Bacon in chicken fried rice?

In the past I purchased chicken fried rice at Sams. it was a treat and tasted authentic. I bought this at Sams recently and I knew the second I poured it into a bowl that something smelled very different. Instead of getting a whif of soy, maybe ginger or onion, I got something completely off. It’s bacon. Now I live in the Deep South and we love our bacon, but this is not where it belongs. It doesn’t resemble chicken fried rice from a restaurant. I’m disappointed.

Love it!

I love this product as I am a big rice lover, even though I love potatoes! I gave this a five star because it is so good. My only drawback is the soy beans but I simply remove them before cooking and enjoy the rest. I don't believe soy beans are good for anyone and they are hard to bite into as well. It would be nice if they substituted green peas but that's okay - I will keep doing what I do and simply pick them out!

pretty tasty except.....

This rice is pretty tasty except every now and then , instead of eating real chicken pieces I end eating rubbery chicken and then I have to discard it. I don’t enjoy the edamame and can’t understand why not just use green peas like I see in other fried rice. Maybe Sams club will read this and make some improvements, like using green peas and real chicken. Thank you.

Love it!

It’s been out of stock for awhile at my Sam’s Club, but it’s one of my favorites!! It’s great for a quick and easy lunch! I think it tastes great and love that it even has egg bits mixed in! It is a little salty so you don’t need to add extra, and it doesn’t exactly taste like the kind you would get at a restaurant but I love it! I would absolutely recommend!

I rarely do reviews...

I don’t do reviews unless I really have something to say about a product. This rice is really good for frozen. I can’t even express that enough. It’s FROZEN. Usually I can’t even reheat Chinese food from the day before. Here’s my super tip. Try it and I promise you will love it. Go ahead and heat the rice in the microwave according to the box. Then melt some butter, sauté some onions and garlic until they are soft and translucent; throw the rice in and fry for 2 minutes or until you’re satisfied with the texture. Tastes like Benihana! I eat this all the time.

tastes smokey, not a flavor usual in chinese food

I finally gave this a try because I am always looking for easy frozen foods as I am single and budget minded. This was NOT good!! Smoked flavor is over whelming. I don't think smokey when I buy oriental foods. Chicken was chopped and formed which is always sub standard. Oh well.

dealbreaker. Great rice, nasty gristley chicken

The rice itself is has good flavor. The dealbreaker is the gristley so-called chicken. Had to spit out. I used to buy these years ago (easy to take to work and nuke for 3 min). I stopped getting it back then when I started getting gristle in the chicken. (Same reason I won't buy stouffers dinners with chicken). I tried these again this week seeing the different package I thought was new. Nope--just the same. Great rice, unchewable chicken.

Great fried rice

I have tried many different brands of frozen fried rice and would not have given any of them a 1 star, but this one is much different. I had intended to fry up in skillet but wanted it quick so used the microwave. I was very happily surprised! It is actually very good.

Quick dinner

I have only made it on the stove so can’t comment on the results after microwaving, but after cooking on stove it’s not a bad meal. It’s definitely not heavily seasoned, but it’s easily doctored up with some teriyaki and hoisin sauce. Is it as good as fried rice in the restaurant? No, but it’s better than most frozen meals. It’s a quick dinner that’s affordable.

Could be dairy free gluten free so easily

Adding bacon was the wrong direction. You can't taste it and it increases the sodium. Im not a picky eater but the egg in this is abhorrent. I remove it. If they changed the recipe for the egg from powdered cream cheese to something dairy free friendly they could remarket as dairy free gluten free. Or literally anything else, I'm not kidding the egg is just bad. Lots of religions prohibit pork consumption, adding bacon was a blunder. Instead I think a little yum-yum sauce packet would elevate this product immensely. Overall it's fine, it's food. I'll keep buying it. But every time I eat it I wish it was a little better.
