. Hence it is not possible for one person to be using earbuds while another person listens to the speakers. For me this means that I can’t use earbuds while watching TV with my wife as she doesn’t like to use earbuds or headphones. The second issue is the remote. The sensor wheel that enables one to scroll around by sliding one’s finger is unusable. When you slide to the item you want to select and then go to push the select button in the middle, the curser position typically changes as you move your finger to the button. Unbelievably twitchy! Once on a menu item you have to carefully lift your finger, move your finger to the center of the select button, then depress it. Even after practicing I was unable to reliably accomplish what I wanted. Luckily there is an option to turn off the “slide around” capability and just use the left, right, up, down, and select buttons. This makes things enormously better but is still not without its faults. Because all five of these buttons are on a contiguous, smooth surface, I often depress the select button when I mean to select one of the other buttons. Very, very annoying, especially when speeding through a basketball or football game. The third issue is the navigation. Clicking on the home button takes one to Apple TV, not the screen where you select applications. You have to hit home a second time to get there. Maybe there is a setting that can change this behavior but I have yet to find it. The bottom line for me is that the device works fine as a streaming channel gateway. However, the ease of use is quite a bit less than I would have expected from Apple.

Don’t buy from Walmart. Possible refurbished.

This remote bounces all over the place. It’s like the buttons stick or something. Just press left or right once and sometimes it just starts scrolling super fast then stops. I’ve tried turning off the touch sensor and restoring the system. I’ve researched the issue and tried all the suggestions. It’s just a dodgy product. I have multiple AppleTV’s purchased from other shops in different rooms but this Walmart one is the only one ever to give me trouble. Buy somewhere else. This is probably some “refurbished” product sold as new or something.
