So i got this to review. One of the hardest part, is to open the package. To put together and use is real simple. Works, most mosquitoes are gone after the product warms up and starts working. It's the middle of the day in Florida, haven't tried it at night. The product is okay priced, but the refills are expensive and don't last long.

Bought this a few weeks ago because we needed a mosquito repellent for our backyard patio. It actually seemed to make the mosquitos worse and my wife and I got bit several times after the first use. We gave it another shot a few nights later and got bit multiple times again. Yes, I read the instructions and made sure that we are using it correctly, even tried a brand new strip. It does not work. I am very disappointed in this product.

I have the old patio lanterns and bought this recently. It looks much nicer on my patio table and is easier to operate as far as switching the butane cartridge and the ignition. On the old lantern, it was hard for some people to get their fingers in the slots to open the bottom to change the cartridge. This model is much easier as you unscrew the base. It works just as well as all Thermacell products I've tried which are the only things that keep the mosquitos off of me, except for spray-on repellant, which I'd rather not use constantly. I love the design and that there is a lid, so I can leave it outside even if its raining, which happens most afternoons in our part of Florida.

We rec'd & tested yesterday. Mosquitos were in the shop, & biting, until we lit it. The dogs & we were unmolested afterwards. Convenient features: A free-standing unit; mat storage in the barrel of the unit; weatherproof; same lighting mechanism as the hunting Thermacells. I'm sold!

We full time travel in an RV. Mosquitoes are a problem everywhere! We've used Thermacell's portable devices for some time, and still do. Dislike sprays and wipes, although you use them when needed. These... to date, we've not found a better option - they work. Our hope is that the Patio Shield casts a somewhat bigger coverage area than the portable. As we've only used it a few times thus far, that verdict is still out. Rarely give a 5 rating since there is always room for improvement. Nevertheless, the devices are our "go to" solution! (tip - instructions do not explicitly state it, but cover must be left off when in use!)

I received this product for free in exchange for my honest review. I must say, I loved it. It was super easy to set up. Just insert the fuel package and place the matt. Twist the bottom till you see the red come on and you're all set. No scent, no foul smell, no need to spray anything and fear that it may get into your eyes, no stickiness at all. I love how portable it is. We can take it anywhere. I live in a very humid city where mosquitoes are always around. So this repellent sure does help when we are trying to have a bar be que or just hang out in our patio and relax. We love it and will continue using it.

I bought this to defend friends and family from the onslaught of mosquitos in the fair season at our house by the river. I'm a lucky one that mosquitos don't like, but so many friends and family are feast for the buggers--you can seem 'em swarming around the poor souls! The Thermacell Patio Shield is doing a fantastic job of greatly improving the outdoor experiences of our guests. It's quiet, barely puts out any scent, is unobtrusive, and very easy to use. We just moved to Florida and are waiting to have the back patio and pool screened in to keep the mosquitos away. We thought that we couldn't enjoy the patio / pool until then. The Patio Shield made the difference and allowed us to enjoy our patio / pool right away. We just set up the Patio Shield on our patio table near the pool, take a dip in the pool and when we get out don't have to worry about being bugged by those nasty flying blood suckers. We're so happy we got the patio shield - it works great, easy to use and re-use, lights the first time every time and there is just a faint smell - enough to let you know it's working.

I have used Thermacell products for YEARS and they keep getting better. It's seriously the only thing that works in the deep south during summer.Unless you want to spray down with chemicals and inhale all of that junk or smell the rest of the evening! GREAT products!

I was so grateful and surprised that this doesn’t require batteries to use. It’s extremely lightweight and easy to carry anywhere you would like to. My kids like to play in the yard during evening hours and are always getting bit by mosquitoes. This helped keep them away. We loved that it was scent free and didn’t have a continuous misting spray go everywhere. It is very quiet and makes no noise. It didn’t last as long as the box says it does. That’s the only negative.
