I have only had this generator for 3 months but it has already worked flawlessly during a 90 minute power outage. I got the cold weather kit (Chicago winters) and the mobile link app which sends status updates to your cell phone/tablet/pc so you can check on status while you are away from home. Just make sure you hire a professional who has good reviews for installing these since there are some complexities. I also had the gas company install a larger meter since in the winter with furnaces running there would not be enough gas volume to power the generator and two furnaces simultaneously (just a phone call and $100 to gas company). Generator looks good and runs more quietly that I expected (about same level as a lawn mower). After incurring $20k in water damage from a recent storm when the sump backup battery ran out of power (18 hour outage) I thought this would be a good investment.

Installation was neat and efficient even following 10” of snow. Installers were courteous and informative. They used drop cloths to keep all floor surfaces safe. And even shoveled snow when necessary. Following installation there was a review of equipment and time for questions. A test was run so that I could hear the generator in operation. Installers made sure pilots on furnace and water heater were lit. A technician came by following the installation to help me download the mobile link.Today, as promised, my generator tested itself. Perfect. R.G. Behers Electrical was outstanding!!

Always wanted a whole home generator for my home especially since my wife requires oxygen most of the time. We finally had one installed the other day and we are completely happy with the unit. Plenty of power to take care of our home and it was a very quick and clean install---our local electrical contractor (Mathers Electric) did wonderful, neat work. The generator fired up on the first try and worked perfectly--I couldn't be happier. We looked at plenty of other generator models/companies before we decided, but Generac has always had a great reputation for reliability and so far, they have proven it!

Living in an area where we typically have 3-5 days per year where we are without power due to storm damage, having my Generac Guardian system with an automatic transfer switch makes my family and I feel secure knowing we will now have power during these events.

We had Switch Electric, LLC perform the installation. They came highly recommended and I can see why. The installation went flawlessly, their explanation of the system was easy to understand and the product works incredibly well. We typically lose power here in our area at least three to four times per year and were tired of hooking up a manual generator to the house during those windy/rainy times. Thank goodness we now have the peace of mind that it will happen automatically.

Living in south Florida where there is always a chance of hurricane related power outages having this generator gives us great peace of mind! No more storing 5 gallon gas cans with fresh fuel and rotating them constantly and a few 3 gal propane tanks( my generator is a dual fuel model) for a power outage and having to pull it out and starting it up during a storm. No more shutting it down every 8-9 hours to refill it is a great feeling. We couldn’t be happier with our new Generac Guardian backup generator.

The Pros: Just finished installing a 18kw in our new home. Super simple and the documentation provided for site selection, installation, and initial testing was great!!! The unit cranked the first time within 10 seconds (air in the lines). Subsequent cranks are about 2 seconds. The installed unit and transfer switch look great and blend right in. The generator is smaller than our AC condenser, so its almost hidden on the side of the house. The unit maintains great voltage and frequency stability for something this small. It sags for a second or two when my AC starts and the house is already pulling a decent load, but it recovers quickly. I had read of people having trouble with their UPS units not liking generator power. None of that here. I have three different UPS units, each from a different manufacture...all are happy with the Generac output. The Cons A little loader than I thought it would be, but not bad. Inside the house, you cannot hear it running unless you are in the room immediacy next to the unit, but the neighbors without power will not like listening to it, while they sweat at night with their windows open. They need to hire a competent programmer to do something about their activation process and WiFi pairing. Thank god you only need to do it once. I am disappointed by how limited the interface to the generator is. I knew there was a subscription service, but I stupidly assumed that was only needed for remote monitoring while away from home. I expected the smart phone app to be full featured while on my local network...not the case. It tells me the Battery voltage and that is it. It does not even reflect if the unit is available, unavailable, or running. Overall, I'm recommending Generac to friends. I still think its the best choice.

The generator was installed within 1 month of the initial sales meet. The project coordinator made the process completely painless. Everything was included except for the Propane hookup/install which we took care of. Generator is exactly as advertised!

I Had 22 K Generator with Transfer Switch Delivered. Shipper loaded it on my Small trailer, hooked it to my riding mower, Pulled into back yard and slid it off onto concrete pad I poured the week before. I Hired an Electrition to help me hook Generator to House. The Aluminum Box makes it easy to make holes to attach the Conduit for Wireing. The Generac Unit works great and was easily programmed, Activation Code was simple to Get on line. Thanks for the piece of mind I have, Not worrying that the Utillity Power will fail when we have lightening or Ice Storms.

The installation and testing of this unit was flawless ... apart from a little hiccup in connecting the wifi, but the technicians soon had that figured out and the wifi tracking/performance monitoring system now works very smoothly. We expect that this unit will deliver all of the reliable service we hope for from it.
